Literally no joke the best Pokémon game would be to combine the best parts of both game THEN just improve how’s the game runs

Legends Arceus. Especially when you realize your character is the reason Giratina reacted so harshly to Cyrus in present day Diamond and Pearl.

Legends Arceus was the BEST time I’ve ever had with Pokémon! I want another Legends game so badly, but this time I want it actually open world, keeping the same action RPG elements, and with more stuff to do (more Pokémon in the dex, etc.). I’d also like it to be NOT a time-traveling story. Or at least, with the main character being original to the time period.

I pick Legends. Even though I am enjoying Pokémon scarlet, I just feel like there was more fun to have in legends. I played that game so much, even after completing all the task to do in that game just because I found it so cathartic in the manner of catching Pokémon in that game. I still play it to this day, with no sense of boredom. With Scarlet and Violet I’m ready to put it down only a month in.

Legends Arceus had you complete the dex while making you guess on how to get the Pokemon you don't have. In Scarlet, it's optional, and you can virtually get every Pokemon without trading besides the exclusives and the other 2 starters. There's more that you can do in Scarlet than in Legends Arceus.

Arceus just has so much variety and more things to do so I’m gonna have to go with that

I like things from both games. I enjoy how the dex worked in Legends, and it made me spend a lot of hours getting all of the Pokémon. And I loved the shiny hunting. The graphics style in that game I find nicer, too. But I do like the open world of S/V, enjoy the new Pokémon, the story, and how you can choose your path.

I liked Arceus when I was playing it. When it first came out, I was still playing Brilliant Diamond, but I was eager to play Arceus that I gave up on trying to do what I was doing, but that isn’t really saying much. However, after I beat the story in Arceus, I abandoned it because I missed playing Sword and Shield. I replayed that until Scarlet and Violet, and I haven’t stopped since.

I perfer SV because because of its multiple story paths and the Tera mechanic is awesome and throws battling to another level

Legends was the most fun I’ve had with the franchise since I was a kid. The new mechanics and the way you’re actually vulnerable, not just mindless catching and battling, was what made it a whole new experience. I would almost call it more immersive because of that.

I personally spent more time in legends arceus doing shiny hunting and trying to complete the Pokédex, but I think scarlet/violet has the upper hand, especially with the dlc coming up

Arceus. I haven't finished S&V yet so there is bias. Everything in Arceus feels so new and fun. I've had the most fun with Arceus than I've had with other games in awhile. S&V still feels very choppy, while Arceus hasn't had a single bug that disrupted my game. (Arceus Spoilers) I love how you get kicked out and have to be on your own for a bit in Arceus. The catching mechanic genuinely should be apart of all mainstream pokemon games.

Legends, I like that, for once, you can complete a whole pokedex with JUST the base game, and no trade evolutions, nor version exclusive mons or anything like that

Being for real legends arceus made me the shiny hunter I am today. After a long day of middle school, I'd go home, grab my switch and spend like 1-2 hours shiny hunting everyday! Now in just legends arceus I have 3 full boxes of shiny pokemon (and still no shiny charm)

Okay so I’m getting back into Pokémon, I’ve put 120 hours into sword, what do I play next, Arceus or Violet 🙃 I’m so torn between both……

I chose scarlet violet but I adore both games!!! I LOVE so many of the new designs, both for Pokémon and the human characters. Love the open world, the music, the plot, the characters themselves had a lot more life for me than in SwSh. Everything was a step up from SwSh by far. I also got very lucky in only have two or three very small technical issues and that’s it

Gen 9. It’s really special to me.

Arceus. Even if only for the fact that you don't get to see your legendary Pokemon until the END game! Not right off the bat

The SV bug showed is exclusive to emulators :) Also, did you know that both games were made at the same time by two different teams?

Honestly, I can't decide. I like that they show you when a Pokémon is Shiny in PLA, but I like Scarlet and Violet because it's a mix between traditional Pokémon and PLA.

If legends arceus had a few more good pokémon, like sableye breloom bisharp and relicanth, I honestly think it would be the best game on the switch (not just in the Pokémon franchise!)

I definitely like Arceus more because it's easier to notice shiny pokemon than in Scarlet and Violet. Plus I like the Alpha mechanic and it creates a new challenge of shiny alpha hunting

Both! PLA because the collector part of me squeals when I hear the shiny chime. SV because the battles and Tera raids are fun. I wish they kept the shiny chime for SV.

I wish they’d make a story for it then add the Pokémon battles tournaments and of course the bad guys. If they could add those 3 things in a singular game it’d sale like hotcakes. I miss the old Pokémon Colosseum games on game cube

I I'm playing arcues right now and it is pretty good. But haven't played scarlet and violet but just by videos it looks pretty glitchy so Im with arceus

violet is literally my first game before sword so i gotta choose violet. i also didn't get glitches in my games so it was a good experience

I'm option 3. Both are good and have flaws. Archeus has some good new mechanics and challenges. However for a completionist like myself I get bothered with the extremely grindy (side)quests. Violet and Scarlet have a good feel story wise like the good old pokemon games. However the extreme % amount of status effects and the still enforced walkthrough is a missed chance besides the bugs and graphic issues. So Both. Both is good.

If they combine the fluencisity of Pokemon Arceuses gameplay with the Classic original style of Violet and Scarlet. Make some tweaks with the music and Battle mechanics to introduce something similar to Strong and Agile style or sneaking up and throwing a PokeBall to catch the pokemon directly. I think it would be and if not the closest thing we are going to get a Perfect Pokemon Game. Also voice acting.

I like pla more just for the way Pokémon spawn as in pla the spawns are tied to specific landmarks and locations. Really making you explore for certain mons whereas in sv Pokémon spawn in broad areas and the only thing that makes a Pokémon rare is their spawn rate deincentivizing exploration and replacing it with running around aimlessly until one spawns

Arceus was amazing

Arceus is fantastic. I love the way they make Pokemon actual threats in the wild. And catching a pokemon without having to start a battle is amazing as well. I also like the crafting system. Violet is cool but im definitely not as involved with it as much as i am with arceus

how does Arceus not getting a dlc make the game less good?

I literally just bought Legends Arceus a couple days ago and got really addicted to it that I played it for like 5 hours straight and didn’t even get that far in it either. I just had so much fun catching Pokémon in the very beginning so I literally just ran around in the very first area catching Pokémon. Then I started a new Profile on my Switch just so I could play a separate game with a different male instead and different starter. (Rowlet is my first starter and named him Samurai Jack and Oshawott is my second starter and named him Riptide). I also bought both Scarlet and Violet when they came out and been playing them since. I beat Violet’s story and am now just playing it mainly to farm money for when DLC comes out. Been playing through Scarlet’s story now and just beat Iono and working on my team and also found myself a random shiny Rookidee and got a shiny Kingambit in Violet. No shinies in Legends yet though.

Arches got one update that added Massive Mass Outbreaks and some special battles for certain Pokémon but yeah, they could’ve killed Legends for a year and I would’ve gladly gave them my money

Personally i'd go with sv because its story was just 100% perfect and the characters were amazing and i did not care 1 bit about the bugs and issues

I really like being able to let out any of your Pokemon and not just your lead Pokemon in Legends Arceus. I also like that you can dodge, move around during a battle, make your own pokeballs and potions, and catch Pokemon without having to battle them in that game. For Pokemon Scarlet and Violet I like having easy access to all the Pokemon you've caught and I like the open world aspect of it. If they make another Pokemon game in the future I would like to see all those things combined.

I love arceus, but I would have 100% said scarlet/violet if they had released a finished polished game. As it stands now I just can’t rank it above arceus even though there’s amazing potential!

I think what goes under appreciated in Arceus is game expression in not just your team, but the hub of the world (Jubilife Village). Getting to create a town with your favorite pokemon running around is something im going to miss if removed from another Pokemon game.

Legends arceus hands down, I was devastated we didn’t get DLC and they moved on to the next Gen

I got really attached to S/V’s characters, more involved in the overall story, and just found it more memorable. However, my Shiny Alpha Luxray does give LA some points… Nah, S/V is my new home.

The trailers for scarlet and violet was good but the evolutions for the starters are dudu so I'm gonna go with legends aceus

I like the fact of everyone actually afraid of pokemon cause the dex keeps mentioning how powerful pokemon are and in past games everyone just treats all of it like normal while in arceus you actually have to be careful about catching pokemon

I cant believe people crying over the performance. Had literally no issues or lag whatsoever except bad hacky rendering from a far distance. Its like you got nothing and just desperately try to get a jab in on S/V. But really, S/V needs more of an end game more than just pvp, raids, shiny hunting. It needs to get its difficulty upped a lot! There is no reason for it to be so easy and cheesy. Might be the easiest pokemon game to complete gyms and story etc While legends goes on the right track i dont think its pulled off well at all. Some parts are good but ultimately it just feels empty, boring, linear and not pokemon like. It tries too much to be zelda, like lets go tries to be Po Go

If I'm being honest I hate the arceus battle mechanics and how you progress The progression is really slow and the battle mechanics give everyone else extra turns when you survive at 1hp no matter the speed there's still a huge chance you don't go first Plus if your pokemon faints while someone has a double turn they get a triple turn it was so annoying especially on volo because he got multiple turns to easily bulk up and had a Cynthia type team Its like Cynthia but you can't really attack and when you do you still die + all of her pokemon can stat boost and still hit right after + 2 giratinas because he's a sore loser I really hated the pain of fighting him

I like them both I love how everything is in arceus then in scarlet and violet when glitches and bugs happen I find the very funny for some reason

I like both in their own way but Arceus had more immersion to it

I would actually rate both games equally. I didn’t have any major glitches in the game. Sometimes the camera would let me see inside the ground in Violet. And both games had some questionable lighting. Both had great stories and gameplay that I really enjoyed.

After the few patches S&V have releases has vastly improved the game performance to the point I don't have a lot of issues with it and even frame rates have improved (not saying they're the best but improved none the less)

i love both games so much but arceus definitely has my heart, its genuinely a very good pokémon game and the shiny/catching mechanics made me fall in love instantly

If scarlet and violet actually functioned properly they would be the best games in the franchise by a long shot

Well the bad first for me: dislike the starters in Scarlet and Violet but also dislike not being able to have an option to evolve either Hisuan or not in Legends

Imma be that guy who is like I'm playing on my old ass model switch, from week one of launch and never had any weird glitches except some small clipping.

Legends Arceus was the shake up this series really needed and the gameplay loop is amazingly addictive. It also made so many quality of life tweaks I never knew I needed and although SV kept some of them... it mostly just ignored it and returned to how it was on the gameboy...

I don’t know I just really am finding myself to be enjoying Pokémon violet more then I did with Pokémon arceus I don’t know if it’s because of the gym aspect and just the huge free roaming. it’s really fun for me.

Arceus cuz 1. You don’t have to battle Pokémon to catch them 2. You can get ALL Pokémon WITHOUT trading 3. Status effects go away when you exit a battle 4. There’s a shiny sound when a shiny spawns 5. Shines are SO EASY to get

I played PLA. Finished the pokedex and a day after transition into Violet. PLA's gameplay feels so much better

I played Arceus for a few minutes and got bored meanwhile I beat pokemon violet and scarlet Two times

I dont get why they dont make a Pokémon game with the SV/Arceus graphics and mechanics while staying true to the original games, SV had the original type of story but the fact that they removed buildings was a deal breaker for me there just wasnt enough exploration it just didn't excite me as much as the old games do, it feels robotic and empty

Legends. I played Violet and honestly, wasn't too big of a fan. Legends Arceus though is probably my 2nd favorite game, right behind Ranger Guardian Signs (which was essentially a Legends Celebi lmao). It's actually kinda funny how much they have in common, but the PLA story was great, I love the new mechanics. My only complaint is the Miss Fortune sisters. They're so annoyed istg-

It's sad that both have their flaws. I miss when gamefreak did their 2D magic. They really knew what they were doing and one could tell 5 minutes into the game that they poured all their heart and soul into every new installment. Even diamond and pearl imo. Don't get me wrong, no game is perfect but every time i replay one of the old games, even the ones that were before i actively started playing, therefore missing the nostalgia part for me, feel so whole and made with so much care.

Scarlet and Violet. To me the most successful thing you can accomplish in a game is make characters that people will love and remember. Arven’s storyline is super refreshing for the series since we almost never get to see a mature story, at least not to this degree. While I didn’t feel as emotionally invested in penny’s story, I didn’t mind seeing where the game took her character. But Nimona was without a doubt the greatest change of pace as a rival since at least gen 5. Her character isn’t just “I want to get stronger” it’s already being the strongest and searching for a new rival to go all-out on. The legendary in this game actually feels earned and something they just snuck in the game. Your with it from day one and as you complete the path of legends you get to slowly watch it regain its strength until it returns to its legendary status. Then when you use it in the the fight against koraidon/miraidon it feels triumphant because you’ve been with it so long you feel an emotional attachment. All in all, this Pokémon game really was a step up in terms of memorability.

I'm on team Arceus, but both games are great. I really like Let's Go in Scarlet/Violet because it feels so natural, grinding with my girl Skeledirge to get EXP for the next gym. Not to mention, I am convinced now that Team Star has the best music out of all the evil teams, and I thought it was hard to beat Rocket, Plasma and Flare. And can we just talk about how PENNY'S THEME IS LITERALLY HARDSTYLE? The way you can choose your story path is also excellent. I'm actually playing through it right now and did Grusha's gym before most of the gyms because I went straight for the Water titan with my level 70+ legendaries from Galar, took it out with Regirock (YES, A ROCK-TYPE) and just used Climb to get up there. But Legends has a lot of great things about it too. It did legendary Pokémon battles justice. I just wish after riding Miraidon around for quite some time that we could use Dialga/Palkia/Giratina as a mount. I'm also a huge fan of the fact you can catch all the Sinnoh mythics in PLA. Volo is just the coolest villain, and the game's overworld gimmicks are challenging yet fun. It sure is a hard choice but I think Arceus introduced so many new things to the series that I HAVE to give it to Daddy!
