In this video, JJ asks professional survival instructors to demonstrate what they think is the best emergency ridgeline. How do you deploy a fast action emergency ridgeline? Do you use toggles, hardware, prusiks or just prefer good old fashioned knots, hitches and bends? Watch this video and let us know your thoughts!

All the Ridgeline shown are the best, it's just preferences and it starts from cordage management & storage. Whether it's in the pocket or backpack, as long as it is easily get to in case of emergency. We manage our cordages similar to yours but much tighter, ending up with something very compact. We use it as a self defense item. Thank you Mr.JJ & instructors. So when will be the next survival/shtf vid? Cheers from Australia.

I’m hoping for an adventure video next time.. I had to teach in another state and did this one while I was there.. You’re right- they are all useful in different scenarios and people just need to pick the ones that work for them.. I’m definitely interested in the self defense method of carry though! Sounds like something I need to know!!

Your 2nd to last knot...the tension less made me roll! I actually passed my knot badge with that before I had knots figured out knots. I was lucky, and finished with the shoelace knot! But it worked! Love this subject, it was flooded for a bit there! Until me meet again, signed, The 4th "J" of the 4 J's.... Jason! As always, Fuel The Fires Brother!

I like the basic quick deploy ridgeline. I toe the bowline knot on one end, and for a quick release I just make that pocket and use a toggle. For the other end I like the locking trucker's hitch. I will also have two or three prusic loops on my quick deploy ridgeline. For a quick shelter I will use bungee cords over a quick deploy ridgeline.

These are all good examples and work. The timber hitch Blackie did was a good and also using the small carabiner at the truckers hitch seems like a good idea for cord life. I usually do the standard ridgeline with a toggle at one end and truckers hitch on the other, but Im going to try that alpine butterfly in leu of the truckers hitch and see how it goes. Good to see all the experts at one time. Thanks- Carry On-

For extra cord in my pack I've started using a thin water bottle cut off where it starts to neck down. Just shove the Hanks in and the slight edge keeps them in. It can be crushed to conserve pack space and still works fine

I do like the last guy by using the toggle quick release. To secure to other tree, I use the simple truckers hitch, finish off with a half hitch and toggle. However, I do like the 3rd guys spin around the finger and creating that bite. I may start using that.

@@FueltheFires lol, I'm just a creature of habit. When I find something that works best for me, I tend to keep it the same. Then, it becomes muscle memory and I don't have to think about it, lol. I do enjoy videos like this because there is always something new to learn and maybe incorporate into my routine. Thanks for the comment.

Okay, I'm not the adult boyscout bush guy, so I don't know all these hippe names y'all give knots. I am an old cow hand, and y'all might want to look into picket lines. I don't know how to put it into words, but I can set up a picket line without having to tie a loop in the rope, tighten it up, and sturdy enough that a horse can't pull it down.

My belt is made of woven 550 cord with a few modifications, including methods of equiping my EDC. It is my quick deploy Ridgeline. Of course, I'd lose my pants, but at least I'd have shelter, fire, fish, traps, cutting tools, and filtered water.
