I made it to the end! It happens to all of us! Amazing video, very well done. The thing you said at the end sold me on the RS3Pro. I use my sony a7siii with the sony 28-135 PZ with is pretty substantial. I was wondering if the RS3 could handle it.

You don't need the RS3 Pro unless you're going to be using Cine Cameras. If you're mainly using a mirrorless in run and gun situations 90% of the time, the RS3 is good enough. We shoot weddings and we try to keep everything as absolutely light and nimble as possible so "rigging" out our camera is not a thing. The most we'll put on there is a shotgun mic and a cage and the RS3 and RSC2 handles it well. The carbon fiber is in my opinion a huge plus though, just the way it feels is so much better but I think i'll take a lighter load over that if I absolutely needed to choose.

It might be fine for your wedding videos but for someone who makes movies for a living, especially action, thriller, Lidar range finder with wireless transmitter that has 6 km range is something you definitely need and only Pro has those. Just because you're a wedding guy doesn't mean everyone else is also like you and what's fine for you doesn't mean it's fine for everyone else. So speak for yourself.

@@bluerabbit1236 You're making a grand and highly inaccurate assumption here. (And why be so arrogant, dismissive and rude by the way? How does that benefit anyone?) I responded initially because I personally own the RS3 Pro and Lidar range finder. I also don't make 'wedding videos'. That sounds like a tough job I would not have the patience for, and applaud anyone who does. But I've never had to shoot a corporate thing nor wedding or whatever in my life. I make my living in cinema. I am a working fiction director, and to use a tired phrase consider myself extremely fortunate to be able to say that. I simply bought these tools to play with, and for my friends to goof around with. I was sharing a fact that you don't actually need the gimbal to use the LiDar range finder on your camera once you've programmed lenses. For example, as a filmmaker, you would know I'm referring to handing it to an operator for B-cam, or if shooting on sticks with A-cam and/or track, you don't need the gimbal. That's it. It's all I was saying. I know the world is a hard place. But we need to be a little kinder on these forums, and stop the assumptions, no matter where you think you are in your career, there is always someone ahead of you we can learn from, or behind you where we can offer some help. That's all I was trying to do. Be kind folks.

Hi! Sorry for the lateness. As someone who tries to look at the lightest setup possible, I’m assuming you at least looked up for the RS3 Mini right? I’m extremely doubtful between the Mini and the regular one. My camera now is a fuji x-s10 but if I manage to make a living of filmmaking I will upgrade to Sony full-frame. Just wanna know, how do you feel about the RS3 mini? Do you think it’s better for a beginner to buy an RS3 mini now and eventually get an RS3 Pro, or just get a regular RS3 for every use case?

The RSC2 with my Fuji X-S10 has been such an excellent compact setup for me this past year. That combo with any of Fuji’s compact f2 lenses weighs absolutely nothing so I can carry it all day no problem, and I can walk or ride my skateboard with it one handed and get great results. Not everyone needs every pro feature all the time, and I’ve found that I reach for the compact setup 75% of the time, while my bulky Ronin 2 and A7S III rig setup just collects dust.

A year late, but I went with the regular rs3 for my zv-e1 with 24-60 kit lens. The mini would gave been enough, but figured I'd future proof for bigger lenses. First gimbal ever, I'm so excited, it sgows up tonorrow.

Thanks for the review of each gimbals! The detachable battery, bluetooth control, autolocking system and more are honestly, great additions to the new Ronins! Though the old RSC2 is still at present, a great gimbal to use, I can say for certain, that the RS3 and 3Pro are both awesome upgrades from the RSC2

Using DJI ronin S locks up my Canon R5C camera when I hit record on the gimbal. Just checked the forums and thus is going on with new Dji ronin RS 3 pro also. Dji has known about this for over a year!

Thanks for making this! I literally upgraded from my ronin-S and bought an RSC2 about 10 days before they announced the RS3 line. I even searched for rumors of a new gimbal before buying and found nothing. I was considering keeping the RSC2 because not much seemed to be different. I changed my mind after this and am exchanging for an RS3 since I’m still well within the return window and I haven’t used the RSC2 except for testing! Appreciate the comparison between these 3 specifically, it was literally exactly what I needed!

An important consideration, beyond simple payload metrics, is the size of the arms on each gimbal and the center of gravity on your camera setup. For example, the Sony FX3 and a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens is within the payload constraints of the RS3 and I'm sure it would handle it just fine. However, my experience with running the FX3 with the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8, with the FX3 in a Tilta cage and a filter + matte box on the RSC2 is that it **usually** works, but sometimes the gimbal loses balance and locks out at the 70mm end, even though that setup is within the weight specs. Similarly, the original Ronin SC technically **should** be able to hold a full-frame mirrorless camera and lens, but you can't even balance the gimbal with the A7iv and a 14mm prime lens (small lens) because the arms and plates are too short and the center of gravity is too far forward. So, yes, pay attention to the payload constraints -- but unless your setup is perfectly shaped and balanced for the gimbal, you should go with the RS3 Pro if your rig is even approaching the RS3's weight limit.

Great Video! Just copped the RS3 as my Zhiyun Crane 2 got broken. But unless the FX3 isn't fully rigged out, you can use it on the RS3 just like all a7 cameras, as the FX3 is like 50g lighter than the a7sIII

Completely loving the detail of your review. Please just sort out the dropped frames - they really don't do justice to your content or filming. That aside ... I really appreciate you taking the time to shoot this, edit, post, etc., ... people just don't realise how much time that takes. (And we haven't even touched on the story-boarding prep that goes into these vids)! I'm shooting with a teeny-tiny MFT Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mk II. The smaller / lighter body and lenses make it great for throwing in the backpack when I'm skiing / snowboarding, rock-climbing, etc., ... So I probably just need an RS 3 BUT ... I'm trying to find a way to turn my MF f/0.95 lens into an AF lens ... and apparently the LiDAR and Focus Pull only work with the RS 3 Pro. That said, nothing I've seen so far indicates that these items plug into the gimbal - although some photos seem to show them plugging into the RaveyEye which then plugs into the gimbal. So I need to test that woth the RS 3. BUT ... being in New Zealand with a total population of 4.9 million ... we just don't get a lot of stuff to play with :( Patience is a virtue ... 🤣🤣 Thanks again for taking the time to create this - glad you have a solid noggin 🤣

The Sony A7S iii with an 24-70mm F2.8 lens barely fits on the RS 3. I think if you use this setup you are better off with the RS3 Pro (even though DJI says otherwise).

@@artzbug5521 I ended up getting the regular rs3 for my fx3 24-70 and I definitely think it would be too much for the mini , I have a buddy that does it but its at its max on hois mini , I like to give my motors a little breathing room , just my opinion , yes if you are just doing it every once in awhile sure , but even when I put my regular rs3 in suitcase mode Im maxing out my motors on the regular rs3 , but yeah I was wrong about this statement I originally made 2 months ago , several of my buddies have this same setup right now

Great video, quick question, in the video there is a shot of the DJI guy using the dual handles but on the DJI site i can only find the basic handles. I like the ones he is using as the right hand side has a control handle and a cable. Do you know which one this is? the part is at 8:28 in your video. Once again a great video too.

With a Sony ECM B1M microphone,the RS2 and RS3 cannot be held inverted as there is not much clearance. The mic will hit one of the arms.

Idk. The FX3 and say, the 14mm GM only come in at 1193 grams. I don't see the validity of recommending the Pro for it 100 percent. Body is only a hundred grams over the A7SIII.

@LizziePeirce, You mentioned the weight being the biggest difference. How does the integrated subject tracking on the Pro factor in for you? I've never had a gimbal but being able to do subject tracking without a phone attached sounds like a massive asset.

Nice video! I would like to know if there is a possibility of powering the RS3 externally. I know that Power Supply Baseplate with D-Tap & NATO Mount is only available for the Ronin RS3 Pro. Do you think it would be good for the RS3 as well?

The payload of the RSC2 was not mentioned? Whaaaaaaattt?? 14hrs battery life out of the RSC2 - NO WAY!! Most I get out of the RSC2 is around 8 to 9 hours and I have tested this on multiple full days. Leaving it in standby mode might get you to 14hrs. My setup is pretty heavy and I think I might be maxing out the payload, which could also affect the battery life but the payload max was not mentioned 😂 (Sony A7iii + Sigma Art 24/70 f2.8)

I bought the RS3 not too long ago and I love it, however I am having an issue with it. When I connect my GH5 to the RS3 using the USB-C cable I can use all the functions like the record button and focus dial on the gimbal, but after a few minutes it disconnects. Has anyone else had this problem? I can't seem to solve it even with the help of DJI tech team.

Can the Ronin RS3 support active track if you have the raven eye and use your phone as a monitor. It looks like the pro only has the active track feature on the 1.8 touch screen but can I access that feature still within the DJI app using raven eye?
