Hello Sam, glad to hear your perspective on things. I wonder how you feel about joining reserves at 31? I think if I was to consider rejoining, reserves would probably be the way forward. At 31 years of age now, mentally, I'm not sure how I'd cope with younger mentalities. I was in recruit training at 25/26 and was loving learning about filed craft and being on range. I miss it somewhat even in the shit moments but the feeling of wanting it so badly and having not succeeded in what I set out to do kind of lingers. I'm a visual artist and quite introverted also, so being in such a large company kind of made things difficult. especially when some idea of a laugh is farting constantly or pissing on each other in the showers *smh* I wouldve pushed through being in hunter twice but just had enough. needed my freedom, time to explore visual arts more and chance to resolve my injuries in my own way.
@CompleteCommando

Hey mate agreed. I'd go reserves. Normally quite a lot of working professionals. We have a brain surgeon at our unit etc. I wouldn't go full time now. At 30, I'd go reserves unless you wanted a completely different life.

Hi Mate, Great video and content! Wanted to ask a couple questions, just turned 26 and thinking of joining up to the reserves (mainly because I have a mortgage and need to keep up payments!). I was just wondering, as a Reservist, can you ask for more and longer deployments or are you limited to how many you can go on? Second question - If I pass out as a reservist, and decide I love the military more than my current job, can I go full time as a RM Commando, or would I need to redo all the training? Thank you!

@Tempus__Fugitive
@Tempus__Fugitive 3 жыл бұрын
@@CompleteCommando Things may have changed since my time (left the RMR in 2003) but back then the pass rate for the RMR was far lower. In my case I was the only one to get through from an initial starting troop of around 40, not counting all the backtrooped guys who didn't make it either. Most of the time there were 3-4 that passed from each intake. As a ballpark figure I'd have put it at a one in ten pass rate from the start of training. It would be interesting to see if it has changed much.
@CompleteCommando
@CompleteCommando 3 жыл бұрын
@@Tempus__FugitiveIn my opinion that's the way it should be mate. I'm not entirely sure of the figures for RMR now but I know it's definitely not that low. They are desperate to hit targets and to be fair to the RMR they have a lot of pressure on them from MPs.
