The reason you couldn't select Mirage Saloon Act 1 was because you were in time attack and since act 1 is an airplane level so it's not really suited for time trials

The entirety of “Altitude limit” from sonic rush always did my head in with all the instant kill everywhere

If we're going for most frustrating, I always think Eggmanland from Sonic Unleashed.

I don't think that the Time Eater is too bad, my main issue with it is that it doesn't say you need to hold the bumpers at the end. That is what prevented me from beating the game, I kept mashing them to no avail and took a rage-induced years long break from the game. All because of that.

You should frozen factory act 3 from the 3ds version of lost world to this list. It’s by far the worst stage I’ve ever played.

Mirage Saloon Act 2 is like UNIVERSALLY considered one of the best levels in Mania. You were thinking of Sonic's Act 1 which is basically Sky Chase from Sonic 2. Even then, Act 1 isn't bad, just boring. Knuckle's actually has an exclusive Act 1 to this stage, which is also fantastic. Encore mode also has a different act 1 which is similar to Knuckle's Act 1, also a great level lol

Unpopular Opinion:Planet Wisp Act 2 is my favourite level in Generations, the forest section is challenging, full of alternative routes and lots of chances to boost and trick and the factory section is full of very fun, tight 2D platforming with lots of challenge and precision

Blue Marine Zone Act 2 (Sonic Blast), The Doom (Shadow 2005), End Of The World (Sonic 06), Arid Sands Night (Unleashed) and Frozen Factory Act 3 (Lost World 3DS) are easy contenders for the single worst Sonic level.

Not gonna lie, a lot of these picks are weird and are levels that I wouldn't consider the worst of the worst or even bad. Tropical Jungle, which is one of the shortest levels in the game that is arguably easier than Wave Ocean? Sweet Mountain for the game that has a level that is literally about running in a circle? Aquatic Mine for the game that has Mad Space? Desert Ruins 3 for the game that has a level with extremely slow autoscrolling and a level with an awkward to control snowball form? Casino Park, when the level right after is much longer and has death pits in the middle of pinball tables? Carnival Night for the game that has an Act that is all about stopping to push switches and pull on pulleys?
