@Rich Boulton I tend to buy Lidle gold-blend as its much cheaper than twinings and tastes really good when I do get twinnings though I tend to buy it in bulk / or get it as gifts from family. Fortunately Twinning every day is not so expensive tea pigs will set you back £4 for 25 teabags 😱. KZfaq money goes on FFB joysticks! 😆

I enjoy landscape photography so on top of enjoying flying around, I'm going to be using this as a tool to scout areas based on time of day/year. There's a lot of other uses for this beyond flying, I think.

I got the standard version. It has enough content to keep busy for a while and I expect the premium deluxe content to be offered on discount in the future.

You speak the truth and it s nice to hear. I m also a hard core flight simmer but I mainly fly the PMDG 737 which I ll have to buy separate anyway. Also I m in Montreal and my airport isn t part of the hand crafted airports. So I could buy the standard edition and I d be fine. But i m considering buying the deluxe edition just to encourage Microsoft for finally coming up with this great simulator .

Do you know if you buy the standard edition if you can download the additional airports later or individually? I’ve done the £1 store trial, but not sure if that will work with VR when it’s added in about a month - but will buy the full version later anyway on steam. As for 2D, that external view looks a better way to play than internal. It would be interesting to see on screen system stats if you haven’t done already, to see if there is a cpu or gpu bottleneck or which is closer

Nice quick overview of the editions, regarding advantages and disadvantages, services and download considerations. Really good one and very helpful. I think I'm going for standard edition on steam. pre-ordered on MS store but canceled that one, because of Steam release, just to have it in my steam libary, rather than have it in aweful MS store and in hidden folder path on my hard drive. Really looking forward to community fly events with the FLYING MUSCLE. ;)

How is your steam download going? Is it handling the full download and pausable? Or is it still using Microsoft's downloader after the initial 1GB download? currently having some download issues... Thanks... S

Steve A everything downloaded within 1 hour, without any complication, except from running flightsim.exe as admin, to work around no download at all.

I've never played flight sims, but I'm seriously considering getting the sim. Gamepass sounds like the best option for me. I've got a beefy PC with VR, so if I really like the sim, I might go all in later. As I'm really into sim racing, a second rabbit hole sounds fun.

Im a hard core simmer but for everyone else I totally recommend the game pass i mean even not talking about this game i recommend the game pass in general and if you like it after that point I would recommend buying it or really buying any 3rd party stuff you want.

I know this will be hard to answer with the limited amount of time you've had with the premium aircraft but do any of them feel worth paying the extra for, most notably the 787? Or similarly are there any you would miss if you were forced onto the basic edition?

I'm the wrong person to ask , they all fly like planes personally I'd not really miss them as I'm happy with just the basic planes and I'm more about looking out the window and how the weather affects small planes :)

When flying through a new city how dafaq are you meant to find the airports? Do they show up on the flight map or something?

Another advantage or the steam version is that you get access to the .exe file and all the files required to run the game, in MS store you only get 2 folders and the store manages everything else

Great guide. Gamepass and my Win 10 don't like each other, so that's ruled out for me. My nearest airport is a small regional Aussie airport, so it'll never be handcrafted, and my nearest major airport is YSSY, which is in the standard version, so I'm all good with the standard version. I'd like the Beechcraft Baron 58 you're flying, but it's not worth the extra money for the Deluxe version of the game.

I would've want to know if for the gamepass version we will be able to buy things from the market place in the future or if we need to buy the standard version. For games on gamepass i cannot buy anyhting. So it would've been worth mentioning if there are some information for that :D

You can Manually cache places , you load the game up and set a location you want to download and keep on the hard drive that way even if you have slow internet you could DL it and then fly it in high detail. I think there is a video online already showing the difference with the base low detail mode if you googe it :)

I wouldn't say that buying the premium deluxe version is the only thing that hardcore flight simmers would do. I would consider myself a hardcore flight simmer and Ive flown myself irl, but I've spent my money on getting a PC that runs the game well and can't afford to get the premium deluxe version. I'm getting the standard, because 1. I can't afford the premium deluxe 2. I'm far more of a military flight simmer so I'd prefer to wait for more military planes to pop up on the in-game store. The handcrafted airports are tempted, and I would if I had the money, but I wouldn't pay double for the extra planes since I likely won't fly them too much anyway.

Awaiting a T1600M stick to arrive from Thrustmaster so I can play tomorrow, couldn't even get the stick because it's all sold out right now. Im sure the steam 2 hour policy only applies to actual play time (from the moment you launch the game)? Not the amount of time you have owned the game for.

It will take an hour or so to install the game through the game as the games update takes place in the game not through steam

Yes, but since the majority of the download will happen inside the game, and you have already said that it is measured from the moment you launch the game - I think you can put together the pieces.

Gamepass is a bit of a no brainer if your happy with the standard version. The flight sim and a load of other good games for a small monthly fee.

I was tempted with the premium version because of 787 & longitude, haha.. but if it's mostly eye candy and system simulation wise is... you know what I mean... what should I expect it's still part of the default aircraft anyway, so no way it's going to be study level or at least close to it. Unless somebody can mod one of those like zibo, haha... that would be great. I might as well just get the standard and wait for the 3rd party :-)

I assume as i have a steam VR HMD that i will want the steam store version. I just wonder if there will be any even just minor performance differences between the store versions. I assume not but i have watched this happen before between oculus and steam store where one store version has better performance. anyways its a bit early to know that yet but was thinking of playing on tv monitor until then so i will need to make a choice soon.

I am one of these btw) then pick it up. There's no logic in putting so much money on a product you don't even know if you're gonna make use of.

@@jakepet3137 I am not even into flight sims. The first 2 things i did was looking at Rotterdam because i am close and all the landmarks were missing. Then i did go to Tioman Island because that was my first far holiday and because it is one of the hardest places to land. That are the kind of missions i will play. So the €1 pricetag seems right for me ;)

Thanks for the video... I'm still on the fence due to the aiports more than the planes. Not a hard core flight SIM player but would like the airports esp Heathrow. Any chance of seeing the difference between the modelled and non modelled versions? Also any news on either upgrade paths or costs in the built in store? Thanks

Grab the gamepass PC beta for a month for £1 and try it drops at midnight tonight here in the uk but ensure you have 150Gb drive space. I am doing exactly that and will probably get the premium deluxe version at a later date. It is rare that such a popular and hyped game is even making it to something like xbox game pass x

@@RobertDodge Seemed like a good idea... so went for it via the gamepass beta. Now in MS download hell. My internet connection is relatively slow especially for such a big download. About 14Mb/s (not MB) so I need need to be able to stop and resume download over a day or 3. Now have some strange part install that hangs on a black windowed screen with a loading bar.... is it still downloading? Really wanted the steam version? Can I go through with this again? Would the steam version have been better? Does it also download the 1Gb initial download 1st? How is everyone else getting on? Not to impressed so far Microsoft.

Update for anyone who's interested.... Left PC off for a few hours. Started up ms flight simulator and when checking for updates this time the progress bar with Update (and now pause button while downloading) has returned. Only concern now us that the progress showed only 11GB and the total 63.74GB rather than 90 something... so hope I don't end up with a part corrupted installation.... Will update again here but will likely be at least tomorrow before I've downloaded the remaining 48 GB. Fingers crossed 🙄

No it will not corrupt will just continue from where it left off I am definitely holding back on anything other than this gamepass version at the moment 8 times I had continue the downloads, a few of my friends who bought it are missing their extra content and a couple have joystick incompatibility. This needs a good patch I think.

Up and running... quite impressed so far... Some very funny/dodgy traffic AI 🤣 and the buildings local to me in East Midlands could really do with some work.... My home town looks something like a war torn Eastern block city due to building work going on. hopefully Bing maps will eventually update that with time. Currently I am reverting to thinking I'll buy the base version eventually rather than the topend one but I've not yet had a good look at the fully hand crafted airports yet. If I upgrade and buy... I would have preferred the buy on steam... not relishing the 1.5 day or so download time again if I do that. If I buy through steam or gamepass... ,(I'll not want to keep that as I don't believe in that system of subscription) can I avoid downloading again? If I have to anyway via gamepass I'll likely redownload via steamat some point. Glad I got there in the end. Strange bitty download system though and at least two times looked like it had installed when it still needed to update/download content...

I think I'm a hardcore simmer. I got a premium on steam and I know the systems of default planes ain't completed at all, I mean it's very low fidelity. I always doubt myself should I go for the premium. But for some high detail airports, maps, they may worth buying. What I know for VFR flying, environmental information is very important. Terrain, buildings are important things for navigation. I believe it will worth it for some visual navigation training. Especially for emergency situation training. The Standard is good as well, just depends on how many places you want to fly and how many time you want to spend on each place.

3:39 Good tip with the game pass ... I would shelf out any price fro the ultimate edition ... as I have done in the past ... I even bought MSFS-X 2 times as ultimate ... but when that came out it took me 3 years to get a system that it was not overly struggling on ... and I am not sure my system is up to snuff for the current version (... or more like I'm pretty sure my system isn't ... after all it is only a low power I7 and 1070)

You can buy it directly from Microsoft without re-installing. Don't know about Steam though.

i bought the 40th Anniversary Deluxe on Steam sale for 59€ and i'm just missing the 787 Dreamliner. i should have buying the Premium Deluxe but i love it anyway. i'm playing at high settings on i7 7700k, rtx 4060, 16gb and installation on 1tb 860 evo. with Frame Generation activated i get 50-100+ fps. this game makes it very comfortable to travel around the world and to see all the beautiful places. in far more than 1000 hours i've "learned" flying on a 737 in XPlane 11 and to buy MSFS2020 was the next logical step. i think i'm flying the TBM930 the most bec it's pretty fast and it's possible to land the Daher literally everywhere. same as the Cessna 208 Grand Caravan.

Played this game using game pass on PC. Using a Xbox One controller and keyboard. Now i want it all, not in terms of in-game content but a yoke/joystick, pedals and what not. I'll probably go for the standard edition over on Steam. I want helicopters now.

I fly x-plane quite a bit... And I rarely ever fly out of major airports. I love flying areas I know or island hopping in British Columbia. My computer is LOW end, but might be worth upgrading a bit.

I will miss VR so much. The graphics difference to xplane with Orbx or Photo tiles is not that big. But the clouds in msfs look beautiful.

Thanks for justifying my reasoning to go cheap and play it on the gamepass. At some point I'll buy the game outright because it's bound to come down in price after release and maybe get included in discounts. The big question for me is whether to get in on steam or windows store. Not sure which would be a better platform for future DLC discounts, if at all.

I normally buy all my games on steam but because this is doing all the downloading in-game and its a Microsoft game Id personally buy it on Microsoft store , to be honest microsoft store on windows is not so bad as you can just add a link to desktop and you are good so you don't even have to look at the store layout stuff if you dont want to.

@GamerMuscleVideos I’d really recommend steam, the Microsoft Windows store has got better, but it really does not manage game installs\downloads very well, not sure if you were part of the Alpha\Beta or only jumped on the press release, but given the choice I’d take steam every day and I’d like to explain my experiences with FS2020 but I’ll just say nothing. I’ve been with gamepass since it was beta, to this day it’s ok if everything goes smoothly, but if something cocks up, or an update is too big, or you want to move files it can get beyond pulling teeth, the way windows locks the files is just *****, I would not even touch the windows store file permissions with a barge pole. I really can’t recall ever having any issues on steam apart from trying to play older games like Crysis, but that’s not exactly steams problem.

The 2 hour steam refund thing is 2 hours of gameplay. But I don't believe they are that strict. I have succesfully refunded a game that I owned for months while steam says you need to refund it within 2 weeks.

If you buy via the Microsoft store, you'll get what's called a "play anywhere" version of the title, which means you can play on either Windows PC or the Xbox console for the price of one.

Gamepass for me, can't wait to see the beautiful slideshow from my 1080Ti on my 49" 4k monitor. And when the new GPU's come out in VR at 2160 x 2160 per eye on the G2, if they are up to doing it justice.

hello my question is this..i have just bought another computer coming this week so i now need to buy the game..which is best..actual disc's or digital download or steam if its on that, not cost but actual playing quality as far as graphics etc are concerned..does playing off disc's lag perhaps or maybe you install all 10 and then its the same as a download...thank you

The disk version will still use hard drive space. To be honest as it's a Microsoft game makes sense to just get it from the windows store.
