Only problem is: the mod wasnt made by lucasfilm or disney so you cant really say that the stats are accurate (even if the gameplay makes sence). Honestly, this whole video judges ship safety, mostly on the location of crew quarters. But if you think about it during combat, crew quarters are going to be virtually empty as the crew would be manning their battle stations. Furthermore, since this is the case, these empty crew quarters during battle could honestly act as a buffer between the rest of the ship and hull damage.

Another point for the Victory is you don't see too many Jedi serving aboard, meaning they can't do something incredibly reckless to endanger the ship. Plus they were prime targets during the war for numerous reasons. Their ships usually got destroyed to show the cost of war, which is nice for the audience but not the ensemble.

Don't hold your breath. Current Lucasfilm has a moratorium on stuff they deem affliated with the Expanded Universe. And the Victory was born in the EU. You're never going to see it, Lucas had his chance to portray it in the last scenes of SW:ROTS in 05, but he (for some unfathomably stupid reason) left it out. I want to see it too, but with the state of Star Wars since 2014, I wouldn't get my hopes up for anything.

@jimmyyoudkiy4646
@jimmyyoudkiy4646 Жыл бұрын
Im pretty sure the best ship to serve on is actually the Arquitens is probably the best ship to serve on, its a patrol craft, designed to keep an eye on small systems and in larger engagements deal with fighters, which it was more than equipped to deal with. The example from TCW wasn't a showcase of it awfulness, it was a showcase of that ship commanders incompetence, it would be like a WW2 destroyer going up against a Battleship and expecting to win, or to bring it back to starwars, like Leia's corvette in starwars ep 4 trying to 1v1 a star destroyer, simply not what it was designed to do. In terms of survivability it may actually be the best due to the simple fact its faster than most large warships, and most importantly of all, NO ONE expects you to fight a Providence in that thing, you wont be court-martialed or executed for running away because thats part of your job, in a Venator or Victory I they would expect you to take the 50/50 odds.
@snapshotinhistory1367
@snapshotinhistory1367 Жыл бұрын
The guys at Samar would say something about the "WW2 destroyer against a battleship and expecting to win" thing, yeah 2 of the 3 got sunk, but they put up a valiant fight. Their armor was so thin that the huge AP rounds for the CAs and BBs just passed right through them, until they finally switched to HE shells. And the American Taffy 3 WON, even though outmanned, outgunned, outweighed ,and outnumbered heavily by the IJN Center Force. The true comparison is the light cruiser vs a battleship; armor thin enough to let the round through, thick enough to arm the shell, causing catastrophic damage.

I feel that another factor you should've examined was the roles and situations the various ships were used in. For example, the Arquitens was an escort used to screen larger vessels, and was usually going to be in dangerous positions during fleet combat. Also, the Venator was essentially the ship of the line, meaning that it was at the forefront of the war, was relied on for direct capital ship combat (at which it did not excel), and was almost used as expendable cannon fodder due to its ubiquity and relative versatility. Having said that, I agree with your assessments and rankings. The Acclamator was a well-made, durable, and versatile, but lacked the heavy firepower of the Victory that allowed it to effectively fight back.

The Acclamator may be the best workhorse of the republic, getting troops, supplies, vehicles, fighters in and out, but it's not a warship meant for direct combat. It's weapons/armor/shiedling are meant mainly for self defense while it preforms its primary role as a transport, moving troops from battlefield to battlefield. In regard to combat it is the worst of the four ships.

So the Victory is in a weird place in Star Wars cannon right now, due to a Vader comic, Armada game, and the Tarken novel, it is technically canon, but we never actually see it in any of the digital media; movies, TV shows, cartoons, video games. And I think this is a real shame, because recently Disney has been making a shit tone of content based on the time line the Victory would have been in use; the last year of the clone wars and the beginning years of the Empire. It could have fit so well into the final season of the Clone Wars, into Bad Batch, Andor, Kenobi, Rebels, Rogue One, just soooo many missed opertunities.

I wouldn't be too hard on the arquitensns class of ship. It is a light cruiser made for patrols, recon, and to aid in fighter screening. It's 4 twin mounted light turbolasers can make short work of freighters or help against light frigates. The 4 quad laser cannons help against fighters. And it can also carry 4 missile/ proton torpedo tubes. It is made for light duties, so unless you charge in against a larger vessel like you have one brain cell you should be alright. Just sit beside or behind some victory class ships, screen fighters and help destroy light frigates so the victory can more easily focus fire.
@Ethan0433

This. The clip used showed a Arquitens trying to facetank a Frigate known for it's firepower, as well as a Destroyer, and being damaged but intact despite running directly into the fire of 2 ships that significantly outgunned it. Given it's basically a heavy corvette, the fact it got that close without immediately blowing up is impressive. That being said, it should be behind a larger ship putting missiles and turbolaser fire on larger ships with wear down the shields, and hitting fighters and bombers with the light lasers.

It's safe to say all republic vessels lacked survivability. Sure, you can argue the acclamator, but they get also obliterated by geonosian starfighters enne mass in the first invasion of geonosis, and...well. we all know the victory class in empire at war is significantly weak once you take out it's shield generators, and crumple under sustained fire just like the venators.

I believe the Acclamator should have been the Nr.1, due to it’s troop carrying ability many were kept at the rear of formations to protect the ground troops. The victory class star destroyers were brawlers meant to dive into enemy formations and get into heavy slugging matches. The risk to your life was much greater on a victory class than on an Acclamator. Also the Victories only were introduced fairly late in the war so for the first years the Acclamator would reign supreme anyways.

Only comment that I have would be this. During a battle (i.e Battlestations) just who on the crew would actually be in their quarters? On ships when at battlestations/actions stations no one is in their quarters or in their rack. Everyone is up and manning a post or performing some duty. How do i know? Well that's what we do in the Navy. So to say that such and such is horrible cause of where the crew quarters are located I think causes error when trying to assess crew risk. Having said that I generally dont have an issue with the overall rankings. I mean after the fighting is done and over those folks whos quarters no longer exist will see a marked decline in their moral since they most likely will end up hot bunking with those who still have intact accomodations until the ship is repaired in a dock.

@Geetsly's That clip you showed of the Arquitens was misinterpreted. Considering that the aclemators were designed for planetary assault it would stand to reason that they are required to be heavily armored relying more on defense rather and offense since it would suck to have a single acclator blow up loosing hundreds and thousands of men and more importantly materials such as all of the tanks, LAAT’s, speeders, munitions ect that are packed into these things only for one to be blown out of the high orbit to come crashing down onto a planet due to a planetary defense weapon and so personally The acclemator is by far one of the most safest ship to be on when not in a fight but even if that’s the case then there’s still a higher possibility of survival than any of the other but, considering that you’re on a high priority target it makes the ship’s durability almost redundant since most enemy warships or planetary defenses would be targeting your ship more so than any of the others, hence negating the fact that the ship has the strongest shields and thickest of armor when in reality your the the biggest and mostly likeliest of targets

I think being on acclamator would be best for both quality of life and survivability. In general land battles seem much more survivable than space battles, and clones seem relatively glory driven and fighting on the ground or flying an LAAT seems more rewarding for a clone than crewing a turbolaser. Since the acclamator usually sends most of its crew to the surface as soon as it is in range I think a clone would rather be stationed there.

A definite flaw I see with the Acclamator is that if it were to be brought down so much would be lost in just one ship.

The Venator would be fine, if you got stationed with an Admiral who understood its strengths and weaknesses, and had a decent enough picketline of ships to match his fleet. Really, anyone smart knew the Venator was a great ship if you kept it behind the main line as a battle-carrier with a scary point defense line and decent range. It was just fine to serve on, problem was, everyone who captained one was an idiot outside of Yularen and even he was forced to throw the Resolute into some stupid situations because, well, plot. All in all, you get a conservative fleet commander who knows what he or she is doing, you'll be fine on that thing.

I have a pretty nasty conspiracy theory on The Venator's many unforgivable flaws. Every single one of them was fully intended to be that way, because Venators were actually not primarily meant as warships to fight enemy fleets with. Rather, they were strictly built as death ships (Space Morgues/Coffins) for everyone on board, and fully intended that way! We must remember, that everything about The Clone Wars (Including The Capital Ships on both sides of the conflict) was all orchestrated, and designed by Palpatine (And Plagueis). With some rare exceptions (Cortosis Battle Droids, Maul's rise to power on Mandalore, and others), nothing that was done pertaining to the war was ever done without Palpatine/Plagueis/Dooku overseeing it, or at least giving their approval/permission to go along with it. We must also remember that all three of them were Sith, so you must expect everything they're doing has some malicious intent to bring terrible pain, suffering, and death to their victims, even while also manipulating the political system of The Republic simultaneously to their will, as they do it. What if, the reason Palpatine built The Venators the way they were (Disgustingly high crew requirements; crew quarters close to almost all the enemy fire in any heated battle; terrible hangar design; and severely moff-balling the armament for a ship of its size (The "It's meant as a carrier role" excuse doesn't work, because even carriers have much, MUCH more firepower than merely 10 FREAKING TURBOLASERS (Even if 8/10 were Heavy Turbolasers) with just about all other weaponry simply being point-defense laser cannons. Laser cannons aren't meant for Capital Ship combat, they're meant for shooting down enemy starfighters getting too close to your ship, Turbolasers handle Capital Ship combat, not Laser Cannons! A ship over 1,100 meters in length should NEVER, under ANY circumstances be armed with merely 10 Stinking Turbolasers for THE ENTIRE SHIP!!!)), was to effectively Holocaust the people of the galaxy by conscripting (I.E, drafting people against their wishes to join the war effort) as many of them as physically possible to serve on these Venators, and face certain death, and bloodshed, just to make the casualty levels in the war look extremely high, like this war is just so damn dangerous, and serious, that everyone must play a role in fighting these "barbaric" Separatists? And not only to sell propaganda points for The Republic War Effort, but to satisfy The Sith's unrelenting desire to feed on pain, death, and suffering on such a massive scale across the galaxy? Oh, and did I mention that The Palpatine-Controlled media for both The Republic, and The Separatists routinely labeled these ships as "Jedi Crusiers", like some sick attempt to put blame for all the people killed when these death ships went to their deaths in battle on The Jedi, trying to brainwash everyone into hating The Jedi even more, while still pushing the narrative that it was a glorious honor to serve The Republic Navy, and be stationed on these ships? I really hope The New Republic had something going on for a Nuremberg Trial-type of event during their fight with The Empire, because once Palps, and the other Sith were dead, every single person working for Rothana Heavy Engineering, Kuat Drive Yards, and other similar corporations, as well as surviving Imperial leadership who remembered The Clone Wars, and/or was involved in The Development of The Venator-Class Life Destroyer should have been found guilty of Crimes against Civilization (Star Wars equivalent of "Crimes against Humanity") and sentenced to an extremely brutal, and horrific death! (Similar to how much brutal, and horrific death, and suffering they wrought on countless people, families, and worlds in the galaxy with their evil invention!)

So, I think it's a nice theory but.. you are kinda neglecting the part where every ship on this list was part of the republic and thus would have had some involvement from palpatine. Infact, where the clone wars initially only had acclamators, it wasn't until later they adopted the venators. If the venators were designed for "maximum suffering" as you suggest, then logically speaking all these ships would be. But only the venator supposedly is. At the same time.. Palpatine is looking at things from a grand strategical outlook, he is not going to micromanage the design of a ship. At the same time, there was little to no conscription going on, the dying was mostly done by clones. Which the general populace cared painfully little about. Additionally sith do not "feed on pain" they can certainly use their own pain to feed their anger and overall emotions and a good few of them are certainly sadistic pricks, but sith don't just cause suffering for shits and giggles, it does not make them stronger unless we talk about some highly specific sith.

@@Gary_The_Metro Ok, sorry I couldn't respond a bit sooner, but now I will to your points. • About all the ships of The Republic, yes, I agree that Palpatine had to have some involvement in their design. But here's the thing: Palpatine perhaps had different ideas on what those other ships would be used for, other than The Venator. ° As for The Arquitens, once again, another ship that seemed to have been designed to kill the people on-board more-so than the enemy. (Not all that well armed, even for a ship that sized, even corvettes, and frigates could probably have more weapons than The Arquitens; Hull Strength that would make glass (Glass Bottle-type of glass, not Hurricane/Bulletproof kind) look like Beskar Armor by comparison; really terrible all around at what ever job it was meant to fulfill in general.) I even wonder if it could stand a chance against a rebel GR75 Cargo Hauler with how bad a ship it really was. ° Acclamators were meant to carry a lot of troops into battle on enemy worlds, and I'll admit it seems to have much more effort put into its effective design than The Venator/Arquitens. When you have this ship serving as your primary army troop transport across the galaxy to all the important battlefields, you certainly need those clones to stay alive enough to get to these battles, and actually be worth making on Kamino in the first place. And while Clones did exist on Venators as well, I would assume those clones mostly consisted of those that truly were "expendable" to Palpatine, since Venators didn't carry quite nearly as many troops to enemy worlds as Acclamators would, which would be more "worth keeping alive" in Palpatine's eyes, so that they could at least get onto the planet below, and put up a fight against The Droid Armies down there, even when most, if not all of them were killed in some very serious battles. The clones on Venators much of the time actually worked as essential staff (Janitors, Mechanics, Medics, maybe even Tactical Advisors) where the crew wasn't available. So they probably wouldn't be on enemy worlds, fighting Droids in full battle armor, and weaponry (Maybe side-arms, at most, in case of drunken brawls breaking out in the mess halls to restore order, or simply have something to fight with in case of the enemy boarding their ship). Those clones that DID actually do legitimate trooping work (The Actual Clone Soldiers that fought many of the battles) likely existed, and would be transported to the surface of a world by LAAT gunships, but not quite as many as there would be on an Acclamator. One other thing to remember about Acclamators, as well as Victory Star Destroyers, and Dreadnoughts, is that they would continue to serve in The Empire later on, while The Venator was retired, and scrapped ASAP to make way for The New Imperial/Tector Star Destroyers. Palpatine probably wanted to keep The Jedi out of Public Perception about these other ships (Which he couldn't do with The Venators, since they were commonly called "Jedi Cruisers" by many in the galaxy) so that their memory, and image wouldn't taint what people thought of these other ships as The Venators image already was. He really wanted to push The "Jedi are all evil traitors to The Republic/Empire that must be eliminated" narrative real hard (For Obivious reasons (Sith)), and it would be pretty stupid to do that, yet still use Jedi Cruisers/Venators simultaneously. So, maybe he built a ship that was deliberately built poorly, so that he could have a lot of Jedi be stationed on them often, which would influence public opinion about in such a way, and so he could get a lot of them killed, even before Order 66 happened. The other ships (Except for The Arquitens) would not commonly carry Jedi like that, so Palpatine could allow them to be built better, and more suited for war than The Venators, as these were ships actually worth keeping alive, by comparison. ° The Victorys. Again, a ship that Palpatine planned ahead if time to serve The Empire after The Clone Wars were over. Therefore, he allowed this ship to be built truly for fighting a war (Excellent Armored hull, particularly for a ship its size; lots, and lots of weapons; built for pure, unholy carnage to just medievally torture the enemy with, so harshly). This ship of only 900 meters in Length actually posed a reasonable threat to Clone Wars Era Lucrehulks, for crying out loud, on top of The Bulwarks that they were debuted to The Republic Navy a little early to fight against in particular!!! ° Dreadnoughts, and other Large Ships. On top of being future Imperial ships worth having around for that time period, these ships more than any other NEEDED to survive serious engagements, because if you lose one, that seriously blunts your war effort, with all that money, and resources put into one of these ships gone down the drain. Also, any Dreadnoughts, and other large ships in this era were not quite as commonplace yet as they would be under The Empire, and they never really saw much combat in The Clone Wars, anyway, simply serving as extra/beefed up backup firepower in defending very key worlds in The Core (Kuat, Coruscant, Corellia, Anaxes, etc.) from any Separatist attacks, however unlikely they may have been. This is already a long comment, let me make a Part 2.

@@Gary_The_Metro Before Part 2, I'll just point out that While The Republic only had Acclamators early on in the war, since it was early on in the war, it clearly hadn't got quite as heated, bloody, and deadly as it would get later on, especially during The Outer Rim Seiges late in the war. Much of The deadliness of the war later on may actually be attributed to the introduction of The Venator, and all hell, and purgatory broke out from there.

As much as I love the Venator, I've seen a fair share of them go down. However, I never really liked the Victory all that much, I'd rather not be stationed a ship that is so big with so much fire power that it makes me look like a mad tyrant, like what the later Star Destroyers that were based on it were, it's far to Imperial for my liking. Thus, my choice is clear, I'd go with the Acclemator.
