The duel between Yugi and Kaiba in Battle City is easily one of the most memorable duels in Yu-Gi-Oh! history for me.

Definitely. I loved the Dawn of the Duel arc in season 5 too-very wholesome. I wish we got to see more with Joey and him potentially beating Kaiba. Joey was the first to actually defeat Yugi, and Kaiba talks all of this shit to Joey, but doesn't know that he actually defeated him. I wish they would have at least had Kaiba discover this truth. Seeing Joey beat Yugi would have been interesting to watch. My top 3 duels (in no order) would be: •Yugi vs Atem •Yugi vs Marik •Yugi vs Kaiba rematch in duelist kingdom (not evil Kaiba)

@@Ozzmosisf35 Before Dark Side of Dimensions came out and we learned the plot was Kaiba was hellbent on defeating Atem since he never got to, I thought it was a perfect opportunity to acknowledge Joey beating Yugi by having Kaiba finding out about it and realizing he's the only one who hasn't. Wasted plot point there imo

Tbf, they don't spend 4.5 minutes Monologuing (if your a Heel) or Preaching about "Friendship"(if your a Face). They tend to get straight to the duel itself, which shouldn't take that long(unless someone is running a Countdown or Burn/Stall Deck). I'm of the personal mind that they should turn the Season Finale Duels into Multiparters, especially for Rival facing, as it could be a good way to recap the season by showing it through a different set of eyes...

What makes Yugi and Kaiba's rivarly the best in the franchise in my opinion is just the sheer fact the two never got along at the the end of it. Most rivals in the later series often started off fierce but they eventually became good friends/allies (Jaden and The Chazz, Yusei and Jack, Yuma and Shark and Kite to name). However, Yugi and Kaiba always maintained that hostile rivarly between them and they're always forced to team up because the villains threatened their love ones all the time

But they did get along after Battle City and Yugi clearly viewed Kaiba as a friend and it was clear by everything Kaiba did that Atem was also his friend. It’s why in DSOD he is so pissed he never got to give him what he considered a propper sendoff

@@mrbubbles6468 In the manga, Yugi and Kaiba never meet again after Battle City. So you really can't say they got along. Atem and Kaiba's relationship is also extremely toxic, and not presented as a good thing in DSOD.

I was a bit surprised that Team Taiyo didn't make the list, but then I did some research and realized it was only 4 episodes. Honestly, that it still felt as long as the other WRGP duels despite being shorter leaves me impressed, especially since it's my favorite of the WRGP duels.

I'm just disappointed that they never dubbed this duel in English, I feel like there was no good reason for them to not be. Then again, the whole final arc of 5Ds was sadly never dubbed, which is a real shame

I think the reason it felt longer was how Taiyo's strategy for the majority of the duel was stalling until they could summon their ace and hoping Yusei and Co. didn't catch on

Before watching: I’m going to guess either Zarc vs the world or the Noah duel. Wow, not even close. Guess the riding duels didn’t feel that long because they had more variety with all the players involved and the filler duels just drag so much they feel longer than they actually are.

Some long duels are very enjoyable in my opinion I feel like battle city duel between yugi and kaiba was long but than again it’s my favorite duel

I agree. I think one reason for me is that it uses it's time for the duel and not random other stuff, and it really feels like Yugi & Kiaba have grown and are really using advanced tactics and playing on a higher level. Also there was an entire filler arc before it too

Yugi vs. Pegasus is the OG LOOONG duel. And the Eng Dub did it well. My issue with Yugi vs Kaiba in battle city is that it has Joey's dream intertwined. Joey is good when he duels by himself, not mixing in this kind of thing.

I expected all of these specifically except the Noah duel (I invariably forget about it when thinking of memorable or important duels) because based on the metric of continual duels (i.e not like Yugo vs Yuri, which you mentioned) the only ones which would fit would obviously be a DM 'MC vs important plot character' duel, a 5Ds Riding Duels or Arc-V's Zarc vs the Lancers exactly. That being said, when predicting the placement I couldn't think of a 7 turn duel to come first because initially I'd completely forgotten that Team 5Ds vs Team New World was originally 7 episodes; in the dub they added Yusei's last turn (which opened Episode 137) onto the end of Episode 136 since they weren't dubbing Season 5, making the duel 6 episodes too (which honestly felt more appropriate, like you mentioned with the Yugi vs Marik duel). Personally I preferred the dub pacing, only so the next episode would have everyone still celebrating before the revelation of 'oh shit the Ark Cradle's still descending' sets in so the plot can continue how it did in the sub.

It kind of is odd how Vrains can manage to make short duels considering the characters in it play decks that are infamous for having single turns taking like 15 minutes just comboing.

man, DM really had some long-ass duels, I didn't even think about 5Ds, I was expecting this to be a DM-only list basically :D but it makes sense to consider these, and especially the Team 5Ds riding duels were a joy to watch

What also makes Clash In The Colosseum such a long duel was that Joey had his own subplot inside his head. It took up about 1 1/2 of the six episodes.

Clash in the Colosseum. I definitely remember watching all six episodes week to week on Kids WB as a kid. Both of them use whatever tactics to summon their Egyptian God Cards and Stall their attacks.

Team Ragnarok vs Team 5Ds was such an awesome duel especially when they introduced the Nordic gods every Saturday I would wake up at 11:30 to watch what will happen on kids WB and when yusei was in that lock I was like there's no way he's gonna get out of that but he did and my blood raced 100000 miles per second hyped asf that duel always get me in the mood to duel someone it was that good now I gotta watch it again

With the exception of Yugi vs Kaiba, all of the duel monsters era duels listed here are against the major arc villains (Pegasus, Noah, Marik, Dartz). Not too surprising that such duels ended up as extremely long, multi episode events. Bakura is the only major arc villain who never got a 5+ part episode final battle, ironically. Funny enough, 3 of these 5 above duels were all in season 3 of Yu-Gi-Oh duel monsters alone (1 in the Virtual World arc and 2 in the Battle City finals). That's 16 total episodes (5+5+6) for 3 total duels in season 3! Crazy xD Obviously 1 of these above duels was from season 1 Duelist Kingdom, and 1 was from the season 4 Orichalcos arc. But season 2 (the main Battle City early rounds) had a few 4 episode duels that don't qualify for this list.

8: 24. Yeah. This was my favorite riding duel too. But for me, it was because we see each of the trio have a won, nod depending from yusei to defeat all off them. And we see a lot of interinting rivary´s appering.

It's interesting that most of the Duels against the Filler Villain's took as long as they did. I guess you could call it "New Duelist Stink"...

Not really. They needed to fill time to get enough material to work with in regards to the main plot. The duels are literally designed to take up time. Convinced that’s why the WRGP was structured like it was originally, they thought they’d be stuck with it for much longer

Yugi vs. Kaiba in the battle city semi finals is my favorite duel on this list. I feel like Yusei vs. Zone could compete for this spot if in Zone's backstory he really did turn out to be Yusei from the future and not a guy who masqueraded as him. That was such a huge letdown after setting up such a great twist.

Out of all riding duels from the list my favorite also was the duel against team Ragnarok. I mean don't get me wrong Team 5D's is great, they are main trio. The protagonists if you will but in my oppinion Team Ragnarok was better written one yet they had a lot in common with team 5D's. Brave who was treasure hunter who wanned nothing more then money and fame ended up ditching that in order to take care of children much like how Crow done and i freaking loved it, plus the fact that Brave and Crow do share similar personality was also a huge plus. Then Dragan and Jack. Do i have to say anything about those two BUT biggest reason i loved team Ragnarok more are the Nordic gods

My 5 favorites of that list Yugi vs Kaiba Battle City Finals - a classic built up rivalry and while manga duel is decently long the anime dedicated a full ep to Yugi and Kaiba just powering and depowering their god cards back and forth plus it was long cause at least 2 of the eps focused on Joey's dream duels too Team 5ds vs Team New World - loved how t just started with Jack taking out both and then Jakob coming in and owning him and Crow and then just escalates to outside the lanes and the city is being damaged and for dub only it's the last thing they see of the series lol Yusei vs Z-One - a fun finale duel between the 2 as the fate of Neo Domino City is dependant on the outcome Yugi/Kaiba vs Dartz - despite being filler its always fun to have Yugi and Kaiba team up and Dartz's Oricalcos deck was fun and OP lol Yugi vs Marik - the Battle City finale and last shot at Yami Marik him abusing the crap out of Monster Reborn to keep getting back Ra was insane just how many methods he had lol

If you count Luna and Leo vs. Devak as a 5 parter, you would have to count Noah vs. Yugi and Kaiba as a 6 episodes duell because of the final attack was on episode 5 but his life points fall to zero in episode 6

I think z-arc vs the lancers had the potential to go longer if arc-V didn’t have that stupid intrusion penalty rule (or not have it be cutting your life points in half. Maybe you don’t get a draw phase your first turn? Not sure).

Kaiba vs Yugi in Battle City is BY FAR the worst duel in the franchise. My niece almost didn't want to keep watching because of it. When we got to season 4 I asked: what do you expect? She said: more long and pointless duels? I answered: it's written by the same writer as Virtual World. Being long and pointless is more of a canon's job. Then she lightened up: Then I expect cool new characters. This happened yesterday, after we took a five month long break from the series thanks to Kaiba vs Yugi. Manga material wasn't great, predictable and boring, but adaptation made it worse by making it long and saving the good animation for all the other duels, especially Noah's. That's the best duel in the original series. Z-one is the best final boss. I'd say Darkness from GX is the worst despite being a cool villain.

3:39 - 4:05 The duel becoming a Yami no Game is irrelevant. It is literally 1 duel. They did not restart LP. It becoming a Yami no Game doesn't change the outcome or extend the game in any way.

It's funny that you actually specified "Yugioh anime", but because you're so obsessed with a card game, you once again ignored Takahashi's vision of what Yugioh (Game King) is: many different games. The DUEL with the MOST EPISODES in the Yugioh anime is the Yami no RPG in the Final arc of Duel Monsters. Yami Yugi wakes up in episode 211 and Yami Bakura explains whats been happening and that is a game. The Yami no RPG between Yami Yugi and Yami Bakura begins in EP 211 and ends in 219 when Zorc/Yami Bakura is defeated. That is a total of 9 episodes. But that's only starting from when Yami Yugi wakes up. Yami Bakura was playing it episodes before that when he rewind time to save Bakura after Atem summoned Ra and beat him in episode 207. So it is in fact 13 episodes.
