While turning around a burned tree stump, I was shocked by what I found inside

What was the point of using burnt wood if you just remove all trace of it? Looked good with the burnt patches before you ground them out.
@cliffboulton87633 ай бұрын
@MosesOnAcid I agree, especially in the large gap. Sorry NDT but, to me at least. your circular ground out bits looked totally UNnatural. Would have looked much nicer left Black. Having said that, if you want to send it over to the UK, I'll pay the cost. LOL

Indeed. He should have use epoxy and just hollowed out the barrel form

Quite right, M.O.A. The original was much more interesting. It could have been made level in several different orientations as a table base, or left alone simply as an interesting object, indoors or out. “Less is more,” even during in reduction of an object. There is a reason art & craft aren’t the same.

So I watched the whole video. where was the shocking thing you found inside? Bunch of BS.

Since you don't appreciate art, the vase itself was what was in that burnt chunk of wood ! It was burnt hunk of wood and the vase emerged from it, get it yet ?? 🙄🙄🙄 Gorgeous piece ! Stay on the Maury and Judge Judy feeds please.

Nothing 'shocking'. Ignoring this channel, hate clickbait.
@dhtisme70344 ай бұрын
Very nice. But I think it would have looked better if you left all the black burnt insides alone & sprayed it w/your golden color. All the indentation marks from the little hand drill didn't do it justice.
@user-jr6ru7yo8n4 ай бұрын
Okay, I loved this piece of wood... Past tense. You sanded off that beautiful black color.. yes, I know it was burnt wood, but it was SUCH a beautiful contrast to the blond wood, wasnt there any way to just lightly sand the black color down and left it?? Or maybe used a clear resin to make it shine??

I agree.

Well you destroyed that piece, by sanding off the black.

Another misleading KZfaq video. I along with many others waited until the end of the video to see what the woodworker found in the stump but nothing was there. The title was coined in such a way as to make the viewer think something extra ordinary was found.
@caliblu-hair76394 ай бұрын
You destroyed the beauty of the wood when you gouged out the burnt areas. You could have just eased the edges of the burnt areas a bit to create smoother lines. Also the ‘design’ of your gouging was very poor. I’m sorry to be so mean, I don’t usually leave negative comments. You need to study art and design before you ruin any more material. Especially when you were brave enough to turn that stump, and managed a decently shaped vase-like object.

Looked better before you used the ball rotary tool. The burnt looked good.

I agree! I thought maybe resin was going in but nope! I feel it was ruined with those big gouges out of burned areas.

I definitely would have left the burnt areas. They were a testament to the extreme heat had endured 😊

Burnt and discarded. You brought back the memory of the tree with this beautiful piece. It is now immortal.

The finished piece looks good. I would have been fine with the black-burn in those hollows but this way looks good too. However, I kept waiting for the live electric cord or some other metal/drastic object to be uncovered ... I did not see anything that would have shocked me inside this piece of wood. While the turning video was good - the title was total click-bait!
@jshb97934 ай бұрын
That is a Masterpiece. It was hidden inside all along, and you coaxed it out of there. Amazing work!

No idea why people are complaining about the burned bits, you left exactly what was needed!! Its stunning, thanks for posting & for saving a beautiful piece wood...

Liked it a lot more with the natural inclusions and burn marks. I understand cleaning them up a bit, but drilling all the round holes in it took a lovely natural work to a much lesser level of beauty and art.

Speaking as a maker of things to sell, I would assume that he knows what his customer base likes, and he fashioned this piece accordingly. Art for art's sake is wonderful, but it seldom pays the rent.

That which you "found" inside the burnt wood was your genius. A burnt stump turned (no joke intended) into a truly exquisite piece of art. The author of the "click bait" comment should be pitied; no soul attuned to beauty. His loss.
@eadiesharp772512 күн бұрын
I loved the piece before it was shaped into is final artwork! The wood beforehand was strikingly beautiful! I was very happy with the final result as it shows that being damaged & still beautiful, doesnt mean you stop evolving. Great work! 💞
@steelandtreeE40719 күн бұрын
With my woodworking, I don't use any new wood. All reclaimed, salvage, and sawmill scrap. I don't take out any flaws or imperfections in the wood, I do my best to bring them out and accent them. I would have left the black from the burn, just use a brush to remove any loose char or dust. Shellac would have brought all the colors out.
@Bnick20094 ай бұрын
Nothing shocking. Clickbait.

I don't get it! He cleaned out most of the burnt part, but not all of it. To me, it looks unfinished!!! Why would he clean it out and not put a clear resin in the almost cleaned out spots? It just looks tacky, unfinished, and sloppy. This is not a good example of this man's skill.

I would have drilled out the center to run an electrical cord and then made it into a really cool lamp base. That would have given it practical application and light would shine on the art base forever. As a stand-alone piece of art, it's cool but it could have much better practical application.

May I ask the species of tree this was? That yellow wood reminds me of old furniture of my grandmother's. Maple? It's fascinating watching you transform it into something beautiful. Although the original piece was beautiful, too.

It looks nice, but what’s special about it? It’s not even hollowed out to use as a vase so it’s just a shelf place holder. I like wood pieces with a little more functionality than looks.

Given the cracks burnt look of the vase, I thought I would have gone for an over all darker, gothic looking color scheme. This could have been a horror movie prop if done right. I feel like this should have looked like the vase of some dark spirit or evil demon..
