They think they are always right about everything and they always use certain words to get their points across and take things out of context to make it seem like whatever the other person say is wrong. Ronaldo: I feel betrayed by Man United Also Ronaldo: - Season ends 22nd of May, shortly after, Jorge Mendes was spotted having meetings with club execs such as Todd Bohely and others in Europe, trying to engineer a move away from Utd - 2nd of July - about 6 whole weeks later - literally hands in transfer request, a few days before the team fly off to go on pre-season. Could have easily done this in May - Club still let him have the whole pre-season off, getting Mendes to keep looking for clubs. - Since then, Ronaldo has been playing catchup on his fitness, hence why he didn’t play many minutes at the start of the season. He’s literally not fit enough to start games because he missed the whole of preseason - At the Spurs game, arguably the best performance United have had in years. Once again, instead of praising the team, all we’re talking about is Ronaldo. He could have easily waited a few minutes, and had a private chat with the manager. Nope, once again, makes it all about him. - Same again with Fulham, late minute winner by an up and coming talent, but the headlines get stolen yet again by Ronaldo and his #1 fanboy Piers Morgan ??????

Its all about playing time. When Utd finished the season he knew there was no UCL football but there was no talk about leaving. It wasn't until Ten Hag was hired that he started talking about leaving.

It was dollars for doughnuts. I've read comments from people saying it was fascinating, which shows how little depth they have. Nothing that was said wasn't already known, while the questions were clearly all set up. Piers didn't challenge him on anything; it was just all about praising him. Also, while I have a lot of sympathy for what he went through, that doesn't excuse any of his actions in the past few weeks. To refuse to play, while then giving this interview and saying he doesn't respect his current manager is completely unprofessional. We all know it was done purely for him to get a move away too.

@@happysappy21 It was clearly an interview. These styles of interview are done all the time. The only difference is the level of controversy in the content itself. You never see an hour long interview with Messi where the reporter is interrogating him and doubting his responses. You can say that you wanted to see an interrogative interview, but you can't argue this wasn't an interview. Most interviews are just a standard question and answer process, with little to no push back. I would even argue that most of Man Utd's interviews and the media surrounding that club are also what you would call "advertorial" and non-confrontational.

Surely it would be more interesting if the interviewee , occasionally, challenged Ronaldo on some of the stuff he said, instead of sitting across from him with his hands down his pants drooling. @@kol9382 It would be more interesting if the interaction was challenging Ronaldo on his answers, but then it would be more of an interrogation or debate than an interview. Most interviews are non-confrontational. Ronaldo has done interviews with Sky Sports in the past and it was literally a standard question and answer interview, just like this one. The difference here is the content, not the format. The reason he didn't do this with BT is because they would've alerted Man Utd and he would've been prevented from doing it. Any journalist would've been happy to have this interview and not interrogate him, no matter the terms. It's a huge scoop.

I totally understand where Simon is coming from with the interview being an advert because it is supposed to be in that manner. whatever has happened from the preseason until now was just bunch of media talks. So i expect someone like Cristiano to express his side of the story and this was his platform. As much as i know that ManU doesn't require Ronaldo anymore, I never trust the media of the current world without hearing both ends of the story. To keep it simple, even a convict inside a court room is given his/her chance to defend themselves before a verdict can be reached. Let's wait and hear everything he has to say and then come to a decision.

what is there to "defend"? He had a family crises so he SKIPPED preseason which is fine, what wasn't fine was publicly saying he wanted to leave united at the same time and that he was ready to report to a new club. So it was bad enough to not show up to united but not bad enough if Bayern put a bid in? Total hypocrite. He's been ATROCIOUS this season for club and country. His scoring marks are among the championship level and he's done nothing for portugal in friendlies. His conversion rate is shocking, he's lost his pace, and not a single big club wanted him. He knows the consequences of his action and we all know that he doesn't want to continue in ManU so its quite obvious. If you really want to talk about stats in the middle of an ongoing season then we need to compare the minutes he was playing on the pitch. Brother we know that even Rashford was sulking in the past seasons and it turned worse after racial abuse he received while playing for England in the Euros. I am not going to take sides here. Imagine Simon debating against Piers on this subject. Given how clueless Piers is about everything football related, it would be like prime Tyson vs Audley Harrison. The only downside is both think CR is the best ever, which is ridiculous when so many stats literally support that Messi is the better footballer. Not to mention, that's so clear just having watched them over their careers.

From Messi and Michael Jordan to Rashford and Jack Grealish... they all do extended interviews without any confrontation. The only reason you have a problem with this one is because you don't like what Ronaldo is saying. The format is the same as they always are. It's the content that's different. When are they going to ask Foden about the punch up his mum was involved in, or ask Ten Hag why he said he wanted to keep Ronaldo and assumed he would be happy not starting, or ask Rooney whether he was really picking up Ronaldo's kids a few months ago? You know as well as I do that the media are almost always non-confrontational towards athletes in 1 on 1 interviews.

Anyone other than Piers would've done a great job. The entire interview should have started with "so your family crises was bad enough to skip united's preseason which is understandable, but why were you also publicly saying you wanted to leave the club and ready to report to a new clubs preseason immediately?" You don't see how United can be confused that if bayern was willing you'd have been on the next plane out, but united's preseason was irrelevant?

Simon is spot on. It has never occurred to anyone that Ronaldo might actually be lying. Piers Morgan was the first one to challenge Harry and his wife about the credibility of their claims. During the interview, Ronaldo said that has never met the Glazers. Here is a novel idea Ronaldo, if you have a grievance in the workplace, then take it to you employer, or are you really foolish enough to believe that the owners would not want to meet with you if you really wanted to? You are CR7 after all. Part of life is choices, you had a choice between complaining to the owners, and complaining to Piers Morgan. You made your choice, and must therefore accept the consequences that come with that choice.

But crazy thing is that if that was any other player that went through that then people would have used that to justify why they acted like this and they would have a lifetime pass for playing poorly and behaving badly. It lietrally happened with Mourinho/Martial. So in another Talksport interview Neil Warnock stated that when a player is sacked, then the club still retains the player's registration. Any team interested in signing the player MUST secure his registration from that club before they can sign that player. 1- Is that correct? 2- Is there any sackable offense committed by CR7? 3- if 1 & 2 are true, then could they sack him and hold his registration until the day after the winter transfer window closes?

Perfectly Summed Up !!! That's not an interview taken by Piers Morgan. No ! those are not the questions Morgan would have asked. These are all the questions, Cristiano Ronaldo wanted him to ask. It's like, He (CR7) was desperate to let the world know what's happening inside the Club and mostly inside his MIND. And Piers Morgan himself, admitted that C. Ronaldo approached him to take this interview, in the first place. He was planning this for a long time now. That's why he (CR7) took a 2 days sick leave from the club, and made this interview within those same 2 days.

Whilst I give credit to Piers for securing the interview, his conduct on it fell far below journalistic standards. He'd made his mind up about Ronaldo before the interview. He never once pushed on him about anything. The problem with Piers interviewing anyone is that his pre-conceived ideas about them cloud his judgement. He'd be far more suited to being a publicist than a journalist. And maybe those victims of phone hacking think the same too.

That's right. It is actually very likely that Morgan and Ronaldo spent some considerable time coming up with all those questions beforehand, Ronaldo probably wrote half of them himself. He was only ever going to talk about what he wanted to talk about. I've seen a few comments here asking what if someone else did the interview instead of Morgan, but the fact is, if Ronaldo started getting annoyed with any diffficult questions, he would just walk out of the interview, as he has done in the past. This staged interview was always going to be a dog and pony show.
