Whinlatter Forest is England's only mountainous forest and it is one of only two places in the Lake District with purpose-built mountain bike trails.
In this video I give a brief guide of the trails in Whinlatter and some of the facilities in the forest Visitor's Centre.
The views in this video are just my opinion, others may think differently.

The size of that sun at the 2nd viewpoint! Rode a couple trails up there today. Got a tad lost though

Whinlatter is a great trail centre especially as it drains a lot. But I am like you, give me natural any day. Another great video.

Went for the first time last weekend and loved it! Rode the blue as well as the red sections of the south loops. Surprisingly found the red uphill easier on the lungs, and more satisfying. Hoping to go back (asthma and knee injury permitting) around Easter and try the full red loops so this video was very useful for what to expect, informative and really well made!!!

Oh this will be a good one , being also a roadie I recently did a loop from brathwaite up whinlatter and back round bassenthwaite lake which has the best landscape really enjoyed it

Thanks mate. Gorgeous area isn't it? I've gone over Whinlatter on my road bike a few times too. Once as part of a 135 mile ride from Lancaster and back taking in Whinlatter and Honister passes. I was much fitter back then!

Great video never been here but hopefully visit next year, got a good idea of the trails now thanks 👍 What bike you riding it looks nice, I'm hoping to get a new one in the new year so many different options to choose from now when there in stock that is 😂

Glad you found the video useful mate. I'm on a Scott Spark 720. It's a 27.5in wheel, 120mm trail/xc bike. I think its good for most of the riding I do in the Lakes and Dales etc. The new Spark models with the internal rear shocks look amazing

@@Lakedistrictrider yes I've seen them they look very sleek, like yourself I like doing more natural trail riding so looking for a bike built more towards that, I also ride 27.5 but looking like my next bike will be a short travel 29er as everything seems to be on the big wheels now, do you use the twinlock on the bike much it seems like a really good idea never used anything like that before 👍

@@markpotts4428 yes mate, I use the Twinlock all the time. Not everyone likes it but I really do. My previous bike was a 2008 Spark that had the first generation of Twinlock. So I've been riding with Twinlock for 13 years. I would find it hard to ride without!

There is a red trail, which is the one I rode in the video, and a blue trail, which is a less technical trail. There are a few small jumps towards the end of the red trail but not lots.
