Oh my. I just loved this video. The baking of a vintage recipe, the tour, and especially the story reading. You are never too old for a good child's book. And I thank you for reminding us of that. God's blessing on you both.

Every Aunt in my family had a version of this drop cake. Yours was the base batter, but these were their additions. Usually measured at 1 1/2 cup. - Chopped raisins, dried apricots, walnuts, pecans or any combination thereof. One aunt would sub 1 cup of oatmeal for 1 cup of flour. We were directed to refrigerate for 1 hour, as the cakes hold a higher shape. One aunt insisted that they were not finished until they were glazed. It was so much fun listening to my Mom and her 5 sisters giving each other crap and laugh about not making this recipe correctly. But they loved to tease each other. Again, thanks for the memory refresher, as they have all passed now.

Thank you Lori. I just loved this video. My Mother was born in 1919 and every Christmas she would make Chewy Ginger cookies. She would get about a walnut size of dough, roll it into a ball, and then drop in a little bowl of sugar. These plus her Kifflings, were everyone’s favorite. I make them, but hers were better I think. I loved the tour of y’all’s home. So pretty. So cozy. And the, Mr. Brown reading the story of Bob the Snowman, a perfect ending. Thank you both.❤️✝️🙏🎄☃️

I remember my Mother making a batch of molasses cookies and all she had was black strap molasses. My Dad ate some and ended up in the bathroom, but he didn't complain. He loved molasses anything. Lol 🙂❤️

This recipe reminds me of the one that my Granny and my Momma would make! Wish I had gotten my Grannys n Mom's Recipe! They were like Tea Cakes. My Momma used to always make us Tea Cakes and I've made them for my Kids. Gingerbread Cakes n Cookies are my Christmas Favorites! I love eating Ginger with a Hot Cup of Coffee. Very warming to the body and soul in the Winter! I'm going to use this recipe and make some Ginger Cakes! Yummy! Gotta go to the store to get more molasses and ginger! I'm going to make double and maybe triple batches for my Grandchildren n Great Grandbabies! Maybe share some with my neighbors! I know they all will love them. I'm also gonna add in the clove and cinnamon! I do remember my Granny using them in hers! I can't Thank you enough for this recipe! Its a Winner! Thank you Mr Brown for the precious story at the end! Law Ms. Lori growing up we had short bread cookies always in the jar, fresh lard made biscuits, was always a jar of honey and molasses on the table. Gosh I sure miss home, mama and daddy this time of the year especially, not because of Christmas, it's hot killing time we spent so many days cutting up meat, them telling me stories about their going, up days, courting, just everything. If I could just have one more day. 😢

Growing up, my grandparents would put wheat ger and grandma's molasses on buttered biscuits, and put it in milk, still one of my favorite things.

This was wonderful. I took the recipe. I will make them and think of you. Your home is lovely and the story was just what I needed to hear so peaceful, so wonderful thank you very much it’s going to be a good Christmas.

This is so funny. I was watching you and thought what is she using to mix the drop cakes. About a minute later, you told what it was. Thank you so much. I am going to have to get me one. I have a blending fork, I had never seen or heard of one, I bought me one, and I love it. It is better than a pastry blender because you always have to scrape it off, but the fork you do not.
