I saw this one on the Costco website and thought this would be nice but so many reviews of the noise and a high pitch sound. We have a Corgi dog who's so sensitive to noise and high pitch sounds it has me worried. I went to Lowe's and Home Depote but they weren't plugged in to listen to sound before possibly ordering from Costco. Thank you so much for your time.

I read about this on reddit, apparently, you have to call a service tech to come out to remove them. It's a big complaint. What did you end up doing?

I take mine out easily by pushing it up by reaching in the drawer. The back lifts up and shift the glass towards the back of the fridge then the front of the glass will clear the humidity switch. Hope that makes sense!

@@jtrenda333 I just picked one up at Lowes yesterday (5/28/21) for $1999. They have a "spend more, save more" promotion on appliances now. $500 of anything $2499 or more. It shows for $2499 on the website, but $500 gets taken off at checkout. If you go to store to buy, you have to ASK for the discount or you won't get it. Kind of BS it works that way, but it does. Good question, I would try it and see if any come out, it is really quiet when it drops Ice if your not right next to it you won’t hear anything, the first full bun of ice you will want to throw away, I’m not sure how long it took ours, we set it up at night and the next morning we had lots of ice.

I got the gold series 2 years ago had 4 service calls with lots of parts replaced. any new fridge with all this new tech will have problems at some point. I have a whirlpool fridge that's 13 years old and never had a problem . @@fj5492 Same here... have had our Whirlpool about 4.5 yrs, two service calls. We made the unknowing mistake of not getting the extended warranty and are now facing a $1400 service/parts bill or get a new frig. Super disappointed.

Yes, extended warranties are always necessary. I just replaced my 2.5 year old fridgidare fridge with this whirlpool today. My fridgidare only had a 1 year warranty and if i purchased extended warranty i wouldn't of had to spend 2000 on this new fridge. 300 vs 2000

Repairman told me it will run 70% of the time but uses little electricity

We bought this refrigerator in May of 2018, and the ice maker was louder than any I'd ever heard right from the start. Then had to replace ice maker in Dec. of 2019 for $360. Started having problems with ice maker again in February, replaced in June when Covid improved (under warranty with appliance repair place). Now it is not working at all. Too bad we couldn't try out the ice maker at Lowe's before we bought it.

I saw that on some reviews too before buying, but I got it anyway because of the way the door opens, after having it for 3 months I have had no issues of it being loud, like I said in the video even standing right next to it you can barely tell it’s on, hope this helps, thanks for the comment.

@@danielsdiy - Mine is very quiet. I was one complaint though. The freezer door on the left side has a play to it whereas the right side doesn't. We had a service agent come in and said that is normal. I don't think so. He just wanted to fluff it off so no work to fix it. Something is loose and since it is under warranty we are not going to try fixing it. What do you think we should do - complain again and again? The first thing they ask if we have the insurance. Why??? It is under warranty.

Yes after about a minute it will make start making noise, it is awesome, it’s great if it’s not in view of the main living area.

@Daniels DIY company I purchased it from said I had to deal directly with Whirlpool, even though the fridge was like that the day I got it from that company (total BS). Whirlpool sent a rep out and he replaced it. Took like a month for the rep to actually come and do it though.

The only part of my ice maker that makes really any noise is when the ice is coming out. Did you have it installed by the retailer? The doors on mine are level with the fridge.

Ours is also very loud when dispensing ice. Didn't realize how loud it was until a guest commented on it one day. I think we just got used to the sound since we got it.

Yeah I hated our old side by side for that same reason we shop at Costco and this holds Costco size boxes of frozen food. The crisper on this is its own drawer and it’s build very sturdy in my opinion, no complaints of anything being loud at all, we have had it 4 months nothing has broke yet, we still love it. Yes I notice a few things freezing when put next to the ice maker all the way in the back. I only had trouble with liquids. So I just stopped putting liquids over there.

Make sure that you have not blocked the vents, both exterior intake and exhaust, and freezer and icebox intake and exhaust.

No unfortunately there is not a separate temp control for it.

Hey Jeff, wondering if you could explain more your experience with this fridge? I picked this same model up off one of my customers who was updating all their appliances and they said the fridge had issues but it seems to work fine so far. I have it plugged in in the garage empty and it is pretty quiet and seems to be cooling... water not hooked up yet. I’m trying to find out all I can before I swap it for my old 10 year old fridge. @@losethegame1991 Here's the history of ours. First of all Fry's sold us a 2015 model when we purchased it in July of 2017 (2.5yrs old but brand new to us). So when we had our first issues in early 2018 (lights not turning on) we called and we were already "way past" the 1 year manufacturer warranty. Shortly thereafter the water stopped dispensing and THEN it wouldn't turn off from dispensing resulting in flooding of our main floor and a month's worth of frustration cleaning it up and out of the basement as well. Repairman out "there are 3 motherboards, can't tell which one needs to be replaced, over $1000 to do so". So, with a 1 year old refrigerator (to us), we're more than pot committed. Flash forward to 2019 and we still have lighting, dispensing, and now ice issues. The ice issues happen independently of each other and happen for both the top and the bottom ice makers. We're now 3 years into our purchase with no ice, freezer buzzing loudly, lights working most of the time, and the whole thing not cooling like it should be. Moral of the story, make sure you're getting a new model when purchasing AND... BUY THE WARRANTY.

We're currently on LG and now buy the extended warranties. As with many other parts of our life, they don't make em' like they used to. GL to you and yours.
