Merry Christmas Shane! I am thoroughly impressed with your blind tasting abilities, picking out the age of each dram as you went along! My calendar had a Speyburn 15 a few weeks ago and while I wasn't blown away, I did find it to be tasty and good value. My day 25 was a G&M Linkwood 25yr....a real treat for the grand finale 😁. Thanks for bringing us this series, it was a highlight for this dark and dreary December!

At about the 6:30 to 7 min mark when you were describing the palate I thought, "I wonder if that is Speyburn 18?", and I was right! Yay! That's 5 I guessed right. 😀🖐This has been a really good series and I'm glad the last dram was a good one, and affordable. Merry Christmas!

Happy Christmas Day, Shane. That's a nice finale indeed and I'm happy to say I have a Speyburn 18 on the shelf, it is the best deal for an 18yr 9old you can get, and certainly one of the best sherried drams under €90 together with the Glen Garioch 15. I also like the bourbon matured 16, which is amazing value (€45 for a liter). This has been a fun calendar with very astute blind tastings - decent value, though I might have been disappointed by it as I already have about 2/3 of these whiskies as bottles or samples, but of course blind tasting them is a real learning experience. Glad to have bought the Smoky Scot and the Cask Craft Tulli on account of your series, the latter has been popped as a Christmas dram for the non-whisky-nerds coming around and everyone has enjoyed it, as have I. Must try it tonight with a Terry's Chocolate Orange, a crate just arrived from the UK 😊. Thanks again for being one of the best reviewers on the Tube: competent, low key, great choices, nice subtle irony 🎉! Looking forward to the dram o' the year!

Congratulations, you saved the best till last. Good detective work again too. I've yet to try the Speyburn 18 but I have had the 15 which I thought was alright but I wasn't too excited. That's just me, I know plenty that really enjoy it. Great series. Cheers. WT

Merry Christmas to you. I do think this calendar looks like good value - although the Spirits Embassy do 30 drams including old longrow, hazelburn, the new springbank releases etc as part of their three month tasting kit. All 3cl. £125….

Not surprised you were referring to the Speyburn. It's good, but I was really really hoping it was something else that hadn't hit my radar. Now that would have been a Xmas present !. Great little series leading into Christmas !

Guessed it might be the Tamdhu 18, which I haven't tried. For some reason the bottle of Speyburn 15 yo I own doesn't interest me, and yet I bought two backup bottles of the Speyburn 18 yo, because it is currently the best value (available) 18 yo Scotch on the market imo. I will actually be drinking that tomorrow, along with some Rock Island 21 yo, and some Clairin Sajous (my favourite spirit at the moment, in part thanks to your review of the village version). A wonderful complex dram for Christmas day (I'll catch up with ya tomorrow me hearty). Thanks for giving me the vicarious advent satisfaction

I had liter bottles of both speyburn 10 and 16 and though the price was good I wouldn't buy them again. Especially the 10 wasn't enjoyable. I might take a chance on the 18 though! Thanks for the videos and happy Christmas!

Wow, last day and the young king got overthrown for the number one spot. I've had very little 18 year olds simply because of the price but this seems somewhat reasonable at 90 euros where I'm from. I do get a bit anxious when bottles reach the 80-90 mark because I really want it to be good and I sometimes think, someone like me with an average palate, will I even be able to enjoy the double the price experience? Coincidentally my wife got me (I bought it myself to make sure) a Speyburn 18 for Christmas and I stocked up on another one. They cost £75 here. Very good so far. Being a fairly newbie I think my taste buds needs to get accustomed to the nuances though!

I've really enjoyed going through the calendar with you. In total agreement except for Smoky Scot which I thought was awful.

Someone gifted me a bottle of Speyburn NAS some years ago and it was…pretty bad. Like grandma’s butterscotch candies dropped into Dewars white label (40% of course). The gifter, bless her heart, knew that I liked “single malt scotch” but opted for the cheapest sale item in the store. Interesting to see whiskytube singing the praises of Speyburn now, years later. I’m willing to give the brand another shot, but maybe I’d taste a dram at my specialty whisky bar first.
