One more comment: "We're all students in life. All of us, without exception." This may well be the most profound and inspiring comment ever made in a vlog. It brought a wee tear to my eye. Cheers Ralfy!

I just had Penderyn Madeira Cask, and it blew me away. Gorgeous whisky, or should I say wysgi. Love your reviews Ralfy.

I live in Wales but not Welsh and I love Penderyn. It's a great tasting whisky. I buy it every time it's on special offer because it is a bit pricey for my budget. I bought it for my dad one Christmas years ago and it was the best whisky I'd ever tasted. It's my go to whisky along with Buffalo Trace - a very underated bourbon in my eyes and fantastic value for money if you live in Britain. Cheers!

Just back from Wales and took part in the Pendyrn whisky master class, which was cracking. Bought a self-fill cask strength (60.5%) bottle of their peated (finished in Laphroaig casks). A belting whisky and well worth a try if you get the chance.

Considering whiskey had been brewed in Wales about 1,000 yrs before Scotland. I'd say it is more of a Welsh drink

Whiskey apart. Very true words, " we're all students in life" love Ralfy for the the thoughtful unpretentious honest reviews without claiming experience of Masterdom. Love penderyn too, I'm here drinking their legend dram and for the price on supermarket offer, it's a very respectable drink even for such a young whisky.

Glen Breton is a really nice single malt. Happy you mentioned it, being from Canada...lived in Nova Scotia for 27 years. I just picked up a bottle of Penderyn last night before I left Scotland this morning. Bought it without knowing anything of it and was planning of having it on my shelf with my "world" whiskies.

Hey, Ralfy. Was good to met up at the Edinburgh Whisky Fringe and I look forward to the fruits of your labours on the rum stand.....didn't try any myself - too much whisky on offer! That Chieftain's Jura Rum finish was quite a find and my fave of the day! Regards. mark

Forgive me, but i have to say this lol... I live near the Distillery, and Penderyn is a rural village in the Cynon Valley, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Wales. It is located near Hirwaun, not Brecon, which is about 20 miles away. For postal purposes it comes under the town of Aberdare in the Cynon Valley in the county of Rhondda Cynon Taff. It is pronounced (pen der inn) Penderyn... and Cymru is pronounced (cum ree).. I hope this helps any future video's you make. Kind Regards.. Geraint..

Reminded me a little of Highland Park 10 y/o (which I can't stand) although this has a sweetness and I really enjoyed it. As you say it will surely only get better with age. I'd love to try the sherry expression of this too!

Nice review , thanks for doing it. Even though I was born and grew up close to Penderyn, I was pleased to hear mention of my new home town , Victoria, BC. I missed the whisky festival, had I known that Penderyn was there, I may have gone with my Welsh hat & waived me flag! I have to note though that all Welsh words place the emphasis on the last but one syllable, so it's pen-DER-in. You sort of pronounce it like a Yank would! :)

I also found it to be quite close to a mix of Highland and Speyside Scotch whiskies, but my young, underdeveloped palate might not be picking it up right.:)

Have never tasted this particular gem of ambrosia from the Brecon Beacons. My Welsh friends in Yr Wyddgrug and Llanelli either hid it from me or didn't taste it either. What a surprise it might be to recommend it to their distinguished consideration from Hungary with a smiling Iechydd Dda!

Hi Ralfy, love your reviews. I was just wondering, what are the small bottles on your table for? Are those some artificial flawours? The bottle on the left looks like a diluter (for paint) a bought recently :)

Thanks Ralfy! I have enjoyed your videos for a few years from the US. Now I have moved to England and look forward to visiting distilleries, then watching your reviews. Just picked up a bottle of Penderyn while visiting Wales this weekend. Very good. The bottle says Peated, but I didn't taste any peat. You didnt mention it in your video. Any thoughts?

Awesome! As much I love Scottish whisky, I agree there is a lot of whisky to be found outside of Scotland that's well worth trying. I can't recall you reviewing any Japanese whiskies. Do you have any Japanese gems you'd like to share with us in future reviews Ralf?

For me this is my "Sandalwood" whisky. :-) Very peculiar nose and taste. I looove it.

It's pronounced "pen-dair-in". Penderyn literally translates to " the head of a bird".

It seems like all distilled spirits are becoming international. Recently I picked up a bottle of gin that's made in San Francisco to give a gin-loving cousin who's getting married. Hopefully I'll get a taste in when he opens it at the reception though I'm not a big gin fan. Getting back to the topic at hand, I've also read that whiskey production has also restarted in England but I'm not sure if they are bottling new make or actual whiskey right now.

Ralfy, any plans to review any of the Penderyn range anytime soon? I bought a bottle a couple of years back and though I liked it at first, I grew a little indifferent to it and haven't bought any since. Now I'm wondering if it's worth buying a new bottle/batch and giving it another go. x

Currently selling in Tesco for £9.24 per 35cl bottle when the 70cl is going for £33 - surely a mistake? Much to my dismay, only one bottle left on the shelf.

I tried Penderyn in Laughne in 2010... I absolutely hated it. A harsh, sharp, metallic taste as I recall. I'm very surprised that you've rated it so highly, Ralfy. Is it possible I had one of these early bad ones you were talking about....?

The mispronouncing of the product, and obviously the place, is annoying beyond belief. Wish it was possible to correct the audio. However I understand that this would be impossible to change. Also please review the rest of the whisky range. Hey maybe you can get the name correct in a new video.

Load of pretentious bollocks, just like wine & tobacco reviews. Unless of course all you guys have more taste buds than other humans. This type of stuff has been outed many times before as nonsense, especially wine reviewers. Under more scientific conditions people like these are usually proved to be fake.
@blackforestwhiskeydoinichd7199 жыл бұрын
I dried it and I have to say it is not a whisky...and the so called special still is nothing else than some type of column still. The spirit it self has nearly no taste: so the only difference to vodka is the cask ageing. I'm not even shore if it is confirm to European Law to call it whisky.

What are you on about? I've never heard so much rubbish in my life. Honestly, I bet you are the kind of guy who rates Jack Daniels as a whiskey. 😂😂
