** Can I donate a whisk(e)y for you to review in The Whisk(e)y Vault?
Of course! If you’re interested in making a tax-deductible donation towards our whiskey selection, head on over to:

** What's with the necklaces?
Rex is a whiskey mooch. His necklace is a manifestation of pure glory - forged from the irradiated bones of eagles and wolves. Also a tube sock.
See the origin story here: goo.gl/JMc2Hr
Daniel is a whiskey sommelier. His necklace is a token of his sommelier level, and he trains whiskey sommeliers at The Whisk(e)y Marketing School in Austin Texas.
**A Whisk(e)y school?
Yup. Here are a few things we believe.
** You don’t have to be a snob to appreciate and love great whiskey.
Whisky and Whiskey (it depends on where it’s from) have been an important part of cultures around the world from time immemorial. Whiskey is a part of the very fabric of Western society, and in most places, is as common and accessible as beer.
Like Jazz and wine, snobs have predictably hijacked whiskey appreciation, spoiling our natural, common connection with it and creating a false dichotomy of “good whiskey” and “bad whiskey.”
It’s time to break through the emotional bias with facts and science. That’s what this school is about.
** The only valid definition of “good” whiskey is “whiskey you like to drink.”
Learning how to share your love of whiskey in a way that connects people to the history and the story has more to do with public speaking and storytelling than it does with facts and tests.
The best way to learn about whiskey and share that love is to drink whiskey and talk about it with friends. Study the history, find the stories, and discover the culture and the methods that have been developed over hundreds of years. That’s what you’ll do when you attend The Whisk(e)y Marketing School.
** You don’t need a marketing degree to learn how to share your love of whiskey with the world.
There's an old saying, "In business, it's not what you know... It's who you know."
Regardless the industry you're in, most people are clumsy and ineffective when it comes to "networking" because they ignore a very important rule - Relationship First, Business Second.
There's a tremendous amount of curiosity about Whisk(e)y today. It's a great excuse for you to gather a group of people who want to have fun and learn something new. The Whisk(e)y School teaches you how to tap into that curiosity, and share your love of whisk(e)y in an unpretentious way. You're demonstrating knowledge, expertise, and an engaging personality - things valued by every gatekeeper, in every industry.
Or would you rather hand out business cards and cross your fingers?

Super late, but as someone that works for a famous cheese shop we teach that 3 kinda go to pairings are similar taste, contrasting taste, and regionality like from the same place. I've found those work well for whiskey too.

Had a thought as I was sipping BRUICHLADDICH The Classic Laddie last night, poured it and then got interrupted and it sat there for 20-30 minutes before i started drinking it. I have tried to take my time enjoying the whiskey as of late to let it open up, but this brings me to the thought-- Is the nose and flavor that you get when you first pour is what the distillers target was or when it opens up after sitting. Thanks to you guys drinking Whiskey is not only the Nose, Taste but also very Cerebral experience which digs deep in the History and the understanding of who all these different items work together. Again thanks to all you Magnificent Bastards

Cool review for the 23, but that's wildly inaccessible for most of us. That's like a $600 bottle guys. Not trying to be a jerk about it, I just don't want you guys turning into a review channel like whisky.com where they review $2000 bottles and you're just sitting there like.... okay.... That's why we loved the rexweek episodes. So awesome.

Slightly weird sounding pairing, but I had Deanston with some burnt ends recently and it was great! The Deanston is pretty and floral, but the burnt ends push that even further into almost a lemonade note, and it stood up to the smoky, fatty, rich meat.
@BradsWhiskeyJourney
@BradsWhiskeyJourney 6 жыл бұрын
the "weird note" for me that I find in the 23 is just a bit of bubble gum. like the powdery, crappy stuff, like "bubble tape" style, just hiding under the chocolate. Now that I've heard you say "ginger snaps" though, I definitely get that too, and just couldn't place it until hearing the words. It's soooooo damn good.

But at this exact moment I'm wondering what your thoughts are on Jack Daniels Sinatra Select. I am a huge Sinatra fan of 24, and have a bottle starring me in the face but am waiting for the right moment to open it. Insight on what to expect from this bottle please?

@ericschwab409
@ericschwab409 6 жыл бұрын
Jason, Sir, I was there with you a year ago. Finlaggan isn’t a bad whisky, but its a one trick pony in my opinion. You know what I’m talking about. I have a bottle of Finlaggan and will buy another bottle some day when my current one is empty. If you like it a lot that’s fine, but if you want something more interesting there are a few options. Bowmore is lowest priced Islay ($35) but many don’t respect Bowmore. You’ve probably been drinking Caol Ila or Bowmore if you’ve been drinking the Trader Joe’s Finlaggan. Laphoraig is the best compromise between price and quality ($5?). It’s the best bet actually. I love Bunnahabhain ($60) and if I can get it on sale ($45?) its close to the Laphroaig regular price. Kilchoman Machir Bay is nice ($50?). Lagavulin 8 is the next level up in my opinion from the Laphroaig ($60?). Laphroaig quarter cask or their 10 YO might be the ticket for you. Sip your whiskey and shepherd it like the rare treat it is. If you want to guzzle whiskey, go deluxe cheap blends like Buchanan’s or Cutty or whatever and forget about complexity. I am a sipper and my whiskies last a long time. I drink Cutty Sark a lot during the week because its good, old fashioned whisky that satisfies my when I want s shot before bed. I think a lot of people have everyday whiskies and then weekend whiskies and then extra special whiskies they only touch on special occasions. By the way, Caol Ila is a great whisky but its about twice the price of Laphroaig. I forgot to mention Ardbeg 10...its about $55 and it is another great cost/taste whisky...I can’t recommend it enough. There

Eric Schwab great googly moogly you just made my freekin day! Thank you for all that! Im gonna write all that down and keep an eye out for sales. I impulse bought the finlaggan because its the first ive seen a islay under $50 ... i suppose one benefit to being new is that i havnt gotten bored with less complex whiskeys ... yet. I had lagavulin 16 at a bar and fell in looove .. which is what started me down this road ... to my surprise i cant get enough smoke... i honeslty expected to hate it. But sincerely, i thank you for the advice ... this is going to be fun :)

Dude I shouldn’t have watched this episode. So I’m an autoworker (22 years now). I’m working across from this guy named Arky and he was giving sass to an old gal they called Babydoll. Babydoll always wore a moomoo. Babydoll was a bigger gal. And Arky was a little man. Well Babydoll could take it anymore and I saw her pull up her dress and put it over Arky’s head and most of his body vanished and she shook him around inside that dress. I could stop laughing. His legs were kicking and he could get out of there fast enough!😂

This has probably already been asked... Disclaimer - I don't read comments often (and you guys have a s%$t ton of videos with a f&*k load of comments) What is you all time favorite whiskey? (Daniel and Rex) The one you always keep on stock at home and drink when your bored with nothing better to do. Not the whiskey you bring ot when people are over. But the one you keep for yourself either because it's a cheap bottom shelf or because it cost your first born to buy.
