The SONY BRAVIA 9 has finally arrived! We are taking a look at the 65" XR 90 today at Value Electronics. We will do a quick unboxing , set up , and settings, and we will demo all presets on a variety of content. We will finish up with some gaming on the PS5. We will review the 85" Bravia 9 next week. Brian will be visiting us again today to film the 85" BRAVIA 9. We have two on display in our showroom. One in a very high ambient light location and one in our theater demo room that is absent of all light. Sony's new flagship BRAVIA performs beautifully in all ambient light conditions and with all content.

This will be good. And important because it could be that the 75" has slightly fewer dimming zones for it's screen size than the 65 and 85. Would be interesting to see if it has any impact at all because of it. Or if it looks the same as for example the 65" which looks amazing.

The slinging fire demo blows me away. I don’t see the backlight struggling to keep up and the blooming is very minimal. I could live with this. Can’t believe how bright those flames get. We have a winner!

I didn't even see blooming in this entire video. I mean if it happened, I didn't even notice. Because any blooming would show a slight blueish hue. I suspect some think that blooming was seen in some fire scenes because it lit up the area around the flames. But that isn't blooming it's apart of the picture effect. A bloom would be tiny hue of blue on these panels, which I didn't see at all. That said of course the TV will have some minute blooming on occasion it's not an OLED and it's not "Magical". But it's damned good.

This is extremely impressive for a mini led. Sony is really into something here and basically exposed the market and its competitors that more zones does not mean better picture. Also that Sony processing is in fact superior lol

This is my first premium tv & I’m in awe of its capabilities I am blown away by the audio too & Sony Pictures Core which is fantastic Hope you love it as much as I do! 👍

I gotta say its quiet tempting (for an mini-led) ... almost no trace of blooming, Sony processing, acoustic surface+ audio, great looking game mode, back-lit remote and most important, no worries of burn-in. Yet, still too pricey. Lets see how it holds up come tv shoot-out in late summer.

Honestly just put it on a 12 month payment plan, I don't do it often but when I buy a new TV I always go for the best and pay it off over the next 12 months lol.

WOW! The brightness and color of this display looks to be incredible. I can wait to see this TV at my local Best Buy, they should be putting out an 85" version to replace the 85" X93L currently up. That will allow me to compare it to the 77" A95L right next to it. As always Brian, keep up the great work! We appreciate all that you do for the community!

Beast Mode. Sony goes Warp speed baby. Great intro for the Bravia 9. I love my A80J but it is only 3 years old so I'll just have to covet this magnificent TV Mini-LED for now. It is so amazing that it is as close to an OLED and obviously much brighter with all the processing, upscaling blah blah blah to be had. Shadow detail is amazing and it just looks awesome.......Can't wait to see MORE !!!! Great job as usual Brian. We expect nothing less and you always deliver.....😎

I like your content, that said these demos don't really touch on the major concerns most of us have with motion judder, noise, upscaling capabilities, etc. basically the issues most TV's are working to fix with streaming and all types of content getting much more consistently better!

I’m watching this on an a95l & have to say it the 9 looks so near I’m very impressed Not here to start an argument but I’m glad I went for QD oled as I’m love with it but I understand why Sony is making this… The amount of top features they have continued in this model are a testament to how good they are & I have them so I know it’s not all marketing speak Oh boy do I love my a95l but this new one looks amazing too, guess there will be some lucky enough to have both!!

Great video. I've had a OLED for about 8 years and it is suffering from burn in. Looking to upgrade to a Bravia 9 75" or A95L 65". At the moment I'm leaning towards the Bravia 9. I have an Oppo 4k player that shows a HDR max nits at 1600 so I'm not sure if there is any benifit that having a tv that can display anything higher than that? I'll be watching tv in a room that doesn't get a lot of light, probably medium to dark depending on the day /night. I don't game on the tv. And watch physical media, stream and watch regular tv. Any advice would be great. Thanks

@Brian: If you had to choose, would you go with the G4 or Bravia 9. I have the 77G4 and can still return for the B9. I know you are big Sony fan, but also considering the new much brighter oled panels like the G4.

The Bravia 9 appears in my eye's to be more life realistic in colours/sharpness/Clean •(4 Hrs later shared with wife, see's what I saw)•. I'm coming from a 🤭 Series 7 (2009), 46" hoping to purchase either one to view Olympic Games as we missed out in 🇦🇺 purchasing 77" A95L an was set on G4😆 (my user case, streaming- Netflix, BJJFanatics | One Championship | UFC | Wrestling-Folkstyle | Movies | very little gaming). Look fwd to you answering @hattorihanzo1329.

G4 will be more 3 dimensional than Bravia 9. Also reflection handling on G4 is superior as VA panels are spreading reflections horizontally making it more distracting. Bravia handles it probably best I’ve seen on LCD so far but still I prefer G4s no doubt. So unless you need 85” - G4 will still have upper hand. Remember that movies are meant to be watched in light controlled environment. For that 1500-2000 nits on G4 is bright enough. Even in SDR content G4 is bright enough. Only full white content like ice hockey would look dimmer.

I really wanted to upgrade...still on the Badass Sony 55 X930E...supercharged it with some new cables and a great power filter on XSX/PS5 but I really want the Series 9...Why don't they make a 55 Inch size?? In my space I can only accomodate a 55 inch size and better for Pixel Density...Hopefully Sony will make 55 Inch flagships in the future like on the upcoming hopefully Sony Bravia 10 and Last Years 55 inch Sony A95L

Good stuff Brian. I can’t wait to see some side by side comparisons with other flagship MiniLEDs. But I’m very curious to see how it does next to the flagship OLEDs from LG, Samsung and Sony’s own A95L. I’m also interested in seeing if these new sets from Sony have the same Dolby Vision and low luminance issues as the A95L since they’re using the same Mediatek processor.

Brian @the 30min 11sec mark you have Demon Souls playing? In that demo on the walls of the tunnel, is that motion blur or is that black smearing produced by the darks/greys with the mini-led? I have an OLED and I'm considering the Bravia 9 but I've always been concerned with motion clarity with dark scenes and LED tvs. Thanks in advance and keep up the amazing work! G4 will have 4X HDMI 2.1 ports. Sony has 2X HDMI 2.1 ports (including eArc so 1 if with a sound system.) & 2X HDMI 2.0 G4 will have better contrast but Sony ain’t far behind and the Sony will have the more accurate colours and better HDR tone mapping if set up right.

Brain can you do a video on the Bravia 7 85”? I would be interested to see how well the backlight controls the blooming on a large one the feet on the B7 standard width is only 61 inch versus the B9 with the 71 inch standard. The 61 inch would fit my stand wide, not the 71 inch that comes with the B9 I don’t know why they are different but they are. I do not want to put the stand in the narrow on either of them that would interfere with my sound bar.

Nice demo Brian! This 65" XR90 would be the size I would be interested in if it had been available globally instead of a small selection of countries. My assumptions are that Sony is basing this decision off sales from the X95L which was a great MiniLED TV though wasn't selling well in other regions (price/performance) and wasn't a significant leap in tech advancement at least compared to the Bravia 9. Unfortunate that most people outside the U.S are left with no other options but the Bravia 7 as that model comes in 65".

For those people who prefer LEDs, the Bravia 9 is definitely a leap forward in terms of contrast, but for fans of OLED, it doesn’t mean much as OLEDs continue to get brighter and more efficient. Now, if Sony brings the price of the Bravia 9 down to the midrange of premium OLED TVs (Bravia 8, C4, S90D), it can be more competitive because of the extra brightness.

Brian is it true that bravia 7 is a rebranded x95l? I thought sony said the 7 gets all the new backlight drivers, etc like the 9. I was looking forward to buying the 7 with all new tech. I will be bummed if this 7 is a hold over.

I mean... YT compression (and highlight blowout from the camera exposure) being what it is and I wouldn't make a decision without seeing it in person next to an OLED but.... Contrast looks the same as my OLED at home. Is the LG G4 83" worth spending the extra $1k over the Bravia 9 85"? If dark-scene contrast is just as good at my seating position between the two tvs and if I had to decide on this video alone, I don't see the OLED being worth the extra $1k.

I'm watching this on an OLED laptop that matches the iPhone 15 in brightness full window and I've never seen anything like the Bravia 9 in all the videos I've watched. It reminds me of my Sony TV with 3d glasses on. The brightness of the sun next to the bridge was blinding and I know I'm only seeing 1,000 nits - it's much brighter on the 9. The contrast is amazing. But the depth is all I see. I really have to see this TV in person.

I ordered a Bravia 9 65" it comes on the 29th. I have the A95L the screen is nice how much better is Bravia 9. I'm also a PS5 Series X gamer

Hi Brian. I am watching your videos with keen intetest, as I will shortly be buying a TV, up to 85 inches in size. I had chosen Sony's A95L, but it is no longer available. My second choice is either another Sony, or an LG G4. I will mainly be enjoying physical Media. Any comments ? Cheers, Derek.
