I love the friendship between Keith (I don't know how to write his name) and Brady. In the first few episodes Keith was a bit reserved and still getting used to being filmed. Now it seems they drink tea with kangaroo milk together.

It's what I really like about Keith. He obviously loves his job very much and he is very knowledgeable of it and good at it. It does appear he has gone through the entire archives.

If he's a typical hyper-curious bookworm, he takes the time to have a look whenever he comes across anything that seems interesting, and there are many ways for a curious librarian to come across something potentially interesting, the most obvious of which is just to look at what people are asking for.

As someone who can randomly recall pretty much anything I've run into when someone prompts me to talk about it, I am still in awe of Keith's abilities to just know things and then talk intelligently about them. Must be from working all the time in an archive setting. :-P

The Wikipedia entry looks pretty sparse compared to the paper.

The paper could be quite waffley. Wikipedia would take the main points of a paper and put it into something which people would feasibly read. If you've ever read an academic paper, then you'd know that they're not the most user friendly way to get information. I can imagine it's a similar case here

One could, but Wikipedia as a policy prefers secondary sources to primary ones. Typically, primary sources are of narrow scope and are not considered reliable on their own unless interpreted by experts in secondary sources. Reading and analyzing the source itself is sometimes considered original research by the editor, which is discouraged.

I wonder if Keith could tell us how many objects are indexed here. Just a mathematical curiosity. A very very rough back of the napkin calculation suggests maybe 35,000 or so? I could of course be out by a LOT.

+Ray Kent I've just checked wiki, and the connection is closer than I imagined. Carding comes from latin carduus, a thistle.
