The President’s Band, aka the Marine Band, was created by Thomas Jefferson during his presidency. Here they are, playing What’d I Miss in the lobby of the White House, as Jefferson, Burr and Madison dance around. Alex Lacamoire conducts. Enormous thanks to The White House and the Marine band for making this possible. Good luck with the lotto!

The thing that might be easily missed with this performance is that every single one of the President's Own has a masters or PhD in Music Performance. Daveed Diggs was an underground rapper from Oakland before stepping onto Broadway. and he said "whoo, that's my band!" i am beyond bewildered and so happy for his success.

Jefferson: Trumpet, obviously. Washington: Upright bass or a bassoon. Something commanding. Angelica: Cello? Eliza: Violin. Beautiful, often overlooked but can make or break a piece. Peggy: Piccolo XD Alexander: Piano, because it goes great with violin, and can be played for hours straight without stopping for breath. Hercules Mulligan: Sousaphone. Big, loud as hell, and absolutely impossible to ignore. Laurens: Guitar perhaps? Maria: Cello. Hella seductive and really gorgeous. Burr: I actually have no idea. Oboe maybe?

I believe it's not one part but races through the song. It starts with the chorus 'Thomas Jefferson's coming home' but instead of 'lord we've been waiting for so long' heads straight into jefferson's second refrein (so what did I miss) before skipping to the pre chorus (I can't believe that we are free) before ending with the final chorus. I believe it looks a litte like this: Thomas Jefferson’s coming home! [Thomas Jefferson's coming home.] Thomas Jefferson’s coming home! [Thomas Jefferson's coming home.] [Thomas Jefferson’s coming home.] So what’d I miss? What’d I miss? Virginia, my home sweet home, I wanna give you a kiss I’ve been in Paris meeting lots of different ladies... I guess I basic’lly missed the late eighties... I traveled the wide, wide world and came back to this… [Heading to New York!] Looking at the rolling fields I can't believe that we are free Ready to face whatever’s awaiting me in N.Y.C.
