In today's video, we're going to talk about an exciting topic: White Label QR Codes. It allows you to create Dynamic QR Codes having your domain name in the redirecting link rather than Scanova's.

Here’s what a custom domain feature is.
Say you create a dynamic QR Code.
On scanning, it’ll show you a redirecting URL having format scnv.io/ABCD.
This is the link that takes the end-users to the target content. It could be text, your weblink, social media handles, etc. In this URL, ‘scnv’ is Scanova’s domain.
Now, if you’d rather want your audience to see your domain name in the redirecting URL, it’s done via custom domain feature.
You can then change it to any format such as 'qr.yourdomain.com/ABCD'.
Your audience will then se your brand name in the redirecting URL.
And the best part is, you'll still have full access to Scanova's features like scan tracking and editing QR Code content.
Now the question is how do we implement this feature? First, you’ll have to set up a sub-domain in your DNS via a CNAME record that points to scnv.io
Why a sub-domain?
It's because we want to keep your root domain and all its URLs unaffected. The sub-domain acts as an 'alias' for scnv.io and all traffic via QR Codes is served via Scanova servers.
Now let's see how to make it happen:
Step 1: Create a sub-domain that points to scnv.io. Go to your domain hosting service provider and choose your preferred domain. Then, navigate to DNS Settings and create a new CNAME record with the specified values
The first is to add a Sub-domain/ Hostname, it can be qr or scan or any short name of your choice (remember that some DNS settings may need you to enter a complete sub-domain e.g.,qr.mywebsite.com)
Next is, Alias/Canonical. This will always have to be scnv.io as this temporarily gives Scanova control over the sub-domain to allow you to use Scanova’s advanced features
Lastly, the TTL value can be specified to 43200
After successfully following these steps, a new sub-domain owned by you will be created, pointing towards Scanova’s domain scnv.io
Step 2: Now, add the new sub-domain to your Scanova Account. To do so,
Log in to your Scanova account, go to Dashboard, then Settings, and then Custom Domain, and enter the new sub-domain you created earlier
Now, add the TXT Record in the DNS (mentioned in the instructions box) to verify domain ownership. Add @ in the host/name/hostname field
Once you add the sub-domain, the tool will verify if it points to scnv.io. Sometimes it may take up to 24 hours for our system to recognize the changes on your subdomain. Hence, don’t worry, your subdomain will get verified by the next day.
Lastly, Click on Done. If you receive a message ‘Verified Successfully’, then the setup is complete.
For the final step, we have to generate the Dynamic QR Code using the Custom Domain feature.
For that:
First, head over to your Scanova QR Code Generator account’s dashboard
Once you're on the Create QR Code page, look for the suitable QR Code category and click on it. This will open the 'Create QR Code' window for the particular QR Code
Now, we're going to do something a little different. Instead of clicking on the Create QR Code button first, we'’’ hover over the Advanced Settings and select the 'Customize Short URL' option
Here, in the domain part of the URL, you'll see a dropdown menu. This is where you get to select your custom sub-domain and then click on the Create QR Code button
Now, any QR Code you generate using this sub-domain will have no Scanova branding - meaning, no 'scnv.io' URL.
That’s it. Your QR Code will be downloaded and ready for use. It is always advisable to test scan the QR Code before putting it out for your customers.
