im so glad i came back to find these videos. the guy singing was my great uncle glenn, i called him pawpaw. he inspired my love for singing. i miss him greatly, not a day goes by that i dont miss him. i still have his pocket watch he give me years ago.

Can't thank you enuff for introducing me to this song. I had the HONOR of being in an Alabama church last week and they asked me to sing. I did and sang this song. Can't tell you what a blessing that was. YOU boys were truly an instrument of God in passing that song on to me. Now if I can find the words and chords to Beyond the Rain, I'll be even more happy!!!!

This is a great song, however the lyrics need a little doctoring. Who knows what a "spur" is? also, a tree's roots might possibly bend but NOT moan ! So I suggest the following as a substitute for the common lyrics. There's a white oak on the hill, growing near my childhood home, It stands there brave and tall and so proudly all alone; And when the cold north winds blow its limbs -they bend and moan; But when the storm has passed it straightens up and lives on . Sometimes the troubles of this life -they try to get me down, When I look for my friends they're not always around; The Lord above He seems to say "stand up and do my will" And always remember that old white oak on the hill !
