Sweet build, even the plastic plants look fantastic. Just be careful sometimes wax is used to polish stones like that and can poison sensitive skinned animals, I almost lost my morphed axolotl because I used wax polished rocks in its tank.

@@reptiliangarden Yeah I found out the hard way. You can test it by soaking and agitating the rocks in a bucket of boiling water, if there's wax present it will leave a wax ring in the bucket once it cools. The wax can be removed from the rocks by flushing them again with boiling water substituting the bucket for a plastic flower pot allowing the water to drain through.

You are so much braver than me! I have Crohn’s too (not as serious as you, haven’t needed surgery yet) but being on Stellara therefore immunosuppressed, I don’t dare get snakes or lizards as they are know to have higher chance of making us sick (salmonella mostly in the dropping). But I dream someday of owning a hognose and a crested gecko 🥰

I am on stelara too! Keeping reptiles is safe when it comes to salmonella so long as you don’t put the animals in your mouth, and wash your hands after handling or cleaning!

Will be setting up my first vivarium soon for White's Tree frogs (bioactive - so setting it up a good couple months before I'll be getting the frogs themselves) and this video was really helpful! Also gave me good inspiration for the background and setup

How do you keep an enclosure like this clean? How exactly would you clean it/how often? I know you can spot clean and pick up poop daily, but would you have to remove all the soil once a month or every two months?

question, does the drylock make the foam super strong? I ask because ive always wondered how it holds plants when soil can sometimes be pretty heavy.. Also I see that in this and your chameleon enclosure you have it holding up branches so I assume that means its strong enough to hold wood and a chameleon? Foam to me just sounds so weak so im nervous but im setting up a chameleon enclosure (another one) but this will be a glass enclosure as my house is fairly dry so I need to lock in moisture and I kind of want to do a foam background and have it hold up all the branches but in my head I just keep picturing them falling lol

It is strong! It expands and hardens and will hold the branches in!!

Spot cleaning and cleaning the door when any of them poop on it 😂 the mircrofauana take care of little waste in the setup

Veiled chameleon question, can I keep hornworms in my Cham enclosure or will she overeat?

Only feed them at feeding time. They should only be fed every 2-3 days and your cham will eat as much as there is available. That will lead to over eating.
