MLB needs to get a grip of this umpire situation. It has gone on long enough. Like most professional sports with professional officials there needs to be consequences for poor officiating. MLB needs to start promoting good umpires for the minor leagues and relegating poor or bad umpires out for the majors leagues. Surly we want the best umpires working the best and biggest games. Come on MLB stand up to the umpires, enforce change on them & the fans will back you all the way.

Time to immediately implement robot umpires to automatically call all balls and strikes.

Who else is sick of refs and umps making horrible, well beyond bad calls that cost teams wins? CB Buckner needs to be fired today! Along with Angel Hernandez. legitimate question from senior citizen... I used to follow MLB religiously but have lost touch in recent years. I know who Angel Hernandez is (hard not to lol)... but who is this CB fellow? His K zone on this pitch reminded me of the ump who gave the Marlins' Livan Hernandez a literal foot off the dish versus the Braves in a game in the early-mid 90's.... I don't remember that guy's name either. Don't ever get old if you can help it & thanks for the answer(s) if you're able. Peace.

Omg. I can't believe you can call that a strike but on the other hand after what happened with Oli and CB it don't surprise me. That ball was too low to be a strike and way too far off the plate to be a strike. I hear about this but didn't see it. Wow. How can you still have a job?? After a 3-hour rain delay, down by one run, bases loaded with 2 outs and you call that a strike and still have your job?? Wtf?? After what happened between Oli and him I can't believe he has the audacity. It just goes to show who really decides the game. 😮😮😮 Wow And I bet he won't even be questioned by any superiors.

They need to set up an electronic caller as in line calls in tennis. This is ridiculous, the ump was calling outside pitches strikes throughout the game. he should be banned.

Never should have stopped the game to begin with. Heavy rain, yes. But the home team was losing with two outs in the bottom of the 10th. Tough it out for a few minutes and finish the damn game. 3 hour rain delay. Come back, 4 pitches. Done. Stupid.

This kind of thing used to be a problem in cricket but once the technology became reliable enough (like 20 years ago), they switched to it. So in cricket the umpire is still present and makes the call but it can always be challenged and verified by the technology as well. Baseball needs to switch that model as well.

I honestly don't mind when an ump misses a bender that passes through the zone and dips out. It's a tough call. But this is ludicrous. The pitch was outside the entire way, never touched the plate. And, P.S. the Cards deserved to lose that one with their hitting woes and I'm a Cards fan.

Since so many of the umps (especially this guy, Country Joe, Hernandez) have (and had) been made to look bad by replay, they do this on purpose because they know nothing can be done about it YET!! In the meantime, the integrity of the game is so tainted by stuff like this that I no longer go to the ballpark or watch on TV. I'll spend my entertainment $$ elsewhere.

He was hired for only one reason and it wasn't because he was great at umpiring.
