4:17 SAME VOCALS AS GRAMMYS 2000 PERFORMANCE... EPIC WHITNEY, MISS YOU EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE!
@DanielCrotty6 жыл бұрын
This was a CLASSIC Whitney performance, especially the last quarter... AMAZING!!! It can't of been easy stepping out in front of thousands night after night city after city, knowing that she couldn't get those same notes and having to change the arrangement, rely on backing vocals etc... I saw her 3 times here in the UK and the majority were just in AWE to be in the presence and thankful for her energy, 100% live vocals, and humble gratitude to the fans that had never left.... The minority, who decided to leave, might as well of stayed at home and just played her CDs... Even at her worst she is still 10x better than some of the people we call singers today... Whitney you are missed & we will always love you!!!

Judging by her recent album sales and the overwhelmingly positive reception she's received around the world, I'd say most people aren't having any issues accepting her "new voice". The issue is so-called "fans" refusing to get their ears out of the past. The Bodyguard voice is gone, forever. It was gone in 1996, 1999, and it's certainly gone now. Embrace Whitney for what she has to offer NOW, or move on.

Brilliant Whitney lovin the new sound!! She's still got the skills, the years of work she put into her voice and the state presence which captures an audience...the new voice is sounding great and when she sorts out her breathing and keeps growing in confidence the voice should flow!!! Let's just be happy she's hear still and giving us what she can xxx

I knew Whitney had it in her! She sounds great! I'm on to the media now... they focus on every bad performance she does singing "I will always love you", her most difficult song to sing. I've looked up a few of the other performances on this tour and she sounds better singing most of the other songs. Ofcourse nobody uses this clip to give us an accurate or well rounded sum up of her tour. You always see her voice strained singing IWALY. Whitney is doing fine.

When she hit that note at 1:28 it sent chills down my spine. I have been listening at Whitney for over 25 years. I was always mesmerized by the power of her voice and the way she would move from soft and mellow then build to an unbelieveable climax. I see now that Whitney was held to a diff. standard than other performers. She wasn't allowed to be sick or have an off night. Any other performer can be half-ass and it's all good. But the legend must always be well and hit it out of the park.

Thanks for the post...this acoustic version is just the creative direction she should go for her live shows until she learns to master her new vocal sound... I am a musician and musicians should evolve, for whatever reasons, good or bad, evolution keeps entertainers fresh and interesting...Whitney's downfall gave her grit and deepened her range for these jazzier nuances...great for age and great for her new style... Maybe people can try to forgive the past entirely and accept the change :-)

This was the voice with a bluesy pics, that I wish she would transitioned. She just wasn't capable of belting out those earlier tunes. Most singers change or modify their voices with age, and this was an incredible performance. Yeah, it was edgy, but she delivered it. Whitney Houston! Ten years and still sad today, in 2022. I wasn't a 'fan' of any musician; because, it feels like a groupie mentality. Also, I don't like hearing musicians patronize their listeners, and to some entertainers , they blatantly make snide and condescending comments. But, her voice will always be perceived as the greatest, of all time. Had she focused on this blues/ jazzy sound, instead of trying to sing tunes, in which, she had evolved.

Whitney is the best although she's not ready for her old numbers just yet. She does seem to be improving between each concert quite dramatically though. She's still got the old runs n ad libs goin but she is quite raspy n breathless. I'm really startin to like the new sound though.. I hope the rumour that Whitney is back on drugs is not true although this performance wouldn't really serve useful to disprove that. Great performance! Whitney will always be the VOICE!!
@TheSanctifiedSoldier14 жыл бұрын
So I am confident that If...I say If Whitney is taking a holistic approach to her recovery, which would include fitness, and proper nutrition she, like Chaka Khan and Natalie Cole will get better vocally... Be mindful also that Whitney is 46...menopause may already have begun for her to some degree and that coupled with the road of recovery will affect hormones...so there is hope because there is hope with recovery and sobriety... Practice is correct/rest/water/fitness-cardio/vocal coaching 2

@caduteacher When I said drugs, I meant actual drugs and narcotics, not cigarettes. Of course cigarettes screw up your breathing and such...I never said they didn't. She has issues because of those as well. But I'm not sure what throat cancer has to do with Whitney or what I said. AND she was only smoking cigarettes because that is a way to get over actual drug addiction.
@MrStyle2314 жыл бұрын
She did pretty good here. I like her when she sings in her range. I don't know why Whitney is trying to sing her ballads in the original key. She really needs to bring the key lower. She doesn't have that voice anymore. She sounds so much better here!

@caduteacher Now did I say cigarettes aren't drugs? Don't put words in my mouth. I simply told you what I was referring to in my first post (narcotics) and then acknowledged that cigarettes can mess up breathing and air passage through the vocal chords, but not the chords themselves. Vocal chords are tiny muscles. Bad VOCAL habits such as overuse and over-singing are the only things that will screw them up. So once again....drugs do not destroy vocal chords.

haha what are you talking about politley hate, im just stating a fact whitney did not hit above and Eb5 in chest or falsetto, stating that isnt hate so stop acting all high and mighty as if your opinion means more than fact. Im not even guna respond to beyonce/mariah statement, this performance is brilliant cause a year ago she wouldnt of pulled those 'non-high notes off. and im just happy she isnt afraid to sit and sing and just improove so think what ya like with the ''polite hating''

@Ceedsmith My goodness, u're saying that cigarrets are not drugs? come on! do me a favour! And please, I wanna believe that u're capable enough to to understand that when I said that even cigarrets can cause throat cancer, imagine what they could to to your chords, it's so obvious, any children could understand that. And plzzz...do not spread your idea that cigarret is not real drug, it is!!! the only difference is that the goverment gets taxes on it!
@TheSanctifiedSoldier14 жыл бұрын
I do not know what your background is in recovery but allow me to explain professionally that recovery takes, sometimes, as long as the actual years of abuse to have one's life fully restored..some people loose mental health and physical health, muscles weaken and in some cases atrophy but with an effective recovery plan, people have been known to get most of ALL that they've lost, In Whitney's case her voice was already jeopardized before drugs, drugs exacerbated a problem her family has...
@MrStyle2314 жыл бұрын
You're obviously in denial. Whitney isn't near the voice she has. Some singers are usually a hit and miss type performance but in these 2 concerts she was hit and miss in each note. I love Whitney and I'm not trying to tear her down. I bought the album and it's great but she clearly doesn't sing like 1999 and is nowhere near 1985 voice. You need to wake up! Maybe Whitney needs more practice or voice lessons but "The Voice" should have went with smaller venues.
