Her voice may not have been at its peak here, but there's no denying that she still sounded great. She adjusted accordingly and sold the song as only she could. What a loss to the world. Her talent was otherworldly.

A hard life that is singing. A shame that anybody puts themselves through it if they have medical problems especially heart issues. A far different Whitney that the the woman I saw on Top of the Pops in April 1987 singing I wanna dance with somebody. She was only 23 then and single before all that happened her afterwards. This life can bring you down and Whitney went there sadly. Easy to go down under the eye of the media and the public. God bless you you. I listened to your cassette tapes when I was lonely as a teenager many a night. You had a great voice.

I look back at some of these later performances and though her voice had changed, you can still tell that she could sing. With age, length of time in the business and the unfortunate drug use she still maintained her basic vocal structure, runs and all. Some singers these days sound so bad you can't tell they ever knew how to sing. Their fans make excuses blaming age and length of years they sang, but listening to Whitney with added obstacles makes me know they have no excuse. I feel privileged to exist in the time period that Whitney occupied. The best!

"And when all my strength is gone, in you I can be strong." - Whitney Houston
@davidwatson68317 жыл бұрын
To me this was the best live performance of I look to you. She could still sing this wasn't the 80s, 90s, or even 00s Whitney this was the new Whitney. This Whitney didn't have to prove anything to any of us. She has already set records and has already captivated us with her magnificent vocal ability. She will always be number 1 because she was a true virtuoso. She always gave it her all no matter what shape her voice was in. Name another artist who can do this without any problems. Her voice was the 2010s version who could still sing songs from the 80s such as Dancing with the Stars I Wanna Dance with Somebody, Clive Davis Pre Grammy Party It's not Right But It's Okay, Good Mourning America Just One of Those Days, and from her new Album the American Music Awards performance of I Didn't Know My Own Strength just to name a few and Don't forget they all were live performances. My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ gave her this raw talent and her gift was ministering the talent to us. What a mighty good God we serve, despite our imperfections God still loves us. Don't let this world fool you because he is the Creator of all things. He is the alpha and omega, beginning and ending don't get caught up with the things of this World it's all temporary. God wants to use us for his glory not to uplift Satan's and his satanic kingdom that will lead us to damnation. God is the way no one comes to the father but by Jesus Christ he is the only way. She is now at peace from the harsh cruelty of this World. Thank God Almighty we are not perfect, but we should strive to be but love your neighbor as yourself. Amen!!!!!!!!!!!

As I lay me down Heaven hear me now I'm lost without a cause After giving it my all Winter storms have come And darkened my sun After all that I've been through Who on earth can I turn to? I look to you I look to you After all my strength is gone In you I can be strong I look to you I look to you And when melodies are gone In you I hear a song, I look to you About to lose my breath There's no more fighting left Sinking to rise no more Searching for that open door And every road that I've taken Led to my regret And I don't know if I'm gonna make it Nothing to do but lift my head I look to you I look to you And when all my strength is gone In you I can be strong I look to you I look to you And when melodies are gone In you I hear a song, I look to you My levee's have broken, my walls have come Crumbling down on me The rain is falling, defeat is calling I need you to set me free Take me far away from the battle I need you, shine on me I look to you I look to you After all my strength has gone In you I can be strong I look to you I look to you And when melodies are gone In you I hear a song, I look to you I look to you I look to you

It is amazing that R Kelley - a person who cannot read can write such wonderful songs. uhhmmpp!!! Rest in Peace Whitney. I miss your voice. God deliver R Kelly from the demons trying to ruin his life. May he come to realize he can only find peace when he surrenders to your will Lord.

What's special and ironic and the reason why I love this particular PERFORMENCE of I look to you... is it was sung with so much emotion and her old self kind of came through a bit in her long holding soprano notes in which she used to do ALOT.. And in some WIERD way there are ANGEL WINGS AROUND HER ..like almost as if the man upstairs was actually there looking down on her and giving her her voice back

Her best performance of the period 2009-2012. It should have been released on Whitney Houston Live: Her Greatest Performances CD/DVD.....
@GregNoahKogkalidis9 жыл бұрын
This is a great performance, indeed, but her absolute top performance (for many reasons) of her last years was by far at the 2009 AMAs, when she sang "I didn't know my own strength". This one is criminally left out of the new CD/DVD.

G. Noah K. Marvin Jadi You guys should check her performance at X Factor Italy it was for me her best performance during the 2009-2012. I will say this I look to you performance come 2nd and then AMA's :)
@Jordi71749 жыл бұрын
G. Noah K. I absolutely agree, she looked and sounded her best of her last era at the 2009 AMA's.
@whitneyfan90198 жыл бұрын
The AMA performance reminded me of the 90's Whitney the way she was singing. No she didn't sound like the early 90's Whitney but she gave the My love is your love vocals a run for its money. Voice was crystal clear that night.

The greatest singer of all times! I would have definitely been the young man in the audience holding the sign up and yelling. Whitney was definitely a wonder of the world! May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

Whitney Houston sounded absolutely beautiful here I would not have changed a thing❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉Looked beautiful as well. It's the tour she was not physically, emotionally, vocally ready for. That tour happened to soon and it wore her down and out. We miss you. You are still THE VOICE.

1988 Live in Frankfurt am Main. One of the best concerts ever, what I've seen. Very close Celine Dion in Las Vegas and Nightwish with Floor Jansen. All this Ladys outstanding singer. Missing on my list of live voices... Barbra Streisand, Jennifer Hudson plus Lady Gaga. For me thats the Top 6 of All Time.

But I watch all your performances. I was and always be your fan, Whitney. You were one and the only. So special, amazing, beatiful and emotional.
