Her tone is unmatched to anyone. So smooth and even. Her voice is soothing yet powerful. When she sings, you don’t want to sing with her. You just want to keep quiet, close your eyes and just listen! No one makes me do that. Stunning.

That transition from fortissimo to piano at 4:41 , and that transition from mezzoforte to pianissimo at 4:48 followed by a crescendo has me breathless. She was so close to the mic, and was still able to sing at a volume that seems like a whisper. No one could do that! Whitney was unrivaled.

This is my favourite performance of this song by her because at the beginning of the song her voice slightly faltered and she did what all great vocalists do when this happens...they open their pipes and belt it out! and boy did she belt it out at the end of the song , I loved the power in her voice very very powerful.

When I see videos of Whitney singing like this, can’t help but feel so sad, sad for her life and what she became by the end of it. She was extremely talented and had a gift from God, she was the whole package. I think life tried her maybe a bit too much for her to handle at some stage. This performance is out of this world!

Lol she always made it look so easy like "hey you just open your mouth and sing" ..if only hahaa. I don't know why but in the instrumental portion they cut to prince whom was clearing getting lifted and lost in her voice and the arrangement, then the camera cuts to kenny G as the saxophone plays he had a big smile and was enjoying this real artistry, and she is adlibbing at 3:19 she says "mmm hahhh" or something like that, it gives me chills everytime there was that tear drop in her voice.

@GarageStudio76 жыл бұрын
*Whitney's voice was truly glorious!* It was unbelievably powerful but it didn't have a shrill or "yelling" quality (Singers like Beyonce, Sohyang and Jennifer Hudson are great singers but sometimes their belts have that quality) Mariah Carey was essentially her equal due to her immense vocal ability, she could do more than Whitney could but Whitney's voice was sublime! They say preference of timbre is subjective; then God gave her a timbre that touched the hearts of multitudes in comparison to other vocal tones... Rest In Peace Whitney, We love and miss you!
@odumosuolusegun27816 жыл бұрын
I do not understand you. this is a Whitney Video. Mariah is great and one of the best but can you stop being disrespectfully by saying " she do more than Whitney" in all your comments you actually her praising mARIAH and telling us what she could do more than Whitney and not a pin about what Whitney was clearly better in? like presenying a song in a LIVE SPACE. Something Mariah never mastered..
@GarageStudio76 жыл бұрын
Odumosu Olusegun Did I not literally talk about her magnificent timbre and immense vocal power... Btw it's a fact that Mariah had more vocal ability yet with all that she only managed to match Whitney...
@daypenyuer33236 жыл бұрын
Why do you always compare whitney and mariah? Music is about taste, and everyone is free to choose it. Whitney and mariah have the same level there is no better, all have advantages and disadvantages of each. So stop comparing anyone else and enjoy the music you choose.
@fzpe8565 жыл бұрын
GarageStudio Honey,weak falsetto,tiny whistles,forced lows don’t mean “immense vocal ability”. Mariah has never been the technician Whitney was ... and she will never be! Whitney knew how to keep full support of sound while executing staccatissimo,staccato,downward scales,upward scales,mancando,súbito piano,messa di voce (these three feats have never been performed by Mariah) .
@fzpe8565 жыл бұрын
GarageStudio Mariah has never executed feats like súbito piano,forzando,mancando,esclamazione piu viva and esclamazione lánguida,messa di voce ... On the other hand,Whitney executed the trickiest articulations in full voice. No weak falsetto,no tiny whistles,no nothing. All executed with full support of sound.Portato,staccato,staccatissimo,downward and upward scales,arpeggios staccato,staccati commanded on pianissimo,trills,Mezzo trills,roulade flourishes,glissandi etc ... and all these ornaments used to the service of music. So?

I love watching your reaction videos, particularly when Whitney 'The Voice' Houston is the focus. In my opinion she was, is and forever will be the greatest, most gifted singer of all time. I've loved her since her emergence on the world stage back in 1985. I would love to experience your reaction to two of history's other great singers... as they had something very special too: Sarah 'The Divine One' Vaughan singing Summertime: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rq6qZ5lmzLmug2w.html her range, tone, head voice, transitioning and vibrato was amazing (she's the only singer other than Whitney who's vibrato I love) and then Ella 'The First Lady of Song' Fitzgerald singing Summertime: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q5iSnMqXmJmbkYk.html . You likely haven't seen these performances but I promise you a high level of delight if you choose to. They're magical and it's as though singers like these were paving the way for The Voice. Regards.

Hello young man, I love to here you, talk about Whitney's voice, on your videos, your so cool. It seems, you, know quite a bit about music. Do you sing? In any case I love Whitney Houston, and never grow, tired of seeing any of her video's. . I have my favorites, All the Man, with that Red , dress is awesome. Have watched it numerous times, it's one of the Best Live Performance, so hers ever. I Believe in You and Me. Love that also, and the one, with Cece Winans, Count on me, that one, almost makes, me cry. Reminds me of a girlfriend of mine, who, had went through a few trials in her life, and I was always, their for her. This song, reminds, me of that. lost my mom, May 17 2011, and my Best girlfriend, 3 months later, and another guy friend. Whitney, tho, was, and will always, be The Voice to us. Folks, stop, just focusing on her end, and remember all the joy, and love, she gave to us with her songs. It saddens, me that people, have no clue, what some of these celebrities, , have to endure to be famous. Sometimes, Whitney was sick of folks , talking about her, none, of them no what she went through to analyze , her drug, habit. I don't do drugs, and condone, it just saying. It's out now, Leolah Brown, said Whitney was murdered, she was beaten, badly, and put in that tub, which, the temperature of the water was 93 degrees. It was said that Bobbi, Kriss, was supposed to be sacrificed, and she didn't die, right away. She was Leolah said getting a little bit , better, and they took, her feeding tube, out and starved her. Nick Gordon , beat her. They said Whitney put, up fight, but it was said to be some Professional's, and no one was around to protect, her , her to bodyguards, were no where around. Like they were called off, cause, they know what was gonna go down that night. Clive I do believe was involved. keep videos coming.

tHE HARMONIC OVERTONES that actual gives "resonance" or a squillo in the true form.. A lot of singers do not have adequate overtones and they call them resonant. Funny how people mistake amplification for true resonance -squillo
