I wouldnt call the Dwemer open minded, in fact they were as intolerant as the Daedra adoring chimer. The fact that they chose logic and technology as their creed doesnt mean they werent extremists.

@@thalmoragent9344 Yeah thinking back on it the whole race coming back dispels the mystery that makes them so intriguing. But two or three would be very fascinating, kind of like the two Snow Elves we met in Dawnguard.

@thalmoragent9344 11 ай бұрын
@@wafflingmean4477 True, although even with the Snow Elves, they only had a Chantry, so there were maybe a hundred or 2 in there at best, before Vyrthur's betrayal So, a small community of Dwemer and Ancient Falmer returning in some way would indeed be cool. Plus, all the Dwemer returning now would be odd, they'd be all over northern Tamriel and, even if they handle the bandits easily, they'd need to set boundaries and rebuild their ruins. They could do it quickly, but imagine they'd have to learn all the thousands of years they've been gone. They've never experienced the Cyrodilic Empire, the Nords aren't as dangerous as they used to be, the Ayleids are gone, the Redguards are also weaker than they once were (no sword singers) and the Snow Elves they enslaved are now basically goblin-kin, hardly recognizable.

what if striking the heart actually caused the dwemer to become incorporeal and forced them to inhabit their automatons? dwemer robots are known to be powered by special soul gems what if the dwemer souls are what's keeping them powered for so long?
@DaedhrotheElf
@DaedhrotheElf 7 жыл бұрын
this is actually an interesting theory. though, in skyrim, many of the robots had empty soul gems (whether it is just game mechanics and bethesda not wanting people to easily get filled soul gems or not)

Daedhro the Elf well when you "kill" the robot, the soul gem could sorta die with it or the sender dwemer soul released maybe it's why they're all hostile to everyone it seems idk. Just had that wondering maybe they had ironic divine revenge enacted on them by the gods or something. First tried to create their own robot god, then straight up wanted to be gods, maybe they got turned into the very things they made and in that sense became their "gods" lol

It's very unlikely there are more than a handful of dwemer left in mundus, and probably just the one. It's not like there would be an entire village of dwemer just chilling in another plane of existence. The one in morrowind was on another plane because he is a wizard, and while throughout history there are have been many examples of wizards visiting other planes, it's still a very rare thing. Also the dwemer weren't trying to mock the gods specifically, that's just how the other races perceived their actions. The dwemer were simply interested in understanding (misunderstanding?) everything they could about the natural and spiritual worlds. They were extremely analytical and ambitious, but not necessarily malicious. The most horrible thing we've know of them doing was enslaving the falmar, but we don't fully understand the conditions of that act either. Given how protective they were of their technology, I like to imagine that they were xenophobic to the point they could only agree to allow the falmar into their inner chambers if they were rendered blind and unable to recreate their technology. I don't think it was directly malicious, just a cold calculated logic.

My theory for them being called dwarves is that, during the second era, Cyrrodillic culture was so decadent that the Dwemer were represented as ridiculous comic relief characters in the plays of the time, so I'm assuming that maybe they were accordingly represented with a more diminutive stature, like dwarves. Unfortunately I don't remember the exact reference.

I have a fee theories about them... They may have been shoved into a pocket of space and time cut off from mundus. Another theory is that they are actually on LYG and they are just having the worst time of their lives. Personally my favorite is that because lorkan's heart once belonged to lorkans body, the moons of nirn, they just teleported to the moons. This may have to do with a mystery of disappearing moons. While it may be a stretch it must also be noted that the psyjic order also manage to make their island vanish from time to time.
@DaedhrotheElf
@DaedhrotheElf 7 жыл бұрын
I thought about lyg at some point, but it does not really have any ties to divinity, lorkhan or the dwemer. there is a particular way to enter lyg, and lyg does "bleed" into tamriel sometimes, but it is less likely that the dwemer were teleported there. but of course, it is parallel to tamriel so maybe they did, or they could have been shifted into the next timeline (if you believe the theory of redguards coming from another timeline).

FloorPannel My theory is that all their souls were simultaneously bound to something near them. I say this because of the quest where you get the spell Arniel's shade. In that quest Arniel experiments with a makeshift heart of Lorkhan using the weapon that the dwemer made to strike it, Keening. When he strikes the makeshift heart with Keening, he disappears, and we are given the power to summon his soul. Perhaps the dwemer were actually bound to the automotons they made, which is why they are still able to move hundreds or even thousands of years after the dwemer disappeared.

According to Falion and other mortals who have walked the plains of Oblivion, they say they have seen whole settlements of Dwemer there. The Dwemer really pissed several of the gods off, especially Azura, ( Read Azura and the Box) and many theorize that the moment the heart was struck, Azura placed them in a pocket of Oblivion for their blasphemy. Something to look into

I believe that the Dwemer actually became bound to the nearest objects that were around, like you said about that mage, but you get a spell that allows you to summon his shade, which could mean he became bound to you. If so when Numidium was activated, then it's possible they became bound to the Chimer or their own creations, and if another mage could find a way to reverse it, then it's likely they could be returned to their bodies, or in some other form. I don't think they are gone for good, but still around, unfortunately those that became bound to the Chimer would have died with the Chimer, and just like how we got no notification from receiving the spell to summon the mages shade, they would have had no idea what happened. this would also mean that the only ones that could be recovered would be the ones bound to the creations, and could also explain how after centuries the creations still live

Nah, the machines in Morrowind were powered directly by the heart of lorkhan itself, and would stop working if they went too far from red mountain. And the ones in Skyrim used soul gems to tap into the power of the heart of lorkhan by siphoning geothermal energy from underground magma flows. This is all info that's in the games.

Where you take the perspective of a Dwemer fighting in Red Mountain against the invading Chimer. And at the end you get to watch Kagrenac use Sunder and Keening on the Heart of Lorkhan. Either it shows you what happened to the Dwemer, or it ends right there.

I personally think that now there's a divided in the Dwemer, if they really did Ascend to being spiritual gods or whatever and if there is still Dwemer that walk among the world, I feel like that would put a divided in their culture. Now you might have asked yourself the same question I asked, if they are still around, why aren't they walking around? Why aren't they taking back their abandoned Kingdom? I think it's because of a few reasons but, one being they might think the war is still going on, the other one might be that they already did go and scope out a few areas and when they seen there was no one there, they saw no point in staying so instead of causing another conflict or risk to themselves, they decided just to hide away, they might just not think it's worth interacting with other people, especially elves given their history, that's just my theory on it though.

There could be people living in modern Tamriel who have Dwemer ancestry. The various races of men and mer can and do reproduce together, so it's entirely possible for there to be people with a Dwemer many times great-grandparent. personally I feel as though the Dwemer were descendants of the original spirits who followed Lorkhan and helped his plan, they remembered their past and it turned into their desire to manipulate the divine powers. imo they were severed from the godhead entirely when Kagrenak performed his rushed completion of his grand creation. I don't think any of them were left in Tamriel but some were away traveling so some might be able to return, doubt they would though as they generally hunker down for long durations and travel rarely. Unfortunately the snow elves were twisted into the Falmer entirely, so there will never be any more snow elves unless there is some extreme magical event to reverse the changes.

I find it strangely funny that for a race that hates the gods, they sought to become that which they hated. This is partly why I believed they zero-summed out of existence. They tried to achieve the impossible and the gods just let them commit one last heresy. Talos mantled Lorkhan, achieving godhood that way. The Dwemer tried to circumvent that. About the only good contribution they did by activating Numidium was bringing the wheel that much closer to the Dragonborn's coming.

Hey can I just ask, do you have any software on your PC that allows you to edit your audio? (I'm sure there are some free ones online somewhere). I only say this because, although I've enjoyed your content, I must say that your stuttering? or just trying to find the right words? Like at 5:48 . (I'm assuming English isn't your first language). This can be a little off putting at times. And just by making short takes of your script at a time, having every word count and be legible, will enhance your content a little bit more. You probably already do this and I just don't notice it. Also nerves can be disruptive as well when it comes to speaking, so I understand if you can't help it. Anyway that's just my constructive criticism. I still like your videos BTW. And I always appreciate the hard work that goes into finding the information and then turning it into a video. Good job and keep it up.

I've always found the concept of the Dwemmer finding the heart to be strange. We really have no confirmation if the Dwemmer truly believed if the Gods existed or not. I could see them ridiculing the other races for their beliefs but then not believing it for themselves. With the heart of Lorkhan, that is definitive proof of Gods and just a measure of their ability and power. So wouldn't finding the heart, realizing what it is, and realizing they actually haven't been able to create something like this and probably never could didn't bother them in the least bit? I imagine there is more to it that hopefully get touched on, but maybe that was divisive for the Dwemmer. A newly religious part of them in witnessing the heart, and the traditionalists that still believe in the ways of science and knowledge

I think more than "hating" the gods, Dwemer simply saw them as examples to be followed, rather than worshiped.

definitely more in line with what we see in the games - the dwemer manipulation of the heart of lorkhan to create numidium, a mechanical god, is definitely the greatest piece of evidence for this interpretation. they saw the power of the gods and wanted to attain it for their race.

There are like 10 different elves in the elder scrolls series. Lol I for reals thought dewmer were the trur dwarves of the series. They fulfill that niche while still being elves though which kinda bothers me. But it still cool though knowing that now.

I pray that this is true, it would be stupid of Bethesda to leave out such a unique and awesome race. When I think about it, I can’t understand why they would eliminate the Snow Elves and the Dwemer through lore. These two races of Mer NEED to make a comeback in ES6. Perhaps the god Auriel blesses the corrupt Falmer and brings them back to their original form. Perhaps the Dwemer entered a time warp and traveled to the future. After all, Kagrenac was a extremely intelligent figure, among the Dwemer- which says a lot, and I don’t think he used Lorkhan’s heart with no fruitful result. Thoughts?

I really fucking hope not. The dwemer are far more intetesting as an ancient mystery, and I don't trust post-Skyrim Bethesda to write a decent story if their lives depended on it.

In blackreach there is an extreme amount of amulets of Kyne and Julianos. Maybe something to talk about? (if you even see this comment on a four year old video lmao)

Technically they're misotheists since they acknowledge the existence of the gods.

I hope they are. If not i wasted many real life hours searching cyrodil and skyrim for them. I probably wouldn't classify them as atheists. Who don't believe in god. These guys not only believe but think they can supplant them. I think we were given a preview of what happened ib skyrim. Considering how much power was being slung around during the battle they disappeared in. I half suspect an elder scroll was used to defeat the Jaeger. But like alduin at somepoint they will return. I choose to believe the one met in morrowind basically drew the short straw. He is pivotal in stopping large scale searches for the dwemer.

Started a new playthrough just recently and used a Dwemer mod. To me playing as a Dwemer and standing in front of oblivious Calcelmo is hilarious. The character is so out of it and into his own BS he'd never notice a actual Dwarf in front of him.

not an inworld explanation but an explanation none the less, dwarfs are from Nordic mythology hence the overall Nordic design in other media, another name within Norse mythology for the dwarfs are the dark elves

They were not atheists, they are anti-deists. They recognize the gods, they just do not see them as above the Dwenmer.
