I wasn't going to do this but since i'm learning it anyways I decided to since it's highly requested. So it's lowkey a Christmas gift to you all.
Remember, this is not a full analysis, a ranking, or even really a contest. I’m simply focusing on parts of AYA that I saw certain members do really nicely and sometimes explaining why. It is not telling of their overall ability, just supposed to be a fun watch.
Here is the approx amount of time I ended up focusing on each member. Again, not every move is equally as hard or as fast so it doesn’t mean much.
Wheein 61s
Hwasa 44s
Solar 33s
Moonbyul 18s
Wheein
The cleanest overall in this dance, definitely an intuitive performer with great control and experience. Her main issue for me is that texture in her performance and sometimes underdances, missing details. She doesn’t always have the vigor for the moves. The dance heavily relies on the drama. Wheein stays on the same note a lot, I think just by varying the intensity in her moves based on the music more, her performance could skyrocket even more.
Hwasa
Although she has a few issues with timing and accuracy, Hwasa has great control over her chest and hip movements, often able to complete full quick rotations best. She also has a good attitude for the performance.
Solar
I definitely think Solar performs this song amazingly. She’s very into the emotions and is feeling the music, varying her performance based on what is being played musically. However, her accuracy is pretty rough. Particularly she forgets a bit about her lower body details, usually kicking her legs or popping her hip out a little weirdly or missing it.
Moonbyul
Despite being arguably the best dancer in Mamamoo, she’s just kind of doing her own thing in this video lol. A lot of moves are unfinished, cutting out details or doing something else all together. I think AYA allows for some freedom of style so Moonbyul could just be going a bit overboard with it. But also there are underdancing moments unrelated to stylistic choices. However, when she does get the move right, she shows a great sense of rhythm, control, and performance in it. Anyways Moonbyul is my bias in the group and I think she’s better than my vid gives her credit for. It could just be her choices for this particular dance or even performance that results in this or maybe she’s even not feeling that great lately you never know.
