IMO you don’t need to tell us who you root for. To me, a born and raised Detroit fan, I don’t care who you root for. You’re a fair and honest guy. I watch you for your insight, and pure love of the game of hockey. Let the haters hate. We, the fans love your opinions.

I am primarily a Sabres fan and over time have adopted the mindset of cheering for more than one team. Without that, I think I would have dropped hockey completely over the past 13 seasons lol

If your a hockey fan, you kind of have to do that. only 1 out of 32 teams can win a year. You are set for failure just by the odds each year.

Never cheer for more than 1 team. It's what bandwagon fans do, and you'll never be taken seriously. I'm a Stars fan so I know what it's like to be dissapointed in a team you supports' failure. I also cheer for the Bills in Football, so I can understand the misery and frustration one deals with on a yearly basis cheering for a team from Buffalo.

I knew the Kings would be bottom row. I skip a vast majority of news of the day videos because the Kings are rarely in them. I'm not mad. I'm still subbed and I still watch previews, reviews, power rankings and panic indexes, so there's that. Anyone who doesn't appreciate the effort Shannon puts in is free to start their own yt channel.

Thank you for the Campbell jersey. I miss those named divisions and conferences. It made hockey unique with some history behind it.

Heck, in the 90s my team (to this day) the Avs. Second? Detroit. Had a big wall of Avs stuff, small wall of Wings. Roy & Yzerman jerseys side by side. Later it became the Lightning at 2, so that Cup was fun. Now it’s probably the Canes who have always been top 4ish.

Seeing the Oilers pull off the comeback they did this year was enough of a reason to cheer for them, then they almost broke a record with the streak. That's impressive no matter what team you cheer for as far as I'm' concerned.

I feel that only times this shows a bit is when you are harsher/sceptical towards your top 3... :) My personal favourite is Sharks. From their start. Getting mainly scrubs to build a team and then that horrendous second season. In strange way I enjoy this current era more than the Marleau/Thornton underachieving era. Second would be Stars through that I loved the North Stars outfits. Stars not that much. But as Finn the Franchise have had the most Finns through any NHL team. (total of 4996 games played by Finns). If I would gather top 10 then I guess the rest would be in no order Panthers, Hurricanes, Predators, Senators, Wild, Black Hawks (yes I spelled it like that for reason), Flames and Canucks. Canucks sympathy partly through watching this channel.

It’s obvious: Other than the 3 teams Shannon has historically rooted for, he roots for the underdogs. Other than NYR, he roots for those who haven’t had success for a long time. I’m a Blues fan since 1968, and I am the same way. And for some reason, I’ve always liked NYR. I’m also rooting for a Canadian team to win The Cup. It’s been way too long since they’ve won one.

Wow, I also cheer for 4 out of your top 5. Just not Boston. I live near Vancouver and I lived in Ottawa for 8 months of my life. As a smaller Canadian market, I just like Winnipeg. Then, since my parents are both Finnish, I tend to cheer for teams with many Finns (ie. Dallas, Florida, Carolina, Colorado, etc). Also, I cheer for Buffalo, cuz I would like to see them have some success.

You can certainly have 2 or multiple teams you cheer for. I personally am a big fan of the Blue Jackets and the Sharks. My dad is a big sharks fan so I became one and I live in Ohio so I cheer for the Blue Jackets. This is also why 2019 is such a fever dream for me because that's the closest I'll ever get to have my dream of San Jose vs. Columbus for the Stanley Cup.

For me WSH MTL NSH VAN…. All have a Caps connection MTL since ‘67.. WSH followed since 74 became a huge fan when Langway arrived NSH since inception when Poile became the GM VAN when Holts and Beagle went there

You could make a grid and go through all the possible matchups. Then, you count up the votes. In theory, you end up with a team with 31 votes down to a team with 0 votes.

Shannon I see too many default comments like this. Detroit had good to excellent goalkeeping most of the year thanks to Lyon. I feel people bag on goalies because they don’t like save pctg, gaa or remember a few leaky goals. As Yzerman himself said, inconsistent netminding is an NHL-wide issue. Shannon, I maintain the increasing skill, speed and style of attack makes goaltending vulnerable. I wish you would make a video on this. Again, tired of media (and fans) seeing four goals on 25 shots and automatically conclude goalie was “horrible.”

One of my best friends is a die hard & loyal Leafs fan (I'm not). He always says "you can't cheer for 2 teams." But he's also been a huge Gretzky fan. He's grown up collecting Leafs and Gretztky items all his life. He was totally conflicted when Gretzky destroyed his Leafs in Game 7 back in 1993. It was the closest his Leafs ever got to the Stanley Cup finals in his lifetime. It is still "too raw' to razz him about -- so I've never bring it up.

Shannon. I respect your list for sure. Except the Stars. I am roughly same age as you... grew up in Chicago and now live in Denver. I believe the NorthStars mascot/logo/name was amazing (and so do you I think). Now that name is lost forever in the hockey world because Dallas hockey wanted to piggyback on the Dallas Cowboys 'star' emblem on the helmet. Leave it to the country of Texan to steal this away forever. Luckily the Nordiques name and logo could still be resurrected some day, Colorado just borrows it from time to time.

Living in WNY, you know where my tear-ridden allegiance lies, BUT this year you have made me see the league in a whole different perspective. The one series that was kinda interesting to me was Boston/Toronto. My basic instinct regarding these two teams has always been that I wanted the building to implode. Good, neither team wins. But this year at the end, I was actually a bit sad that Toronto was out. Yeah, I know, heresy. Nope, wouldn't root for the Leafs during the season, but in the playoffs my dislike for Toronto was way less that for the Bruins (sorry Shannon).

My favorite team is the jets. 2nd favorite were the sharks cause I felt so bad for them. 32nd are the oilers. It doesn't matter who they play im rooting for the other team
