There are no neutral states. There are only countries that recognized or did not recognize Kosovo. All countries that are marked as neutral have not recognized Kosovo.

It's not simple as that. Ukraine didn't reckognize Kosovo and people with Kosovo passport cannot travel there but Russia reckognizes Kosovo passports but doesn't reckognize the country so there are some double players. Hungary reckognized Kosovo but not one single Hungarian supports Kosovo as a country 🤷

Here is why Serbia refuses to give up Kosovo, even though it has given up some other lands of the former Yugoslavia. For Serbs, Kosovo is their Jerusalem, their Holy Land. The single most cherished event in Serbian history happened in 1389 in Kosovo - the Battle of Kosovo between the Serbs and the invading Ottoman Turks. That event is so deeply embedded in the Serbian collective memory and mindset, our epic and lyric poems, history, even our DNA, plus the fact that there are many Serbian Orthodox churches and monasteries in Kosovo from the Middle Ages - these are some of the reasons why we can't officially give up on it, although deep down most of us know that we've lost it. That doesn't mean we have to agree with it. Kosovo was taken from us in 1389. We got it back in 1913. It took 524 years, but we got it back. It was taken away from us again in WW 2, in 1941, but we got it back in 1945. It was again taken from us in 1999. We will get it back. Somehow. Some day. Some way. But, if we offically recognize it, it is gone forever. If we don't recognize it, there is a chance that somehow, some day we may get it back. We are all tired of this issue, but not a single Serb on this planet would sign a document in which Serbia would recognize Kosovo. So, both Kosovo and Serbia are stuck. This is delaying our integration into the EU indefinitely. Now I hope many of you will understand why Serbia refuses to give up Kosovo. Very deep reasons.

This is a very good mapping video. It's about 50-50 % at the moment. The reason why Serbia has a lot of support in Africa, Asia, and Latin America is because of Yugoslavia's role in the Non-Alligned Movement during the Cold War. Serbia is the main successor state to Yugoslavia and some countries have not forgotten their friendship with us in those days. Without Serbia's explicit recognition, Kosovo will not get anywhere. Serbia will never recognize it officially, Russia will keep on backing Serbia and vetoing all American attempts to get Kosovo into the UN... So, it is a situation that will not be resolved anytime soon. Also, things are not so black and white. For example, while the Governments of Montenegro and North Macedonia have recognized Kosovo, their people, a great majority, would never have done so, if they had a chance and were asked about it.
