From his birth in Sparta as a demigod whose father is Zeus and mother is Callisto, training as a boy with his brother Deimos to become a Spartan warrior, losing his brother to an attack led by the god Ares, growing to possess superpowers such as massive strength and durability, pledging allegiance to Ares for destroying Alrik and his barbarians, using his savagery and supernatural weapons like the Blades of Chaos / Blades of Exile to carry out brutal campaigns at the command of Ares, learning about the gods' trickery and being fooled into destroying his family leading him to wage war on all Olympian gods as the "Ghost of Sparta," beating Ares to gain the powers and title of the "god of war," defeating all of Olympia including his powerful father Zeus, to raising his new son Atreus in the Norse world; Let's take a look at this classic videogame / DC Comics anti-hero, and arguably the greatest being to ever carry the "god of war" mantle. This includes a short, canon character biography and my own opinionated "Sage Rating," which I use to give ratings of comic books and science fiction characters.

They could. But heres the thing. The movie industry is far different than the video game industry, stories in games are more complex and harder to convey in an hour. Even GOW4 the cutscenes alone added up to 8 hours. And its a higher profit. The effort put into GOW5 will be far less than animating a new movie. We already have the engine, therefore the cost effecive choice and most profit comes from a new game. Venturing out into other media is harder and not worth the money.

Justin Robinson I see what you're saying and I do agree. But a nice 90 minute animated movie would be cool if done right. Devil may cry, dead space and castlevania have gone for the series and witcher getting a netflix show. I would like to see how kratos got from Greece to Norway and watch him being perused by athena and calliope turning him mad. It doesn't have to be a blockbuster and god of war is so popular now it would surely get people watching it. Imagine if they made a series and it was kratos killing the gods of Rome to get to Norway. Greek and roman gods having a connection in real mythology could be a good storyline. Like athena having some connection to them and chaos ensues. I think something like that would be really sweet.

In the books much is explained pretty well. Like his wings that are fused into his back and controlled by magic. His blades stuck on his back with godly power, part of the curse, and can be unchained if he wishes to do so. But like most Greek Champions, and as god of war, he is a master with all weapons.

If you think about it, Daemos is the mark warrior by birth. But kratos would be the true marked warrior because he got marked by ares physically and mentally (scar on his face and the loss of his brother) as well as him killing a lot of his relatives he had close ties with and his own Hercules-esque journey/labors.

Kadmos' Rebellion “the marked warrior” was bullshit and made up by Athena so Kratos wouldn’t be killed. Athena needed him to get a nice molding through life and combat with anger combination so she can use him and take down Olympus. But she failed like Zeus pull out game.

Actually the Oracle WAS in fact talking about Kratos as the marked warrior, and not Deimos, because Kratos made his red tattoos in memory of his brother, thereby becoming the marked warrior and completing the prophecy Ares and Athena tried to stop from coming true.

Muhammed Ali Inamdar wrong! Athena and ares did not want to stop it. The real being who brought it all down was Athena. She was the original warrior/being to bring the destruction of Olympus. She lied that it was Deimos so Athena instead of Kratos was taken. Ares later found out Athena’s plan, so she got rid of him. Furries was in in the plan also, and knew exactly what ares wanted. He was doing all he could to get back the warrior he lost, after he made him kill his own blood. Kratos did not bring the destruction of Olympus, he was a pawn to Athena all along. Athena sheltered him from the wraith of Olympus when he went to SOF to change his faith. If Zeus would of found out, he would of stopped him. Zeus all along though Kratos was dead.

Mike S. I wouldn't say kratos is op. He still gets his ass kicked in gow 1 and 2 by some of the gods. It wasn't until gow 3 where he became a god killing machine. Personally I find OP characters boring asf (superman) but kratos enemies are just as powerful, if not more so, than himself. It took him 6 games to finally kill the pantheon as killing the olypians was no easy feat. His journey is epic and gets his ass handed to him many times until he becomes powerful enough to take on the gods. But he needed the help of the titans and the help of a rogue God to achieve this. If he was op he could have just blasted them away with eye lazers or something 😀

I played the games myself. taking on a pantheon of gods is no easy feat as you said. to me even having a chance and the ability to overcome all the gods is enough to be considered very powerful or overpowered. but thinking about it, I don't like using the term pverpowered too much. but I can say kratos is very strong. he himself is a god, has healing factor, super strength, can keep up with speedsters, super durability and endurance, enhanced intelligence, very experienced fighter, I mean I may be leaving something out but those together make up a strong ass individual. help or not. but even the most op people get their ass kicked at some point

DC comics??? The thing is that Kratos power will always be underrated because his most powerful asset is destiny. He is destined to overcome impossible odds. He is destined to be able to use the one thing that can kill his enemies, so while on paper he doesn't seem very powerful in the DC universe, he definitely is.

Actually, your channel has already been hitting many good spots. I knew that this would be the only place I visit for comics understanding. It is just that when you added Sub-Zero and Kratos to the list, there is no doubt your channel is da best! Just a thought though, if you could run the illustration fit with your narration, it would be awesome! Great job anyway! Hope this channel grow and gain more attention.

The fact that the last issue was released by DC comics doesn't really mean he's part of of the DC comic universe. And honestly, that's better if he isn't. I mean, DC has all these gods in it, and they're very important, especially for wonderwoman. And he kills em all. One by one.

No he would not. Aquaman was perfect. Kratos would not be. If he were taller, Tyrese would be perfect. One better would be Isaiah Washington built up. Delroy Lindo as well, but he's too old now. It could still work, but man would he need a Black Adam level workout to get there. Of course The Rock works, but I wouldn't place him as such. Conan and Black Adam are his strongest comics marks. ...There is his co-star who will play Hawkman.

Darrian Love this video is misinformation. If kratos was in DC he would be the single most threatening thing in the universe next to Darkseid. Think about an angry demigod that killed an entire Pantheon of gods and even killed the sisters of fate just because of his will. Seriously if we do some scaling kratos would essentially become the god of death, destruction and chaos

Calling Kratos a DC Comics character is an insult to Sony Santa Monica, who actually created the character. Kratos may have appeared in a comic published by DC, but they didn't create him, and neither did Wildstorm Comics. Also, Calliope is "kuh-LIE-oh-pee," not "CAL-ee-ohp," and Atreus is "a-TRAY-us," not "AY-tree-us." By the way, his second spouse is not unnamed, her name is Faye. I'm not trying to be rude, just trying to help out, so I hope it doesn't come across as such. On a sidenote, there is some really badass artwork in this video. I know some of it is from actual cutscenes, or perhaps gameplay footage, but I saw a lot of what appeared to be fanart, and some of it was absolutely ridiculous.
