I have lots of fun playing Birthright and also lots of funs with their units. My only slight complain on the route is that all the chapters are either Size or Rout Birthright since you are defending and also attacking , it would have been so much better have some defensive chapters when you were at Hoshido , and have like a turn limit on size or kill boss when you are invading Nohr. Also Birthright on story compared to Conquest , Conquest literally 80% of the game is filler and no story progression "until" you invade Hoshido , while in Birthright is pretty much chapter after chapter on progression.

As someone who has played it recently, I do get why someone would say that. The number of boring rout maps that can be trivialized with very little thought is a pretty persistent issue for a lot of the game I found.

I have to agree with Bluegh that Corrin is the best unit in Birthright. You layout many of the reasons why I think so but I want to emphasis them. Corrin can be any class you want in the game which plays strongly into the four things you value in a unit. They also have the ability to give those class sets to any other unit you would want to use including Azura and Ryoma. Corrin is also the only forced deployment slot so even if you made them strictly a pair-up unit, Corrin does it better than anyone else in the game. I feel the only real flaw Corrin has, as Bluegh brought up, is what do you want Corrin to ultimately do. The options are limitless. But yeah I agree ultimately its mute since all three are insane units.

I’ve lost him I think twice both of them were due to ctits. One was from Bow Knight in BR endgame with 22% hit. Another one was on Revelation Ch 16. A Berserker came in and pushed his shit in so hard

That same berserker (or, the first on that map) also hit my Ryoma, it was embarassing for him. He's almost a dodgetank but not so much he gets 10% hits from enemies, it's more like 20%, he's just carried by Swordmaster + 1-2 range. While he has a low chance of dying, Ryoma basically ALWAYS has a chance of dying against multiple enemies, because his defense is poor. You just need a slightly unlucky hit or two, and then a way more unluckier, but possible, bad Vantage turn (no Astra, crit, shield gauge, and enemie gets a hit) As someone who doesn't like resetting maps I hated using Ryoma, even though he was one of my only options for the Lunatic endgame enemy spam, and technically probably had a low chance of dying (he only died in the lava map, when I was figuring out the gimmick, pressed the wrong statue and flooded the area with bad tiles+reinforcements)

it's more of a fun fact than a viable option, but just to further emphasize how much of a widespread effect Corrin's talent can have, if you picked Mercenary or Fighter for Sol access, you're not even limited to choosing between Corrin, Corrin's spouse, Kana, or Kana's sibling as your rallybot for Rally Strength or Rally Skill. Kana friendship and Kana marriage both give access to Corrin's talent as well, so that's at least two more choices if you're willing to build the support it would take to do it it's almost certainly not worth the time and effort, but if for some reason you really want to do this, it is technically an option that exists

Corrin being able to give sol to a partner plus be a Berserker backpack for them at the same time is pretty amazing, so I am surprised it was not brought up. I have not tried it myself but I assume a Saizo with sol from Corrin marriage + Corrin backpack can solo the game just as well as Ryoma with Corrin or Rinkah backpack.

I think that this is why Corrin is the best for me. Not only as a combat unit can they be ridiculous but they offer strong units access to things they normally would not have access to normally. Getting sol is impossible aside from silas in birthright Corrin opens that door for Ryoma and any 1/2 range hypercarry. But it's not limited to sol or birthright and Corrin provides endless amount of potential for so many units. And in a sense provides indirectly something similar to azura in a sense of being able to elevate the potential of units by basically just existing and offering access to these skills. Sol Saizo Can solo birthright.

If you really care to maximize Sol access Jakob can also get it from Felicia via Partner Seal, since they share the Troubadour base class.

Most balanced in the way that it’s equally broken Pretty much any character can break it wide open. It’s not “who can you break the game with?”, it’s “who are you going to choose to break the game with this time?” 😜

@@durma6924 pair up on its own doesn't allow for any more dancer shenanigans than Olivia can do. Shelter is the real enabler and allows for a lot of shenanigans that pair up by itself simply doesn't

Well all three of them have their own value and thing and you could say are your "trifecta" - Corrin is the main character so it has by default perfect availability but have unique things that make other better and also is the most "versatile unit" of the game - Azura being the "singer" aka dancer of the game , instantly puts her on the highest of tiers , but you slap there that "she has insane availability" - Ryoma is "the power house" of Birthright , and pretty much is like your "Seth of FE8" or the "Haar of FE 10" , but the difference is that Ryoma comes in the middle of the game but at the right time. And you pretty much have to tried to actually kill him lol. Also his Raijinto puts him on like "he can now counter from range" - Personally for me , as someone who have beat Birthright not in depth like all of you guys but have clear lunatic classic 3 times , its Corrin just because she is there for you in the "early game" when things are tougher. While Ryoma is really good and you are handicapping yourself by not using him , Corrin is forced deployed every single chapter , and you add there that she can become "any class" , so whatever you need or want her to be for that moment , she can just become that class. Also being the main character grants you supports with the whole cast , meaning that you can make everyone around Corrin "much better units" , specially on a game that is hard wire on "pair ups".

Ryoma is the best imo because despite his availability, he's there for the hardest chapters, Corrin and Azura might be good but ryoma is just better, doesn't rely on the exp curve and the early maps are baby easy

Do wish you included Saizo, while I don't think he's better than Corrin or Azura I do think he makes a really good case for being better than Ryoma due to his availability lead and stats being good enough that he can dominate the game almost as hard as he can

Would Ryoma be in this category if he didn't have Raijinto? He's obviously a powerful unit but if he was stuck with a +3 Kodachi and could not both double and counter attack at 2 range, would he be in the same category? I just completed a Hana/Corrin run with Hana as the lead unit and Oni Cheiftan Corrin as her backpack, so he's probably still viable. I just wonder how much of his status is due to his overpowered sword, as opposed to him himself.

I just wish Brithright was harder to play. I've done two runs and even on Lunatic it is comical how easy it was, so I never go back to it

My argument for Corrin is simple. You have to use Corrin, so if you want to "play the best" you're going to plan it out no matter what. So if you care to plan out the route you're going to plan out Corrin. And if you're not "play the best", then you're going to use Corrin anyways.

Would Ryoma still be a contender if he didn't have Raijinto? Forcing him to maneuver into grand ninja and work through e-rank hell is a pretty big ask.

Comparing Swordmaster Raijinto Rymona to Master Ninja Ryoma: Master Ninja has 5 Hit/Crit/Avoid/Dodge and 1 less base str (but more skill and same spd) Swordmaster has 10 Crit/Avoid Raijinto also has a passive +4 str so it's essentially 15mt, 10avo, 5 crit, 1spd (katana) A Brass Shuriken (+3) has 8mt and +2spd (so +3avo) Overall, Ryoma essentially gets -8 attack -12 avoid (including the difference from the speed) -10 crit in exchange for +1 spd +5 hit (and more from the shuriken's stats and master ninja skl base and growth) +5 dodge I think he'd be overall worse by a decent margin He doesn't really struggle in his hit rate, doubling, or getting crit (especially because most high crit enemies are berserkers and he'd be using swords as a SM) but later on he does struggle with one-rounding against tankier enemies like generals. He'd lose his disadvantage against generals but that doesn't make up for the -8 attack and inability to use offensive procs until he swaps away from brass shuriken. Also, generals are now actually a risk factor since he'd have weapon triangle disadvantage Imo he's still great but I think Saizo would be better at this point

Probably not because too much competition with other ninjas sadly. But excludong Raijinto is a bit unfair in my opinion because it's something that only he can have and doesn't need any investment or effort to get it's basically a free broken stat stick that is integral to his kit kind of like a second personal skill in a way.

@@cloudy978 Not fair or not, Ryouma clearly isn't balanced around having Raijinto. If he didn't have Raijinto he still utterly demolishes 90% of the cast. It's not like Guy or something where they're gimped due to starting with a killing edge.

@@legefy meh not sue I mean he loses to Saizo and other units without Raijinto and his survivability takes a chunk because he doesn't kill stuff fast enough without it. I agree he would still be strong but not necessarily stronger than 90% Imo.you'd need to invest more in him and I think that investment is better off into other units who can thrive more with hat effort.
