In the ever expanding realm of finance memes there is one meme that triumphs all in the eyes of the bulls. Sminem. Originally posted to the internet in 2014, this photo of a Russian Boy wearing a laughably bootlegged Eminem T-Shirt was quietly passed around for years until finding its way onto 4chan. Once the anons of /biz/ got ahold of Sminem he quickly was morphed into one of the most iconic finance memes of all time, and was made to be an excellent foil for the infamous Bogdanoff Twins. But who exactly is Sminem, and what his his backstory? Today we find out.

Another Russian here. Found his VK page, not gonna post it here, obviously, but the last post there is dated late January this year, so the guy's fine and dandy, don't worry. He is also apparently dating a 30 yo woman, but I'm going off of the relationship status on his page here since there are no pictures of them together and his page doesn't have that many pictures in general. But anyway, he probably just got spooked by Western memers and nothing really came from the Russian side of things, since he's like a minor old meme here.

just purely speculating here, but the sad reason why some people at his age are still so closely tied to their mums is down to trauma over bullying. I dont know his story and wether this applies to him, but its very easy to assume that his looks and his apparent intellectual disability might have given him a hard childhood and his mum might have been one of the very few people he felt safe being around. This behaviour of feeling uncomfortable and intimidated outside your own home can carry on into adulthood, which is why some young adults are too scared to leave from there. Whatever it is, I sincerely hope that Sminem takes the memes well and does not read negative intent into them.

Sure, you can be stigmatized for pretty much anything: your race(black, white, asian, etc.), your job, your income, your sex, your personality, your likes, your dislikes, hell, just some rumors about you that are completely false can ruin your life and lead you to be ostracized from society. However that doesn't mean that in a vain attempt to somehow avoid this we must police our thoughts and speech with euphemisms in order to exhibit some short-lived empathy and feel good about ourselves, as that is the only pursuit of most people engaging in this trend. Stating that people with mental health conditions are ill does not demean them, since the first step to solving a problem is recognizing it.

I'm just making the OP aware that illness is not something someone intellectually challenged wants to be labelled as. Illness by definition is a period of sickness. Sminem possibly has a condition he was born with, there's nothing wrong with him, he would think and feel different and in cases, require special needs. Nevertheless he may just look different and be socially awkward. We just don't know.

In southern European Russia where he lives a lot of people(especially in small towns and villages) pronounce their "r"s differently, like Ukranians(we even have a word for the way they say it), he does sound like he has trouble speaking normally though.

@Joske Vermeulen Not really, my mother is Ukrainian and they don't speak like that at all.(the language used in the video was russian with no Ukrainian accent). This guy probably just hate Ukrainian people for no reason, as all russians do. Sminem clearly is a person with some sort of disabilities in fact he still lives with his mother who takes care of him.
