The biggest factor for height was easily whether you reside in cities or not. 80 crore people still get government rations for food so it is easy to imagine them not having nutritious meals. If you look at metropolitan cities the younger generation is pretty tall. I regularly come across 6 feet plus people. Both my mom and dad are short about 5'5 but I'm 5'10 because I got all the benefits they were deprived of. If you look at the map I shared look at the states with the most population that is how averages becomes so lower.
