For me, it's Klopp. He's taken struggling clubs to the top and overcome better teams with bigger budgets. Pep has always gone to the best clubs that already won trophies/leagues and made them better. I'd like to see Pep at a club that is struggling/not won anything for a while. Edit: Wow, didn't think this would attract this many comments and likes. To clarify what I meant about 'struggling clubs' and including Liverpool in that. Before Klopp's arrival, since the 11/12 season, LFC's league finishes have been: 8th, 7th, 2nd, and 6th. The last trophy won was the League Cup in the 11/12 season under Kenny Dalglish. Before Pep's arrival, since the 11/12 season, Man City's finishes have been: 1st, 2nd, 1st, 2nd and 4th. Liverpool hadn't won the league in the whole of the Premier League era since 1992, aka the best part of 30 years. Man City were PL champions 2 out of the 5 seasons before Pep arrived. Every club's struggles are relative. Liverpool not winning the league in over 30 years was deemed a failure, hence why they were struggling before Klopp worked his magic. Both are quality managers, but Klopp edges it for me. Or, at least until Pep goes to a club that hasn't won a league in 20/30 years and takes them to the top. So far in his career, he hasn't done that.

What you mean is, you'd like to see Pep not win because you're tired of him dominating. Why would he join a struggling club? Which manager does that by choice? Klopp didn't pick Mainz to prove himself to people with nonsensical narratives like yourself, it was the best job he could get at the time. Top clubs want top managers.

Before Klopp took over, Liverpool were losing 6-1 to Stoke City and always finishing outside of the top 4. Playing in the champions league was a dream, never mind winning the premier league or other trophies. You might say, what about 2013/14? But we all know it was just Suarez going supernova and dragging us to a title we didn’t deserve to win anyway. Klopp has made Liverpool the best team in the world through excellent recruitment, shrewd tactics, incredible player development and by instilling a mentality and sheer belief to win. The things we see this Liverpool team doing right now is something we couldn’t even dream of before he joined the club. This Liverpool team is genuinely on the verge of winning the quadruple, with the last couple of weeks of the season to go. This is unprecedented! Guardiola on the other hand has made a premier league winning team more consistent and better. I would argue Klopp could’ve done the same there, but could Guardiola emulate Klopp’s success at Liverpool? Highly doubt it!

Really?, you would argued Klopp could have ultimately dominating the EPL by winning it 4 times out of 5 if he were to be City’s gaffer? If so why, then has he won it only once thus far for the 6years or so he has been managing Liverpool with pretty much good budget and spending though not equal to City’s? You think the EPL is such an easy and straightforward competition? If is was, why did it have to take Liverpool 30years to win it once, and Klopp 6years to win it once? Yes City was a premier league winning side before Pep arrived but remember the season before he arrived, they were trophy less and didn’t made it top-four to qualify for the UCL. Both Pellegrini & Mancini won the EPL for City, but remember none of them won it back-to-back and none of them dominated the EPL as Pep did. Bear in mind that, save Sir Alex Ferguson, no Premier Manager has dominated the EPL as Pep has done thus far especially considering the way he has done it and continues doing it his way and style: i.e, the Tiki-Taka, possessive, fluid and constant attacking play which hitherto was foreign and rare in English football, except for a season or two under Arsene Wenger with Arsenal. Matter of fact, Pep made the Premier league looks so easy especially with his style of play, something which many English football fans and “anti”-Pep use to think it wasn’t possible in England taking into account how physical, pacey and rigid the English football generally is. And dude, I am even astonished how you Liverpool fans have been day-dreaming that City will not win the league title after passing the so-called Wolves & West Ham tests?? A win over Aston Villa for City at home is not far-fetched at all, not to talk of Real Madrid also as having an equal chance of beating Liverpool to the UCL title come 28th May. Hence, your wishful thinking of Liverpool winning the quadruple is just a figment of the imagination of you Liverpool fans, both in the English media and across Liverpool region. 💯👌🏽🤔

Both are absolutely world class managers, no doubt. For me it’s Klopp because: - he has the ability to even transform alleged medicore players (Matip, Henderson …) and give them an important role in the squad - he transformed players with potential into world class players (Salah, Mane, TAA …) - he has literally rebuilt Liverpool (look at the squad and starting 11 when he took over) and brought Liverpool back to Europe’s elite after winning the PL, FA Cup and the UCL - apart from his sporting achievements, he created a very special aura/atmosphere within the club but especially between the club and the fans (doesn’t mean that other managers aren’t generating similar but not in Klopp’s way) Nevertheless, Guardiola still might be the most versed and deep-thinking manager in the world.

Klopp 100%. Took two clubs who were 13th and 10th to big titles with low net spends compared to Pep's teams. Man City won leagues with Pelligrini and Mancini, they just spend big. Pep has failed to win a Champions League for 11 seasons now and his teams have been beaten by much lesser sides in most cases. Pep takes over teams who will spend big or been champions the previous year. Had Klopp taken the easy route like him he'd have won the lot many times over.

I'm a Liverpool fan, and I genuinely think it's Klopp because he elevated all three clubs way above the position they were in when he took over, and he seems to sprinkle magic dust on players that they often don't carry with them when they leave him. He has taken players like Lewandowski and Alexander Arnold, and countless others, from being nobodies to the very top. In defense of Guardiola though, he has changed the way football plays and it irritates the hell out of me when people say he needs to play at a struggling club to prove himself, and that his achievements at Barcelona are only down to Messi etc. He made some very bold decisions in his early days at Barca, got rid of some big names, and in both CL finals he started EIGHT academy players. By any metric, with or without Messi, that is absolutely sensational. He won the first six trophies available to him in management. Will that ever happen again? I doubt it. I would have liked him to come to England and take a sleeping giant, like maybe Arsenal at the time, just like Klopp did, just like Ten Haag is about to do, but anyone who can't see his quality clearly doesn't know much about football. Money doesn't always equal success. Just look at Solskjaer, or PSG. Even Mourinho's success at Chelsea, with huge financial backing, was limited and didn't bring a CL. These two are clearly the best in the business but it's Klopp for me. I wouldn't even think about trading.

Pep has 30 titles vs Klopp's 11 titles. The money argument doesnt matter since Klopp couldnt manage a team like PSG anyways. His whole philosophy is built upon 11 chasing players, and you wont get that from superstars. Pep will have a far greater legacy when he retires. His Barca team is probably the best team in history. Its just recency bias that they get compared, cuz they're actually miles apart as of now.
@richarddunne9802
@richarddunne9802 Жыл бұрын
@@mangekyosharingan5052 Recency bias? For you, perhaps. The rest of us remember Klopp breaking Bayern's monopoly on the Bundesliga in 2011 & 12, a feat which has only been enhanced by Bayern winning ten titles in a row since. They also appeared in the CL final in 2013, and haven't gotten close to it since. I also remember there being talk of City having an invincibles season in 2017/18 until they came to Anfield and were dismantled by a team that still contained players like Karius and Lovren. That same team walloped City 3-0 in the CL shortly after and beat them at the Etihad too, prolonging City's wait for the trophy. Come to think of it, there is only a one-point difference between Klopp and Guardiola in the league over the last four seasons. They are very much both at the top of the game. The runner up totals are miles ahead of what used to win the league. If you think Klopp not being able to stack up the same amount of trophies at Dortmund and walking into the mess he found at Liverpool, while Guardiola was collecting trophies at Bayern and City, two teams that were already well established champions, then I don't know what to tell you.

@@mangekyosharingan5052 No genuine footy fan would question Pep's class nor the quality of the City team's football. Both are world class. To say, however, that the money argument doesn't matter is non-sensical. It's a huge 'what if' of course re Pep because he hasn't taken on a 'project' team that hasn't got as much money as Barca of old and City of new. Both swimming in it. As for legacy, if you asked most neutrals who weren't dazzled by the cash most may well opt for Klopp as he has done it at three separate teams and with significant trophy success at Dortmund and Liverpool - disrupting the monopoly of two financial behemoths in the process. Like Mourinho and Ancelotti Pep has simply walked into a well oiled (!!!!) machine and added his not insignificant nous. Klopp has rebuilt institutions, from the bottom up, and won evreything there is to win with LFC. Pep with the greater legacy you say, has still to win the UCL with the most expensive team in the history of sport. Throw in personality, passion and humour and there is only one winner for me.

Klopp a million times, not even a question, and it's not because I'm a Liverpool fan. One of the many reasons why Klopp is better than Pep is his ability not to crumble when it gets on top, in regards to big name signings going out and big name signings coming in; long gone are the days were we struggled to replace Suarez and even Sterling, when I was predicting an absolute shipwreck and it sadly came true. Coutinho left and I thought Klopp's too nice with these players, he's not got a bad bone in his boy, but quickly I realised that it's not him lacking a back bone, he's a strict disciplinarian, as proved by Sakho leaving, due to him turning up late to training and him possibly interrupting a press conference with Klopp, when he was arguably our most valuable centre back at the time. As I said with Coutinho, due to him leaving, I thought it's only a matter of time when Real Madrid or Barca come scrounging each and every summer, I also thought we can't ever get to how good we was back then. With the players coming in, I thought Virgil and Alisson were extremely overpriced, but they was good players, but wouldn't have a game changing affect like Coutinho had, boy was I wrong. Alisson, in his debut season, stopped in the dying minutes a crucial Napoli shot, which I'm still flabbergasted at till this day, which if we drew or lost, we wouldn't have won the Champions League, that same season. And I don't need to say anything in regards to Virgil; he's not just a Rolls Royce, he's a Lamborghini, Porsche, Ranger and Land Rover, Mercedes. BMW and other prestigious motoring companies, mixed into one; Maldini said "he'll be the best ever defender", and other centre backs would verify and agree with him. Alisson and Virgil, to this day, is in my opinion, the best signings we've made in the Premier League. Also, the playmaking abilities of Coutinho hadn't probably been replaced, I thought we've merely transitioned, then Thiago came in and the rest is history, I don't think I've seen a better player than Thiago ever in a Liverpool shirt, and yes I'm including Suarez. Now to the other 'big' players leaving in Can and Wijnaldum, I personally thought Can was our best central midfielder we had at the time and Wijnaldum, though we had replaced him, was still a major loss, but yet again I had my doubts on them leaving, we've improved collectively and inclusively. Can is playing with Dortmund and Wijnaldum is struggling to make the PSG team. Whereas Pep, although he's utterly world class, would buy players, on big sums of cash and wages, and wouldn't replace them. Like we saw him splashing £50m on fullbacks and a Chilean goalkeeper, in which he didn't sell him when he bought Ederson. That's why Klopp came from the rubble, he's created a team full of warriors, who would die for the cause, and if one player doesn't show the gegenpressing and hard rock style of play, then he's gone, but that's the thing, non of the players integrated into the squad show any sign of fragility and lack of discipline. I can agree with what Lineker said, I don't think we're ever going to get over Klopp leaving, may be not ever, Klopp's changed our mindset and our determination to win. I thought Dortmund, when they gave him a big send off, was unnecessarily overpowering, seeing as they finished in a low position that season, but I can humbly admit, I take my hat off to Dortmund supporters, and I was wrong. There probably won't be another man, not even generational managers, who've not been born yet, who could achieve what he's achieved at Liverpool.

I really rate Guardiola. I think he's underachieved in regards to the Champions League, but there are a very small number of occasions where City or Bayern played really poorly whilst he was there. I don't think he needs to prove he can do it at a club with a smaller budget, but I genuinely believe he'd exceed expectations. I think he's a football genius in the truest sense, and is one of the greatest managers of all time. But with all that being said, I'd still just about go for Klopp. He's produced more than any Liverpool fan dreamed of expecting before he took over. The club had that 'dismal' sort of feeling before he took over, and he's transformed them into a team that's been setting records. Almost every single player that has played under him has gotten better under his leadership, and he's just a fun guy to watch on the sidelines and after the games fist-bumping the crowd, and gives great interviews...there's everything to like about this guy and that is why I think he slightly edges it for me.

For me it's obviously Klopp. Don't get me wrong, Pep is an amazing manager. However, he hasn't really shown us what he can do when it's a club that can't offer players whatever they want in wages. Like they said, Man City already had changed and brought in big name players and won the league under Pellegrini and Mancini. So we knew the players were there and were able to win titles. Yes, he made the team better and swapped out players but I still need to see Pep really challenging himself. Try Everton and see how that works out. Klopp arrived at a club that hadn't won the league in 25 years and started building his team. Bringing in cheaper options when selling the star players. Now won every trophy he can with this team and they are still going.

Please explain to me who the big name players Pep has brought in? I’m tire of hearing this, Mahrez was probably the only established star Pep bought since coming to City. My point is more that Pep points and says "I want that player! Make it happen!" and they bring in the player at nearly any cost. If it doesn't work out then nevermind. They go again. Both incredible manager's, and despite maybe being biased as a Liverpool fan, I'd say the achievements of Klopp are probably greater. Guardiola is as good a coach, I don't think you could split the two on that, but in terms of the scale of their achievements it would be Klopp for the following reasons: 1. Klopp won 2 Bundesliga titles with Dortmund in a league where their wealth was dwarfed by Bayern. Dortmund have not won the league since he left. Bayern kept taking Klopp's best players - Lewandowski, Gotze etc. 2. Klopp took over Liverpool at a time when we were very average. Our squad in 2015 was poor. Pep took over at City when they'd already had fortunes spent on it and were littered with world class players. Klopp has then won the title against City - who have over the course of the last 7-10 years - spent far more than Liverpool, and run them close and lost by a single point the season before (and could lose again by a single point this season unless Villa do a job on City on the final day). 3. Klopp has won the Champions League at Liverpool, Pep has not done so yet at City. At the end of the day, this isn't really a criticism of Pep, he is an unbelievable manager and has changed how football is played, but if we are simply talking about the scale of their respective achievements, I'd have to say it's Klopp. In Germany he faced the wealth and might of Bayern, and overturned that and in England he's faced the superior wealth of City, Utd and Chelsea and overturned all of them too,

To conduct a fair experiment, you have to keep everything else constant and have one variable. Let's just say Pep and Klopp took turns to manage all 20 EPL teams, and you ran the league over and over again, and averaged the points. I think Klopp would have the better results. Even if you could argue that Pep would do better at City, it's hard to argue that he would do better at Watford or Wolves. Any manager can go to a PSG and City to win trophies. But how many managers can go to a Mainz and win a promotion to top flight or a Dortmund and win back to back titles against a dominant Bayern Munich or a Liverpool, that has to carry the burden of 30 years without a league title and in the process transforming doubters to believers? If you look at Klopp and his connection between his previous clubs, the fans and the city. There is a real bond. At Mainz and Dortmund, the farewell that the club and city gave him was emotional as fans were shedding tears. It was raw and you rarely get to see that in todays game. So on a human connection level, Klopp is just unbelievable and that is a very important quality for a manager. In terms of success, Klopp could have gone for the easier route and perhaps win a lot of trophies but he didn’t. Regarding Bayern Munich tried to sign Klopp multiple times and Klopp said, “That's completely fine. The world is not full of winners, the world is full of triers hopefully. And I try and sometimes I win with some other people together. I am happy with that.”

Ake played LB and has done the job, he played in UCL QF as a LB against ATM and City got a away clean sheet with him . John Stones coveres as a right back , have seen the 4-3 at the Etihad , City v Madrid .Who played RB ? John Stones and later Fernandinho. I can give u more and more examples . One last example the 100 points season 17/18 CITYs LB , can u name him . It's Fabian Delph mate , a mid filder and we took 100 points with him playing LB . Klopp is great no arguments there . Whenever this argument is made, the state of the Liverpool team Klopp took over is completely understated and the state of the City team Pep took over is completely overstated. There is a nuance used to describe the situation at Liverpool that is missing entirely when describing the situation Pep walked into. For example, Klopp factually took charge of Liverpool just 16 months after Liverpool lost the title on the final day. Yet, the agreed narrative is that he took over a struggling team and built them up to arguably being one of the greatest sides of the modern era. There's no issue with that narrative per se because there are a lot of nuances - for example, Liverpool struggled in Rodgers final season and lost Suarez and Sturridge, etc. However, the issue lies in the fact that no nuance is applied to describing the City team that Pep inherited. For example, Pep inherited a team that actually only finished 6 points above the Rodgers/Klopp team of 2015/2016. The season before that, City finished 17 points above Rodger's Liverpool, but 11 of the 17 points difference occurred in the final 5 games - when Liverpool was practically on the beach. City won their last 5 games, with Liverpool losing 3 and drawing 1 of their last 5. The team that Pep inherited actually finished level on points and GD with LVG's United side - only scraping 4th on goals scored. They finished just 3 points above Southampton and 4 above West Ham on just 66 points - the same total Arteta's Arsenal have hit this season with 1 game to spare, and 34 points less than the City side Pep led to the title in 17/18. The team Pep inherited didn't win back to back PL games between the end of October - May and was one of (if not THE) oldest squads in the league. I know net spend often gets branded around when discussing a Klopp vs Pep comparison, but it's such a lazy argument. Both managers walked into teams brimming with deadwood. The only difference is, Klopp's deadwood had tremendous resale value (Ibe - £15m, Allen £13m, Benteke £32m, Sakho £26m, Solanke £24m, Ings £20m, Brewster £23m etc) and Pep's didn't - largely because the likes of Sagna, Zabaleta, Clichy, Kolarov, Yaya, Fernando etc were all the wrong side of 30 with little to no time left on contracts. Klopp's situation is also somewhat helped out by Barcelona's mind-boggling decision to spend £142m on a player who arguably didn't fit into Klopp's tactical system anyway. It's not as though it was Klopp even doing the negotiating - it's not Premier Manager 98 ffs. The credit here goes to Michael Edwards, who somehow managed to make multiple clubs pay through the nose for absolute dross. And lastly, let's not forget, Klopp's Liverpool only became successful after breaking transfer records for a keeper and CB. It's not as though he coached Mignolet and Sakho into being world-beaters. Anyway, both are tremendous coaches who have done tremendous things.

Both are good in their own way Pep is good at managing stars, bringing in and managing his dominant possession soccer and guaranteeing league titles from the start Means Pep goes higher and comes faster to success but also has more pressure to deliver at the beginning because he comes over the prerequisites (existing team, money input) and tactics. Klopp is good to create a strong collective and a bond between fans, club and supporters and to achieve success through family feeling and mentality Means Klopp gets deeper and more fundamental into the DNA of the club and its environment, takes longer and does not guarantee you immediate success An emotional environment inspires but his underdog . never give up and Working Class Hero Family approach Both would be successful in the opposite approach, but not as successful because they would be deprived of their individual strengths,

@@aAaronbavl Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Gomez, Kimmich, Boeteng, Muller, and Kroos vs Gotze, Hummels, and Gundo. Only Hummels started for Germany in their WC run for Dortmund. In England City have Sterling, Foden, Grealish, Stones, and Walker to TAA and Henderson for Liverpool. Give me a break. Nothing to say about Spain dominating with all three of Barca’s midfielders, Pique, Villa, Pedro? England haven’t done anything in international football for 50+ years, Pep gets ahold of that spine and they reach a WC semi and a Euro final. Seems like a weird coincidence to happen three different times in three countries back to back to back. But okay live in denial.

A good point i recently heard about pep, when he took over at BCN he was taking over BCN, not Birmingham city or even Porto. Liverpool were a team that were completely inconsistent until klopp came in. It was a harder job what klopp done twice with Dortmund and now with Liverpool

thats not a good point for saying if one is better or not, yes its harder. but u cant blame someone for going to the best teams possible. that's like saying if messi and ronaldo are so good why don't they go play for seville or Newcastle.

@@oliverread1060 lmao yes united is a mid table team, we can agree on that, but for sure its not a challenge or a small team. doesn't mean he's better or worse than Messi, just means he took a different path. Im not saying klopp is better or worse, i think they are on the same level, but just different styles and different traits. Just saying that point that common opinion is not the best argument.

People forget that this is Klopp's best work yet. What he has done in Liverpool easily overshadows Pep's work in City. With the amount he got to spent and the way he changed the whole dynamic of the club, in such a short time is unbelievable. But Pep's best have been in Barca. What he achieved there will never be reached. In terms of quality and beauty it will remain unmatched for a long time.

Pep is the GOAT. It's fascinating how high the standards for Pep are, but then again, he's set them, he's the Messi of managers. People talk about money but you have wealthy teams like PSG, Chelsea, Man United who can't keep up hence they keep changing managers.

Klopp is a top coach without question, but Guardiola is a genius. He changed football around the world, attractive in attack, changing position, incredible high last line. He wonts to win with outstanding football. Just winning is not enough for him. Liverpool won against Tottenham in the Champions League final with about 35% possession. Pep would lose before he played like that. If he cared only about winning, he would win even more than he has already won. But he wants to win with his style, and that is often very risky especially in the ChampionsLeague..,again, you to anderstand!

I really like them both a lot , for Man City, it's very sad that they have not won the champions league yet, i believe it's a curse as they have been the favorite to win it for the past 6 years (this is CRAZY). i have never enjoyed watching a team play beautiful football as much as Man City's way of playing and that's Pep's way. . on the other hand, for Liverpool, it's all about Klopp, two things amaze me the most about Klopp , first one is that how he is capable of putting an extreme hunger in his team which makes them unstoppable (they can go undefeated all season long WOW). second thing amazes me about him is that every player he buys just fits right in his system like the first seaosn which CRAZY and UNBELIEVABLE
