Code Geass R3 has left a lot fans speculating about various details on Lelouch's possible revival and what Lelouch might be planning. In this week's video, Zero shares his predictions and theories to those very questions and for the plot of R3. There isn't too much to go off outside of the trailer and other speculation, but he just wants to get his guesses out there so he can yell "Called it!" in the inevitable Code Geass R3 watchalong.

Do you think Lelouch just choose the name Zero for no reason at all? I got the Theory that he choose the name Zero since it has the same meaning in Japan and English. Both mean 0 but japanese also have another word for 0 (rei). It would be the perfect name for an english man who wants to fight undercover to free Japan.

Maybe Jeremiah will accidentally use the Canceller on Schneizel, LOL, oops, FLEIJA all over again, and he had the plan to rule through fear so maybe he caused all the bombings here and there. BUT since he already had his time as a villain, I don't think they will make him a villain again. Still, the most interegin part I found the trailer was that Jeremiah appears to be electrocuted, his body is made of metal, so maybe he will have a key role in the S3's story, especially when he learns Lelouch killed Marianne (the one he's been most loyal to). Idk, just saying.

I do think the main villian of R3 will be a code bearer/geass user. I don't think lelouch has gone on a quest to remove all code/geass uses. I feel like he is the type of character that does get bored easily but not the type of character that would risk himself being seen since he is supposed to be dead. I also believe that lelouch would rather enjoy the peaceful world he created and only be brought back if there was someone threatening the world he spent so long creating. I do believe that zero is going to be used to draw out lelouch though. I also believe that this new villian is such a threat that suzaku is forced to find lelouch after finding out he's alive. I believe that this would be the case because of how suzaku doesn't agree with the way lelouch does things and would rather try and short things out himself as well as the fact that lelouch intrusted him to.

@@paradox1414 but this is a comment section about R3 though... the version where lelouch was alive and originally R3 and the movies were supposed to be one in the same. My guess was also basically correct. You can say "lelouch is dead" or "lelouch is alive" and both being correct but in this specific context, you are most definitely wrong because he is alive otherwise there wouldn't be R3

When I watch reactions to Code Geass, especially the end, no one ever seems to pick up on the fact that Jeremiah and Anya are working on an orange farm, one of the options given to him when he was told that he'd have to start over as a pilot.

The authors of Code Geass knew all along that Lelouch wasn't gonna die, and they laid out the story to make sense when he appears again in S3. (e.g Charles grabbing Lelouch by the neck and Charles stealing VV code) Theories of Lelouch not dying started right after the end of R2. If the authors intended to have Lelouch die, they would have laid the story differently!

There are a couple of things that could convince Lelouch to come into the public face again, such as Zero Requiem failing (making him come out to create a new solution), ZR being exposed (and/or his survival being exposed), a Geass/Code wielder taking over as the 'true heir of Zero's legacy' (since Suzaku serves the Britannian Empress after Zero's campaign being fought against Britannia), the Collective Unconscious taking action to remove Geass from humanity by removing humanity itself (Leila's conversation with the CU's representative in Akito the Exiled), Nunnally being killed (unlikely - I don't see her dying at all, and if so it would be in Lelouch's presence to have proper narrative weight - but it still would send him into a flying rage and set him down a Roaring Rampage of Revenge) or some other personal issue in the public view.

Hm, if I had to pick... New!Zero. But only if C.C. convinced him or Suzaku came to him directly - whatever he's up to now would probably take precedence at first, and he would trust Suzaku to take care of it, but it would take a lot for Suzaku to ask for Lelouch's help. The whole Euphemia business, plus keeping Lelouch secret (assuming he knows) would probably make him hesitant to do so, but he has shown the ability to set aside his differences and work with Lelouch when necessary.

Honestly one of the most likely enemies would be a Code Bearer who wants to continue spreading Geass despite what Lelouch wants. Even if Lelouch has Geass, a Code Bearer is immune to that power and if he has a Code, he can't just take their Code. It's implied there is a method for a Code Bearer to steal another Code, but it's unlikely that Lelouch would know how (and part of things could be trying to figure out how to steal a Code). The Fake Zero theory also lets the enemy impact the peaceful world through Schneizel, who is order to "obey Zero". So he ends up following two different Zeroes and possibly starts showing the willpower to actively choose which Zero to follow, gaining some control of his Geass. And considering things, he would likely side with the Fake Zero over Suzaku Zero.

Have you seen Akito The Exiled? I haven't finished it myself yet, but I've seen enough to know that it takes place between R1 and R2 before they messed with Lelouch's memories regarding his younger sibling, and gives us some insight as to what they were doing with Lelouch in that time. Anyway, I bring it up because I could see that as a potential source new conflict, foes, and allies in R3. I would be interested to see your take on how the events of Akito the Exiled could potentially tie into the overarching Main story and upcoming R3.

There are many possibilities for the villain. I always envisioned a scenario that, after Nunnally got the throne there would have been an uprising of loyalists of the old regime and most likely close followers of Charles who also worked on the Geass Order, and what would have followed would have been a kind of civil war. And maybe the villain would have been the leader of this uprising and would have possessed a geass like through experimentations of the Geass order. I also wander why nobody is mentioning Akito the Exiled, because that OVA brought a bit of new stuff in the Code Geass lore, if you think about it. We know from that OVA that there are higher beings that are above the Code bearers and probably since Lelouch tries to destroy Geass, some of those beings would try to stop this, by orchestrating something that can provoke Lelouch to come back.

Cornelia is a possible villain. She lost everything including the possibility to get revenge for her sister. She attempted to regain power by trying a rebellion but even that was ruined by the zero reqiuem. She could potentially undo all of Zero's efforts and why wouldn't she?

1:35 - 1:40 Thats exactly what I think he did. He left the place with 3 GUARDIANS, and he set each one up, Suzaku/zero, the prince, and Nonali, alowing her to shape the world into a better place, just like she wished, as well as keeping the world protected with the price as strategist, Zero as well, Zero, the leader In battle. The camel scene has Lelouch and C-2 after R2, right? I think that is him leaving Japan, (or at least exploring outside of a throne) and if something or someone does something that overpowers 3 the guardians (Maybe not defeating them, but having the upper hand) this would explain the mask washed ashore, damaged by the enemy forces. This forces Lelouch, the legend to return, whether masked or unmasked it is still, a revival of the hero, whether it is Zero, or lelouch himself What do you think? Could you explore this? Anyone else have something to say?

I think it'd be neat if someone masquerading as Zero ended up being the antagonist. I mean, Zero is definitely a lot more agile than Lelouch in the PV, and we technically haven't seen him in costume yet.

I want to see this third series set a dozen years after the end of R2. Lelouch realizes that the peace is starting to crumble and Suzuki is starting to lose his way. So, he resurfaces as a full-on villain with the goal of reuniting everyone against him - but that Geass in his eyes eventually pushes him into real evil.

My theory is that Anya is Nunnally's twin sister. Their birthdays are only one day apart. Charles erased Anya's Lelouch's and Nunnally's memories of Anya being their sibling for whatever reason...

I have really enjoyed Code Geass as well as R2, I believe the ending wrapping everything up was well done. So do we really need another one? I am exited to see R3 but I am just a bit worried that this may leave unanswered questions later on if they are thinking of R4 and so forth and are unable to deliver. Thier are a few of Unfinished or unsatisfying Anime endings, witch is why I bring up this question.

What if the Villian is the Geass user from the 5 Part Movie series? I can’t remember his name but he was a Geass user too. His Geass could over write others minds and fight to the death. He would be the ultimate counter to Suzaku and would be the perfect weapon to insight war in a time of true peace. And Orange would be his first target. Also this Geass user is a friend to the EU. The EU would make for a perfect example of a hostile force. They were never mentioned in the original anime and would never be considered a threat. In that scene from the trailer he’s standing a sea filled with flamingos. That could be his death or the Death Geass taking hold of him.

It's been 3 years now and no r3. I think resurrection is not the r3 it's just a sequel since Shirley is alive there. I think the possible enemies in r3 are another countries, terrorist or code and geass users since code and geass users is the root why this all happened from the start. At some point we need to know where code and geass are really originate and we need to see Lelouch and CC to destroy it. Though it will remove immortality and powers of both of them but they can lived happily. I love Lelouch and CC💕

Hey i loved your theory and subscribed but it didn't quite convince me, this theory contradicts the zero requiem, the idea was to end all conflicts so it wouldn't make much sense for lelouch to start one. Again great theory but it has a lot of holes

I think this is a pretty good criticism, but personally, I think Lelouch has learned from experience that a Geass user can really terrorize the world, so removing Geass from the world can actually be viewed as a measure to protect world peace. -Zero

I think that the point of the zero requiem was to set up global geopolitical stability, which could be further developed by genuinely competent and moral leadership, having code bearers and geass users roaming about, would be a potential wild card which could destabilize the new era lelouch laboured to dawn. So the basic concept seems solid enough.

Kato well maybe, but if he really wanted to exterminate all geass users he would have done it before dying (at this point we don't even know if lelouch knew he had the code) so that he doesn't disturb world peace . And besides geass users aren't that dangerous, their has been many geass users but only lelouch and his father were ambitious enough to make change by using their power, all of the other geass users we know about were after personal dreams (be loved, be with CC...). So in conclusion geass users shouldn't be that big and they are lelouch would have tracked them down before he orders his "death".

what if ledouche fufills cc's dream, kills her, gets 2 codes, and with that insane powers turning him into a demon. i am thinking something like elaine from genocyber. lelouch then loses is mind, starts giving geass powers to unsuspected people turning them into demonic minions. After assembling his demonic army lelouch would then try to conquer the world To fight this new threat the brittanian military would team up with the black knights with kallen and suzaku working together.

The creators have always OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED that LELOUCH IS DEAD. There's interviews, tweets, the official guide book, they even completely remade the epilogue on the blu-ray. On top of that code theory has been debunked for years. And the sequel is even called "Lelouch of the RESURRECTION"! There is a problem with " Zero " being the antagonist . Suzaku becomes Zero and is seen serving Nunnally . He would not be able to leave her side much or for long . He also needs to keep Prince Schniezel in check ( Leleouch orders him to obey Zero not necessarily Lelouch ), My question is Why is Suzaku not dressed as Zero in the trailer. He is supposed to be dead to the public . Killed by Kallen though she knows the truth . If Suzaku is shown alive to the public it throws alot of the zero requiem plan out the window. The whole plan counted on his " death " and Lelouches . Edit : I know you are going with the idea of a frame job but the Britannian government would easily say its an impostor hes been with Nunnally the whole time .

The scenario I was talking about in this video would be one where people assume that the new Zero isn't the same person as the previous people who have shown up acting as Zero, so people think it's an impostor, but it doesn't matter because Zero is a symbol. -Zero

Edit: I feel like a dick for the wording of my original comment so here is a better one I feel it makes more sense for the (suspected terror attacks) in the video to be from that of the britannian nobles and britannian sympathisers wanting their old government back since they presumably had a nice life from exploiting other "numbers" but now that is all null and void, so they could be trying to get back some power they once held and perhaps reform some of the old government

Kato Thanks man, haha. I actually think you're a pretty cool guy so sorry for losing my temper. I also think fan interpretation is more important than author intent, but I have s pretty strong opinion here for two reasons: Firstly season three is coming out (duh) so what the creator/writer said is actually going to have an effect on what will happen in r3. Secondly (as i had said before) code theory is actually impossible for the reasons geassedbylelouch gave. That's not to say necessarily that he wont be alive, but it definitely wont be because of code theory.

What the writer actually believes will play into what happens in R3, but this wouldn't be the first time writers actually lie about their characters to subvert the audience, lol. u/GeassedByLelouch admittedly does refute the theory of Lelouch having a Code, but the theory about him possessing Code and Geass is yet to be completely refuted, imo. If you don't buy into it, that's reasonable tho. -Zero

Kato You're right that writers lie to their audiences sometimes. However, it wouldn't make any sense for them to then wait 10 years till after the hype has died down to then reveal that Lelouch is actually alive after all. It would make much more sense for them to release s3 a few months after s2 so that the hype is still there. By release i mean preview fyi The theory that lelouch has code and geass isn't necessarily wrong, but it is unfalsifiable. A good example of an unfalsifiable theory is last tuesdayism, or the idea that the universe was created last tuesday and all of our memories are artificial. Unfalsifiable theories aren't necessary wrong, but they shouldnt be taken seriously because they can't be falsified. To be taken seriously a theory needs to have evidence, which code+geass theory does not.

I talked about Last Thursdayism in one of my FMA videos, lol. Interesting coincidence. Anyway, I think there is evidence in favor of the Code Geass theory, like that old "deleted scene" of Lelouch driving the cart with C.C., or the fact that the series is called "Code Geass" in the first place. But there's evidence against it, too. Like the recent scene from one of the Code Geass movies where C.C. said Lelouch was dead. That's why I say it's fine if you don't believe in it, but I don't think it's been disproven. Also, I wouldn't say it's unfalsifiable. It'll be falsified or confirmed when R3 comes out. We just gotta wait. -Zero

You are aware that the writers said Lelouch is dead, right? You even said it yourself, R3 is called Lelouch of the RESURRECTION It's time to lay this debunked code theory to rest, if people keep pushing it it will only result in a bunch of confused and disappointed fans when they are proven wrong by R3. I can already hear the whining online. The words of the creators trump the fantasies of some fans

They didn't say that in light of R3, it was said back in the days when people had questions regarding R2. As long as R3 isn't released and retcons R2, Lelouch is canonically dead. Also, the whole code theory is full of holes and contradictions. The show itself proves the code theory wrong because it voids the cornerstone ideas of the theory.

Key elements of the theory are Lelouch giving Nunnally a vision and codes needing activation. On the reddit forum it has been proven wrong by the show. Lelouch can't give that vision to Nunnally because code bearers have no control over what they make the other one see (a rule introduced by the show itself!) and the vision are memories and random images from the one who gets the vision (again as dictated by the show itself), but the vision depicts things where Nunnally wasn't present, so it's not her memories. So it cannot be a code vision by Lelouch. This has been debated a lot on reddit and it has been shown that these are non-diegetic images. Nunnally sees nothing, there is no vision, it's just to make the audience understand that she now sees through her brother's plans. The other keystone of the theory is Charles activating his code when Lelouch geasses him and makes him kill himself. But there's no red rings around Charles's eyes, so he wasn't geassed, so he was already immune to geass, so the whole "activation" idea falls to pieces. That means Lelouch, if he had the code, shouldn't be able to use his geass anymore after the episode he "stole" the code, but he still does. So it all falls to pieces. Lelouch can not have the code. The code theory regularly gets talked about on reddit and it gets completely shredded.

I think you're mistaken. I'm not suggesting that Lelouch simply possesses a Code. I don't even believe the Code needs activation. My theory is that, after "killing" Charles, Lelouch gained his Code, but also retained his contract with C.C., allowing him to keep his Geass, so he possesses both Code and Geass simultaneously. In that case, neither Nunnally's vision, nor the Code needing activation are necessary parts of the theory.
