Years ago I was the leader of a 4-H club in the north east. We always stressed the importance of good feet and legs and the kids couldn’t understand why. Looking at how heavy your cows look and how sparse the grass appears to be. I wish I could have shown them this. I’m guessing your horses are easy keepers too. They always look very good considering they are giving half of what they eat away. We kept Charolais on probably an acre or less per pair for the summer. Quite a difference.

Danielle, most people who ask how many cows you have don’t know that asking a question like that (I was guilty also of this, had no clue) is the same as asking……”How much money do you have in the bank” it’s a highly personal question. (When I had that pointed out to me….I couldn’t believe how naive I was, oh heck, I just recently found out so many truths, I wish I didn’t know.)

I firmly believe that about every oerformance horse can benefit from ranch work. It settles their mind and if not they need a dif job...A good minded horse will benefit! Ghost is a prime example! He really turns those barrels nice!! I follow Tim Anderson. He may not have a ranch but he does work with some cattle. He gets some nice horses in and a wide variety of breeds. Specializes and shows working cow horses.

Danielle, you do a really good job of knowing what to film. The little snippet of your shadow while you were riding was just cool. I have been watching you guys for about a year, maybe more, and each of your videos has a quality that’s likely not noticed by everyone. That quality is your eye. You see the things that we want to see, and you get them on film. Not only that, but the video and audio is good quality Most of the time. (Not even Danielle can control the wind) I suspect that you do a good bit of editing? One of these days I’m going to contact you guys about getting a Blue Star McKeeg colt from you. Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to make these Quality videos. You have a good eye.

Love the comment about not talking about how many head of cattle you have. I live in SD and not by the big ranches up north and out west. A couple of years ago I sold a filly to a big rancher up North West SD. I asked him how many head of cattle he had. He told me and it was very significant. I told someone about it and they said you didn't ask him how many cattle he ran. I said yes and he told me. The person said you do not ask ranchers how many cattle they run. :)

Do people who buy your weanlings usually visit the ranch to "meet" the weanlings they're interested to select one or do they usually buy based only on Jerry's postings? Just wondering how works given so many of your horses go out of state. Thanks!
@PaintedDesertRanch
@PaintedDesertRanch 7 ай бұрын
Yes, people can come out BUT we need more than a couple hours notice 😂 it’s not a very easy task for us to have to round up horses, separate out a few foals from almost 100 horses, halter, and haul them into headquarters, show them, AND haul them all the way back. We appreciate SEROIUS buyers. A lot of communication with buyers is done through the phone- we are happy to send pictures and short videos and answer whatever questions buyers may have.
