There is a ton of evidence throughout Samurai Champloo that points towards a canon subtle romance between Mugen and Fuu, especially with Episode 20's dialogue where Sara says "It's as if you have never been loved by anyone" and then Fuu throws her life in the way to save him two seconds later to prove her wrong. The same can be said when eyepatch guy says "Are you really willing to throw your life away for a woman?!" after Mugen gives up his sword for her in ep 25. Even the romantic beat that starts at that scene is titled "Your Purpose". and has the one lyric of "you". Fuu is his purpose. Then there is how the whole anime is a giant redemption story for Mugen, where the black supernatural figures (Miyakoan Gods called Paantu who purify evil) chase after him in two instances where he faces his past and the bad things he did in the Ryukyus (Ep 14 and Ep26) But Fuu, the sweet girl he tries to save in every ep, is the one who pulls him back from the brink of death. She makes him a man. A hero. Mugen and Fuu also foil Jin and Shino, with him trying to save her from a brothel too, in episode 4 (but she escapes before he can). Hell, in Ep 18, he entered the graffiti contest and wrote his infinity symbol, thinking the winner of the contest "wins fuu" because she told him two twin brothers were vying for her affections with the contest. (But it was actually Momo they wanted LOL) Only Jin ever realized he won it xD Literally could go on and on about it for hours, theres so much proof, and can be found in nearly every episode. But again, its subtle.

@@Gokuvsnaruto22 Just another recommendation but the rap done by Wamu's Gang as human society seems to be falling, I do not know the title but it is just an rap that Wamu's Gang performs and how later on in the anime they side up with the Devilman.
