Wrestling exhausts so much energy when you’re grappling though, either up against the fence or on the ground. If he does manage to get Izzy down he probably would’ve been gasssed after the first round and wouldn’t have had the legs or arms to last a 5 round fight. Also, he’s probably actually 50 years old instead of 43. If you go by the Cuban to America athlete equation lol. These guys come over with no birth certificate so it’s anybody’s guess as to their real age. Having said that, Romero could pass for early 30’s with his stature. He’s a freak of nature. Cuban athletes are complete wildcards lol.

Even worse is that in the second round Yoel stumbled Israel with a leg kick and pursued him to the fence with strikes. This was the perfect moment for Yoel to close the distance and negate the range and movement of Adesanya. From what I remember, Yoel was countering Izzy’s forward pressure, which was usually a front kick or round kick of some sort, by punishing him with that overhand right. If someone is standing in front of you, not moving and just covering their face, the logical thing is to attack the legs and body with kicks. Especially if you're the taller fighter. Yoel's gameplan was to literally stand there and catch him with a huge overhand right. He caught Izzy with it the first round and that's when Izzy realized that's all Yoel will be doing the entire fight. So Izzy strikes from the outside If you're trying to counter with an overhand right, the way Yoel did it is not the way. You set it up with jabs, leg kicks, feints, movements. Yoel did none of this. Just waiting for the overhand Right or just bum rushing and hoping for the best. Every Striker knows that Izzy would just attack from the outside with a gameplan like Yoels Yoel was trying to make Izzy make a mistake and attack a defense shell and Izzy did the first round and didn't after

When Yoel tried to fight he ran, when Yoel waited for Izzy to come at him he wouldnt do it. He wanted to stay on the outside and pop leg kicks. but for 5 rounds straight? he had to know he was down by the 4th or 5th round, like what was his team telling him? If he really thought Adesanya would walk into and explosion or deadly punch while he just stands there with a guard up like the first round, he is crazy or like you said he just doesn't care that much.

yeah and izzy wanted to fight HIS own fight (counter punching) izzy has only ever been deadly when people run straight to him lunge in with big power shots so he can counter.. he didn't want to get into it with Yoel, even after saying for months on end how he wants to FINISH this guy and beat him up like no one else ever has.. absolute pussy, lost all respect for izzy after that.

The Lonesome Wanderer for Izzy ? Wow romero was camping trying to get his bomb off. Why the fuck would you walk into a bomb? Romero set the tone from the beginning of the fight and you know that

Yoel is a sloth. Needed to adjust his gameplan. Pro wrestler?! Izzy did what he had too win against a guy trying to keep his energy so he didn’t get knocked. That fear of Yoel is being the real pussy

Izzy didn't want anything to do with yoel after he felt that first shot amd realized he was the inferior fighter.
@aspockworkorange4 жыл бұрын
Jordan Aleksandre how does that make him inferior...? If he was inferior he’d just stand and trade with a heavy power puncher like an idiot. Izzy has always been a counter striker. We had a boring fight because Yoel decided to counter strike against a counter striker. He’s not inferior, just has a different style of fighting than Yoel. What an ignorant thing to say.

Archibald Maule Ramsay Its a feint. He jumps to make you think wtf is he doing and then he goes in for the kill. If you watched the fight over you will see in between his jumps he leans in to go in but stops because Adesanya puts up a defense stance to block or stuff any takedown.

Tha Imperial No he shouldn’t. If he did, it would make no sense. After Yoel hit Izzy with the overhand left in the first round, Izzy would never exchange with Yoel. Yoel was looking for the finish whole fight but Izzy was defending the finish. If Yoel charged him, Izzy would run away and use his range and length to counter Yoel. That’s how he kicked him in his head and he damaged him with the leg kicks. If Yoel pressed him, he would have gassed out and probably got finished.

This type of analysis is why Chael Sonnen, whom I disliked profusely as a fighter, is the best in the business. I have to show my respect where respect is owed and due. I dare say, in my limited “expertise” as a fan, he’s the best at providing valuable insight and razor-sharp analysis - in a way that is both informative and enjoyable. Well done.

@cinegraphics4 жыл бұрын
This fight was decided before they even booked hotel rooms for the fighters. It was decided that Romero will lose. The only reason Romero was so pissed off is because the match was boring, since Adesanya showed nothing. Romero did what he could (within the limitation that he wasn't allowed to win) while Adesanya who had no limitations, and was allowed to do whatever he wanted, showed nothing. Romero is only satisfied if the audience is satisfied, whether he won or lose. If audience is bored to death, Romero is pissed off.

Women's fight was real. Israel's fight was rigged. That's why one was so interesting, the other so boring. But if Izzy was a true champ, he could have made the match more interesting. I have a feeling the managers didn't tell Izzy that the match was rigged. So he was truly afraid that Romero would knock him out. If only he knew...

I scored for Izzy because Romero showed NO agression or control. He didn't initiate exchanges. Izzy did all of that, however he did it. Octagon control isn't standing in the middle being stationary; you have to EXERT control of the Octagon.
