I am working as a central govt employee for the past 7 years. I can reflect to what he is saying. What he says is absolutely true. In my department, there is little to no promotion. To get a promotion, it is estimated that I need to wait for another 15 years to get one single promotion. One will surely get demotivated if this happens during service. It is a disaster if you have all the skills in the world. I am very good at programming. After getting a campus placement, I was longing to work in the IT company. But my parents forced me to join govt service as they were govt servants. As soon as I joined the service, they forced again for my marriage. Now, after 7 years, having a family of 2 children and wife, I am unable to leave the govt job. For all my young friends, please don't join govt service. It is a boring job with little to no creativity. Do something else. You may struggle in the beginning. You may even fail to reach somewhere. Atleast there is a chance that you may succeed in other endeavours. Best of luck

Absolutely correct, I am ex. Govt employee in judiciary department but in 2022 I resigned , just because of no sense of achievement I realised later that i am not fit in this environment , my decision was very hard and now i started my own business , yes i am struggling , making small profit ( three time more than my salary) but i am happy . Work on yourself stay hard and believe in yourself that you can do it , society will always reward you if you are in govt service or business or private service , your primary goal should be to live life with happiness. Very good way of reducing competition. Wards of civil servants will crack jobs as their parents will share their strategies and provide best guidance and tuition. You keep repenting after getting laid off. Then someone will come and criticize your decision and give more clarity. Survival is important, respect, status is secondary. Since we have not faced famines lately we got complacent. That's why following passion became the trend until covid came. In reality we only need to fulfill our duties and make our parents happy. 😅

There are certain points we all can agree but what about the cost of salary in private sector you are getting. Are you mentally satisfied, does money only matters or mental peace, satisfaction, family & personal time. & We can't only focus on UPSC as Govt job. Yes job security is the most you get from it no matter how much top position are in private sector. Its all subjective choice what you want. Its all about risk & reward. What's the guarantee you will get good salary & hikes apart from some IT sector pay packages. Atleast in government sector certain norms & regulations are followed. Being an assistant professor in Pvt sector in Delhi i can say a lesser pay package in Govt sector i would wish to switch anytime. My colleague switched to Govt from associate to assistant & with lesser pay than he was getting in Pvt college.Apart from few organisations rest all pvt sector is not bad its just pathetic. So anytime you get an opportunity go for it & make your life meaningful & stable.

I can strongly relate to this election wali baat, my father is a Grade A officer in Bihar Administrative Services(BAS), avi election ke lie preparation chal rhi inspection and all toh wo subah 7-8 baje ghar se nikalte hai aur 7-8 baje aate hai aur ghar aane ke baad v various kinds of meeting/call attend karne padte hai and it's kind of same for every employee no matter which department they come from.

I am a 2015 batch engineering graduate and worked in IT sector for 2 years. Then i left my IT job and started preparing for Government exams. Now i am working in a Central Government department and i am not even a bit happy in this job. I think getting into government job was the worst decision i have ever made. Security in Government jobs is a myth. Most young officers are randomly and frequently transferred to rural far away places. In my department 53 year old Group A employee got transferred when his younger daughter was appearing for 12th. Grievances just fall on deaf years and you get repeated Memo for not reporting. Plus salary and increment is a joke compared to Private sector. A lot of departments have increased working hours. And job is skill less and monotonous. Its better to work for few years in Private sector gain skills and then move abroad or start you own business.

I met 1000+ govt job people in my organization and all are happy. But then my organization is 1% of all govt jobs. So sir is right. But i feel really lucky.❤

Everything is true but the important thing is getting a job now. Competition is up to neck still weather a gov. Or private job is need of the hour for most of the young population. The most accurate advice is to get a job anyhow, sidewise create some skills relevant to the market. First, create capital then invest that capital to gain a small enterprise. A job experience then an entrepreneur is the thing that can complete your all dreams.
