Hardeep Singh Nijjar was a pro-Khalistan activist and the president of a Sikh temple in Surrey, B.C. His day job was working as a plumber. For years, the Indian government called him a terrorist - a claim Nijjar repeatedly denied. So, who was Nijjar, and why did India think he was such a danger?

Leave Islam.. it's a foreign ideology. Not match with Indian soil and Indian traditions. Sikhism is pure Indian. Hindus go to gurdwaras for worship and Sikhs in Hindu temples are common in India.

So Yoga, Kamasutra, Karma are all Hindi terms from India, would you call them - YabaGagba?? Those weapons are named in Hindi for generals nouns, not from a religion perspective. Sometimes they are named after people who head the project or after prime ministers. The US is ruled by Jews, you do not see Jewish religious names in their weapons? Prithvi, Agni, prahar, astra, nirbhay, and other weapons are named in Hindi (for earth, fire, assault, weaponry, fearless respectively) NOT after personalities. Would also be called same by Sikhs (as in Gurmukhi) What weapons are you referring to? Seems like you have limited knowledge of what is religious and what is cultural. @@zahirshah22

I once had a chance to visit Golden Temple and it was an experience that is unforgettable I am a Muslim but in no way did I feel alienated or something I saw people of many other religion inside Golden Temple and the vibe was so peaceful u get the true meaning of being in India a land that respects all religion..!!!

Nijjar was a great plumber... Once, I had a blockage in my sink, and a friend recommended him to me. To my surprise, Nijjar showed up at my house with a toolbox full of the most unconventional tools I'd ever seen. He had a flamethrower, a chainsaw, a Russian assault rifle, an RPG and even a pneumatic cannon. I asked him why he needed such dangerous tools, and he said, "For tough jobs, you need tough tools." He fixed the blockage in seconds, but unfortunately, I lost my house in the process. So now I'm homeless. But anyway, RIP Nijjar, human rights activist and part-time plumber.

Why are supposedly Western secular democracies supporting the creation of an ethno-religious state in Khalistan? India is a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-religious nation and of course there will always be disagreements among our citizens. These disagreements are part of our national conversation. But every community in India has a shared understanding that the borders of India are now fixed.

not only sikhs are a top class community in india exceeding far above average Indian per capita income . Punjab is one of the most prosperous and rich state of India . also larger part of punjab (2/3rd)went to pakistan so logically there should be more sikhs in pakistan but there percecution by Islamists have almost eradicated them current number being 8 thousand . 20 million sikhs live on Indian side .

The Khalistan concept is not a viable concept. Anyone promoting it does not understand the power dynamics of the region and can not be taken seriously at least politically. But CBC news was able to say "little investment in the state's (Punjab's) infrastructure in the following decades" -- have you checked social development indicators of states in India? Punjab is (and has always been) one of the most developed states in India, being chosen as the site for the green revolution that catapulted agricultural production and made Punjabi farmers the most prosperous in the country way before this Khalistan nonsense. I think I will not be able to confirm the details of your qualifications to be a journalist.

Canadaians should question, Why Khalistan map doesn't have a single inch of land from Punjab which is in Pakistan. After all Katarpur and Lahore was the main areas of Sikh guru and capital of Raja Ranjeet singhji. Why dont Khalistanis ask territory from Pakistan too? After all Punjab in Pakistan was the larger area among the two. Is Khalistani movement after all brain child of ISI (Pakistan), which is now being used to create a rift between India and the West bcoz of their Indo Pacific plans and to derail China.

"The Authority or Jurisdication to make laws is divided between the parliment of Canada and the PROVINCIAL legislatures" On the other hand Laws in India all federal states and unions are ruled by the National Government!! Punjab has amongst the highest funding from central govt. after Independence. It has only declined in last 2 decades, only because it has far surpassed India's average, i know that state's political leadership has failed to turn the income towards industrialisation of state, but that is state's failure not India's.

India has been sending students abroad in substantial numbers since the 2000s, primarily because the talent of these students often goes unrecognized within India. TCS has been in Canada for more than 25 years. Aditya Birla, Wipro, Infosys all are there The Western countries offer opportunities for students to pursue the life they desire.
