A lot of esoteric symbolism in Norse mythology, specifically with Odin. He gave up his eye (the single eye) for wisdom. He hung himself from a tree to gain knowledge. Self-sacrifice and facing one's demons (literally or figuratively) is something humans all have to do. Also a lot of parallels to other religions as well. Fascinating stuff.

I wish people would stop calling it Norse mythology, it was a religion & THE religion of northern Europe (the netherlands, england, iceland & germany) & was replaced by christianity using evangelism & the sword. Odinism is more accurate maybe distinguished by it's nation (norse Odinism, gemanic/Britanic Odinism) & has it's roots in the beliefs of the indo-europian (Ayrian) migrants thousands of years BC & many people practiced it secretly from then till today. Christianity built a fair chunk of it's beliefs around it's holidays (christmas was Yule Easter was Eastra etc)

+Brian Brinck Nielsen well they conquered the slavs & are the result of the countries Russia & Ukraine, from the Rus, became the Varangian guard of byzantium, & are the only Vikings to create permanent nations that still stand today, Russians and Ukrainians are descended from the Swedish Rus & are some of the most feared, fierce, & powerful people to ever exist in their times. Swedish Vikings had the biggest nuts & were the only successful Vikings that actually achieved something & didn't lose it ;)

Christian Finnish Frostiis Finland's Pagan god top of the pantheon was called Ukko Yli-Jumala "Old Man The Over-God", Ukko controlled rain and thunder. We have ancient bloodline of kings that's never been proven so ALT history, kings of Finland we're decended from Ancient Giant Fornjótr the ancestor of ice giants also called "Destroyer" & "Old Giant". His sons have elements tied to em like Logi as Fire, Kári was air (it's pronoucned Kari nowdays) and Aegi / Hlér was ocean. This is the reason the line of kings is ALT history, people believe they were myths but they might have been real people or creatures

From my understanding Odin was a Greek/Gothic Chieftan whom came from Crimea around 0-150 AD. Many of the runes bear similarities to Greek characters, in addition to the Vikings having a modified version of the Phalanx tactic. Whats more, is when I go into my ancestry tree past Ragnarr Lothbrok, through his patrilineal side, Kings of Macedonia start showing up. _Alexander the Great doesnt show up, but people associated with him do._ _Also the date I gave for Odin is based off of when he shows up in ancestry trees, in conjecture with the enroaching Roman Empire._

In order to clarify this issue, I would have to write a book here, so I describe it in the short version. Odin's true name is Enki of the Anunnakis. In every culture, the leader of the people has always had different names.
@merlinjunk3603
@merlinjunk3603 10 ай бұрын
In the Egyptians he was Osiris, in India Shiva etc. He is also the one who created Adam and these Anunnakis are up to 20 meters high. After his brother killed him he came back as Horus (reincarnation) and killed him .The first gods names like Zeus was enki.Then came the other names after reincarnation like Thor.
@merlinjunk3603
@merlinjunk3603 10 ай бұрын
you have to see it that way .osiris had a son who was called horus. odin was thor, it is about reincarnation .enkis reincarnations such as julius cesar or jesus (cycle) it was where seth, brutus and jesus was es judas. there are several stories about him as he died.
@merlinjunk3603
@merlinjunk3603 10 ай бұрын
In one life he was burned and in another life his brother cut him to pieces like Osiris. Think of the freedom fighter from Scotland who was also torn to pieces by horses. He did this only ways of freedom for his people.
@merlinjunk3603
@merlinjunk3603 10 ай бұрын
he is in his last reincarnaton phase and your odin etc is right below us and will show up soon .... I also know where he is. He is where everything started the first life from which everything emanates.

In my town where I am living in, every street are named after norse gods. Frejagatan (Freyastreet), Odengatan (Odinstreet) Torsgatan (Thors street) Sleipnergatan (Sleipnerstreet) and so on. We also got many runecarvings around where I live. Battle of Lena 1208 Knut Eriksson, where in battle agains the danish. He prayed to God because swedish army where so outnumbered so they would loose the battle. There on a wonderful steed with too many legs a man that where missing his right eye came from nowhere. Started to slaughter the danish army. The king was thrilled, and when the battle was over he wanted to thank the brave man, but he had vanished. Just like he shown up. The king later understood who it was that helped them. As a christian king, he couldn't believe it. He also threatened his bodyguards with their lives if they opened their mouths to speak any of this. He was a good christian king, and this would not seen gladly at the church. The king died, and 1 years after his death, they found his diary where everything was written down. Everything in detail about the battle. So yes, it was the right eye that was missing, not the left eye. But the Edda only saying that he gave one of his eye to Mimir's well. This battle, also happened not far from the city where I am living in.

@علي يا سر You haven''t read anything of it. Odin haven't died yet. But the nornes that can see in the future are saying that he will be killed in Ragnarök. But it haven't happened yet. No ones know when it happens. Odin however didn't got killed by any grandson. The only one that had thoughts to kill Odin but didn't dare in the end was his son Loki. Instead Loki lured Baldurs brother Hoeder to take an arrow made of misteltree, the only thing that could harm Baldur, and shot him through the heart. So no, according to everything Odin still lives. The only God that walk amongst humans. The norse gods however wasn't almighty as the christian god. They where portrayed to have human flaws. So why even comment of something you haven't read at all?
@Necronomous
@Necronomous Жыл бұрын
@علي يا سر Haven't happen yet. According to the nournes Fenrir will swallow the sun and kill Odin yes. But Ragnarök haven't happen yet. Not even the nournes whom can see in the future knows when. And if so, Baldur will rise up again from his death and reign as new god over the gods. Haven't happen yet , so Ragnarök haven't happened yet. So Odin is still alive at the moment my friend. A God with no humanity in him. That doesn't work. Not for me.

As with many old oral traditions and folkloric or religious beliefs what was written down by them was written by Christians who changed or censored it to suit Christianity. It took on Christian connotations or was completely changed to suit the Christian morals and beliefs that the Christians wanted to convert people to and preach to them about. This is the case with Odin. Much of what we know about him was recorded by a Christian monk Snori Sturlosson who wrote the 'Norse' beliefs and stories down in order to try to convert pagans and some of what he wrote is not true at all. He made it up.

The Kingdom of the Norse which includes "Norway" "Sweden" and "Denmark" are very much related to the Ancient Vedic culture of India as seen in their cosmology and as seen in their pantheon of gods of which the Supreme was "Odin" whose name seems to have its source in the Ancient Sanskrit language. ~ The Norse home of the gods is Asgard which seems to be Sanskrit and the King of Asgard is "Odin" a name which is from "Woden" the Old Saxon god of the wind. "Woden" is the Indo/euro root "Wa" meaning to "blow" its source being the Sanskrit "Va" meaning to "blow" as seen in the Vedic god of the wind "Vata" and "Vayu". ~ "Woden" was originally known as the German storm god "Wode" a simple evolution as the Sanskrit "V" becomes "W" and the Sanskrit "T" becomes "D" hence the Vedic god of the wind "Vata" becomes the German god of the wind "Wode" which then becomes the Old Saxon "Woden" immortalised as "Wednesday" the day of Woden and a name which seems to become "Odin" the god of the Norse and the King of Asgard. ~ "Frigg" is the wife of "Odin" the Queen of heaven and the goddess of love, her name meaning "beloved" "loving" "wife" its source being the Sanskrit "Priya" meaning "beloved" "loving" "wife" and just as "Woden" is immortalised as "Wednesday" the goddess "Frigg" becomes "Friday". ~ "P" becoming a European "F" is a common theme which is seen in the Sanskrit "Panca" becoming "five" the Sanskrit "Pluta" becoming "float" the Sanskrit "Pitr" becoming "father" and here we find the Sanskrit "Priya" becomes the Norse goddess "Frigg". ~ And so we have "Asgard" which is Sanskrit and we have "Odin" which is related to Sanskrit and we have his wife "Frigg" which is definitely Sanskrit, all of which reflects the Sanskrit and Vedic influence upon the Ancient civilisation of the Norse. ~ "The primitive West Europeans had called the god “Wodenaz” this later developed into Wuotan (Old High German) and Wodan (Old Saxon). It is generally believed that he was first thought of as a sky deity, perhaps a wind or storm god with great wisdom and with some sort of powers over life and death." Buckland's Book of Saxon Witchcraft - Raymond Buckland. ~ "This may be evidenced by the derivation of Wodenaz from an Indo-European word, parent also of the Sanskrit vata and the Latin ventus, both meaning 'wind'. He could be compared to the Hindu Lord of the Wind, Vata, and the German storm giant Wode." - Buckland's Book of Saxon Witchcraft - Raymond Buckland. 🍀 💜✌️

Fredrick Sickelbower look for the Jungian Archetypes. It alludes to the idea of ancestral thought forms that are common in all the world. The Sky Father is one of them, Odin, Zeus, and many others fit into this thought form.

@Will Kettle People in, for example Sweden, call it by it's old name ancient custom or to more specific asatro. You can't just take a god from some other culture and make up your own religion. In the norse countries there was a belief on a godess called Freja. Half of the fallen warriors were hers. She was the first valcurie. She taught Oden seidr, magic. Which really for thought of as improper for men, ergi.
