Mark- great job as always. I have the set up you are using in the video. Retro fit flow control on the Profitec 500. For those folks who don’t want or can’t get a flow control retro fit there is another simple option. I can reproduce what you refer to as the “sweet” shot without flow control. I start the flow until the pressure reaches about 2 Barr and abruptly shut off the flow. I then wait 5-10 seconds depending on the age of the coffee and then re-establish full flow. After about 80 % of the desired volume I drop the lever so that there is gravity flow only. This corresponds to the transition from tiger striping to blonding. I would argue that the result is indistinguishable from using flow control. Thanks Pete

Hey Marc, great videos and info especially the FCD stuff. Ive learnt a lot during the lockdown so all good here in the UK. Stock flow on my ECM Synchronika was 13.2g/sec and static pressure with blind basket is 9 bar so I can see why I was having problems pulling good shots even when watching tons of stuff on KZfaq. Seems that from machine to machine this differs somewhat due to manufacturing tolerances so its a no brainer that all machines should have a FCD from stock. Otherwise all the videos and tutorials worldwide on pulling shots is null and void because those guys without the FCD have no flow standard to work to. Temps and grind is so variable when the flows uncontrollable. With my plumbed in ECM at 2bar static inlet pressure I have been recently just dialing in the grind/shot nicely with 1 1/4 turn (11.3 g/sec). My stock flow was 13.2 g/sec which i think was way too much especially when my friends machines vary between 8.5-12 g/sec. Once Ive dialed it into 1:2 ratio in around 30sec then I start to play with the FCD and I find 1/4 turn increments are way too coarse. I would say 1/16-1/18 of a turn increments is where its at.. If the FCD could be manufactured so that everything could be done within 1 turn it would be soooo much easier to remember where you are on setting when your under pressure pulling and monitoring the shot. Great videos and long may it continue..Rich, Uk

Hi Rich, Thanks for sharing with so much detail. I love that! 11g/sec is a good place to be. I've been working with some high-end Dalla Corte flow profiling machines like their Mina: www.wholelattelove.com/products/dalla-corte-mina-110v DC knows their stuff and typical max flow across their machines is ~11g/s. I noticed you mentioned your 2 bar inlet pressure. I did some testing on a Profitec Pro 700 a few weeks back comparing flow rates from reservoir and from plumbed in connection. I too had a pressure regulator set at 2 bar feeding the machine. I found no difference in flow rate between reservoir and line feed. Was fairly certain that would be the case but one must know for sure! Incidentally the Synchronika and Pro 700 are identical internally. Happy to hear you are enjoying my series of flow control videos. I'm with you, It's all about the flow! Opens up a whole new world of possibilities previously only possible on much more expensive machines. I understand one turn for full range of flow may seem easier. On the other hand, more turns does give one finer control. Thanks again for your comment. Cheers, Marc

This is a terrific tutorial on flow control, THANK YOU. Ordering a scale now. I pulled the trigger on the Profitec 400 from Whole Latte Love w/ flow control. Sacrificed PID on this model BUT trade off was flow control. After research I liked flow control as a fine control for better shots IF pressed and had to choose one, i.e. a unit w/ either PID or flow control but NOT both. Delivery later this week, will get w/ the crew if I have question about my Profitec 400 w/ flow control.

Hi Marc, I forgot to mention that when I fitted the FCD to my Synchronika, I swapped the spring as instructed. I'm using the tank so I know now the spring swap wasn't necessary. However, one annoying thing that the Synchronika did before the FCD installation was spit into the tray after dropping the lever at the end of pulling a shot making a bit of a mess. The FCD with the new spring reduced this to a dribble. I'm not sure this was an intended fix but I'm happy it does this. My machine is easier to keep clean now👍

Hi Marc, great video as always. I enjoy watching your reviews in particular, you always give great detail and keep everyone engaged. You’ll have to do an outtakes video and show that shower screen flow from below again, due to the camera malfunction not switching. My question, I think you mentioned in another video that the flow control might be made available on other machines, any news if they will be coming for Rocket Cronometro machines? Keep up the great work!

Hi I, Ya, sorry about not switching to the proper camera to show the flow out of the shower screen! Had a lot going on trying to run the show technically and accomplish everything else. Take my word for it the IMS shower screen drips evenly from all areas instead of the usual single stream from stock screens. We have tested the FCD in Rocket E61 groups and it works. We hope to have FCD uprgrade kits back in stock when production picks back up in Italy - currently stopped due to virus. Marc

@@mikhailarey1196 I've had it for a couple of months now Eric. It's a solidly constructed machine and exceptionally well finished (compared to my old Lelit). Mine's not plumbed and the tank gets around 6 shots with frothed milk before a refill. It heats up from cold in 20 mins and from 200F (shot) to 264F (froth) takes around 120 seconds (75F ambient). 1.5 turns on the flow control to full and not hard to open / close this during the shot. The front positioned PID / shot timer is a great benefit. It's small footprint works well in our kitchen.

Hi Marc, I have a question about the long-term durability of the needle valve. From what I understand, it's akin to putting your thumb over the opening of a garden hose to restrict flow. With the pump running at full 9 bar all the time throughout the shot (which would take up to 60 seconds with super low-flow preinfusion), there's going to be a lot of pressure looking for an escape. Could this backlog of pressure cause accelerated wear on the plumbing?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi LD, That's a great question. The answer is no. All machines with flow control (and most every prosumer level machine) has an OPV. It's a valve which releases pressure from the internal plumbing at a preset pressure. Usually set to 10 bar on vibration pump machines and 9 bar on rotary pump machines. The OPV controls the maximum internal plumbing pressure. Machines are fine with running at these pressures indefinitely due to the OPV. Marc

Hi, Is it reliable to get this machine with a flow control? I’m more focused on normal espresso shots but gonna use the flow rate occasionally to do some drips. Im afraid that the stock flow rate is not doable and sustainable in this machine. What are your thoughts.
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi AM, Thanks for the question. Very reliable! Normal flow rate on rotary pump machines is ~11g/s. Stock flow rate on vibration pump machines is ~8g/s. You can get those flow rates easily with the FCD. For instance, on my Profitec Pro 700 I get the stock 11g/s with the valve open 1.25 turns.Hope that helps! Marc

Hi Marc, I'm enjoying your shelter-in-place videos! I'm considering getting a PP 500 PID with flow control. I'm wondering if using a low flow rate on a HX machine will increase brew temp due to coffee staying in the group for a longer amount of time. Have you made any measurements of this?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, Thanks for the comment and a great question! I have not made Scace temp measurements but I should. My guess is it may actually lower the brew temp with a lower flow rate. This because of longer contact time of brew water with the mass of the group which is at a lower temp than the boiler. I'm not certain of this but makes sense at first look. Marc

@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Chubz, Thanks for the comment. Purge/flush depends on the machine used. If I were using and older HX boiler machine with pressurestat temp control I would most certainly flush. Same goes for most single boiler machines as well. Most of those machine types will have over overheated brew water after sitting idle. I don't worry much about the grinds. On most machines I replace stock shower screens with IMS screens for improved water dispersion. Unlike stock screens the IMS showers do not have a rough screen which holds onto coffee particles/oils - much easier to clean! Check those out here: www.wholelattelove.com/products/ims-nanotech-e61-shower-screen Marc

Hi Marc - Great video! I have learned a lot watching bunch of your videos. I just pulled the trigger on Profitec Pro 600 with Flow Control from WLL. Can you advise how the Pro 600 Flow Control can be used like the stock Pro 600? Does it also take one full and quarter turn to get the same flow as the stock Pro 600? What is the flow rate of a stock pro 600? What are the negatives if you are brewing with much higher flow rate? Thank you.
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dev B, Thanks for the comment, question and patronage. And congrats on your new Pro 600! Vibration pump machine like the Pro 600 usually run ~8g/s with the stock mushroom. You valve turns should be close to the 1 1/4 to get that rate but I would verify by going through the calibration. Run 20 seconds of pump on at each quarter turn measure volume or weight and /20 to get g/s. Brewing at a higher flow rate might be desirable in some profiles like working a darker roast or aged coffee. For those it's usually an initially high flow rate for a short period then ramp down to lower than stock flow and nearly nothing to finish. Can also mimic level shots by a high initial flow for a few seconds, then cut completely for 5 or so seconds and then go quickly to a higher than stock flow rate and ramp continuously down to zero to finish. Hope that helps! Also, stay tuned I'll be doing some live streams with a variety of flow profiles starting a week from Thursday! Marc

@@Wholelattelovepage thank you for the very fast reply. Unfortunately, I bought a chronometro r instead of a 58 before I understood the difference in a heat exchanger and a double boiler. So I check my temperature in the brew head before every pull. I just ordered a scace, so maybe I can swap the thermometer for a pressure gauge and put the scace in an extra portafilter to check that way between pulls. Maybe I'm better off trying to sell my chronometro and then buying a lever or a higher end rocket.

Hi! I really like your videos, they are really helpful! I also bought a Ceado E36S grinder and I see you adjusting the grind size while the burrs are not turning. Is this hurting the machine based on your experience? The ceado manueal recommends only to reduce the grind size while there are no beans in the machine and the machine is running. What is your take on this? Kind Regards!
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Martin, Thanks for the comment and question. Out of an abundance of caution grinder manufacturers always recommend only adjusting grind size with the burrs spinning. Reason? If you adjust to a finer grind size without the grinder running you may crush any remaining beans or partially ground beans between the burrs to the point where the motor will not start. If left on with the motor trying to spin the burrs but they're jammed with beans the motor could be damaged. In my experience never a problem to adjust to a coarser size without the burrs running. And very minor adjustments to a finer setting are usually not a problem. Especially true in a grinder like the E37S with a powerful motor and good start capacitor. My take is follow the manufacturers instructions unless one knows exactly what they are doing. Marc

@@Wholelattelovepage @Martin Bartel just to clarify, Marc changed the grind on the E37SD and not the E37S. On the SD it’s not an issue to not have the grinder running because, since you are single dosing, you are grinding to empty each time. There are no beans left in the grinding chamber. With the S, because it is hopper-fed, yes you should avoid adjusting finer without the grinder running to prevent any potential jamming issues as Marc mentioned in his reply.

I have watched your video on the 5 profiles which was a great help but I've just got the FCD and to speed up my experimenting I'd like to try successful or proven various profiles that you or others have tried. That would be a great starting point for a beginner to profiling. Oops! I just saw the same question was asked below. Sorry!

Hi John, Thanks for the question! And no reason to be sorry as I love talking to people in the comments. I'm working with our developers on the best way to post a library of flow profiles. It will likely be in our support wiki: wiki.wholelattelove.com/Main_Page I wish I could put them up right now. Unfortunately the developers have been rather tied up supporting our working remote workflow. I promise they will be available! In live streams starting late next week I plan on doing some specific flow profiles with a variety of coffee types. Marc

Hey Marc, I just picked up the Profitec Pro 500 PID with the flow control. You did mention that the Pro 700’s stock flow is 1 and 1/4th turn, is this the same for the Pro 500? I just want to get the stock flow first to dial in my grind before I start going into the deep end with the flow. :D

Hi ibfm, Your timing is perfect! Just did a live stream today featuring a Pro 500 with flow control. Stock flow rate on the 500 is ~8g/sec. Which is at about 1 1/4 turns of the FCD. But, do go through the calibration measuring flow rates at each quarter turn. Run for 20 seconds at each position, measure output at that position in grams or ml and divide by 20 to get grams per second of flow. There can be slight variations in flow rate based on pump pressure (OPV) setting and other factors. Do check out your machine doing it's thing in my live stream: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qdulq5aD18ilqHU.html I have a bunch of other live streams with different flow profiles for different situations like extra fresh specialty coffee, a sweet bump profile and more coming next week like a manual lever profile. This may have been asked before but I'm hoping for your answer. If a machine has flow control is there a constant stream of hot water going to the E61 group head to keep it nice and warm even prior to opening up the flow control lever during the machine warm up period and/or between pulling shots?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephen, Thanks for the question and I'm happy to answer! All E61 groups have a constant flow of water out to the group and back to the boiler in a closed loop when the machine is fully heated up and sitting idle. It's called a thermo-siphon and happens due to convection. Here's a video which covers different boiler types/groups with a deeper look at how that works using some cut-away machines - a couple with cut-away E61 groups: studio.kzfaq.infoOUywoRs4meY/edit?o=U Key to designing machines is a flow restrictor in the thermo-siphon loop which machine designers must size properly to create a flow rate which heats the E61 group properly. Hope that helps! Marc

Thanks Marc for putting this together as well as the other video with the 5 different profiles. Did you come up with these profiles by trial and error or is there some theory behind it? For example, for dark roasts pre-infuse high flow/low flow, short or long hold duration? Light roasts, old coffee as well. Could you expand on the thinking that lead you to those 5 profiles please?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Phil, You are welcome and thanks for the questions. The profiles came together from informed trial and error is best way I can put it. Some basics are fairly well understood like long low flow pre-infusions allow a very fresh coffee to off-gas and reduce brightness. I have spent time working with coffee pros like Danilo Lodi of Dalla Corte who has some basic theories for flow depending on coffee type. I adapted and tested his approach on the DC Mina with regards to very fresh coffee. Also his way of working older coffees with high flow at start and flow reduction to avoid extraction of bitter and stale flavors towards end of extraction. Marc

I have pulled about 50 shots so far and just got my new Caedo E6P grinder so went back to this video before dialing in my grind size. I would think the Profitec 600 flow would be similar to the the 700 in your video, but it takes me 2 full turns open to get about 11 grams per second (222 grams of water in 20 seconds). Hello, Do I have to put the spring at the bottom of the unit? Because if I understand correctly, the purpose of the spring is to control the pre-infusion (to remove it so that you can control it yourself). So by leaving the bottom as it was and only changing the top, you keep the pre-infusion? This doesn't seem to make sense, and yet I see an advantage in being able to shoot shots as originally. Of course, Flow Profiling only comes into play after this pre-infusion. Thank you!
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 5 ай бұрын
Hi bttb, you do not have to install the bottom spring if you do not want to. My understanding is it's a stiffer spring which prevents valve flutter which can make a dolphin like chirping sound. I want to confirm with our lead machine tech (OOO today) but I don't believe it fundamentally changes pre-infusion.

I just had another question while I was watching you using flow control. I also bought the ECM Synkronika with Flow control. When I close the flow control all the way up, I still get some water (2-3 g/s) out of the shower screen. Is there a way to adjust the flow control setting if it is already installed? That would be really helpful to be able to maintain and adjust this. Also, is there a way to limit the output (g/s) if it is turned all the way up? It would be great if the standard flow rate (without flow control) would also be the maximum flow rate with flow control installed. Kind Regards!
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Martin, Sounds like you need to calibrate the control. The external chrome sleeve which receives the black control knob can slide down a bit while the valve is open and prevent the valve from fully closing. Very easy to fix! Loosen the black control knob a turn or so - just to be clear you will be turning the knob and not using the knob to operate the valve at this point. Then try closing the valve. With the black knob loosened a bit the chrome shaft which receives it can move vertically. That will allow the valve to close. When fully closed and no flow from the group firmly tighten the knob. Hope that makes sense! There is no way to limit the maximum flow rate when the valve is fully opened. There are a few cases where one might want to have more than the stock flow rate. On the Synchronika it's ~1.25 turns from fully closed to get the stock flow rate of ~11g/s. From there flow increases in a fairly linear fashion out to 1.75 turns with a flow rate of ~14g/s. It's that last extra quarter turn from 1.75 to 2 full turns where the flood gates open and flow doubles to ~28g/s. Hope that helps! Marc

Hey Marc, quick question. I’ve noticed that on most of these FC profiling videos, 1.25 turns seems to yield the stock 11g/s flow. I just purchased a Synchronica w/ FC, and on my machine I’m seeing that 0.25 turns = 1.0 g/s, 0.5 turns = 3.5 g/s, 1 turn = 7.5 g/s, (etc.), and 1.5 turns = stock 11 g/s. Is this additional quarter-turn difference anything that I should be trying to adjust? Or is it perfectly acceptable for there to be some variation like this? Thanks!
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 3 жыл бұрын
Hi John, Thanks for the question. Not unusual for a little variation in flow rate and it's perfectly acceptable. That's why I advise users should measure theirs as you have done. One thing you could check with potential to make a difference is your static brew pressure. Put in a backflush disc and lift the lever. What you want is 9 bar pressure at the group mounted gauge. You can adjust pressure underneath the machine by turning the bypass screw of the rotary pump to produce 9 bar at the group gauge. It's kind of a PITA to adjust the bypass as you have to hang the edge of the machine off the counter and do with the pump running. Hope that helps! Marc

Marc, why have a gauge on brew head if you have one in the machine ?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Dirk, Great question. When using flow control the machine gauge will in most cases indicate the full brew pressure of the machine as set by the bypass on rotary pump machines or the OPV of vibration pump machines. This because the restriction of the flow control device is in the chain after the point at which brew pressure is measured internally in the machine. Restricting flow at the E61 group can result in much lower pressures being applied to the coffee than are indicated by the main machine gauge. Marc

In the video you mentioned that a standard flow rate would be somewhere around 9.5-10 grams per sec. Hi GFY, Thanks for the question. The Pro 500 uses a vibration pump. Stock flow rate for vibration pump machines is ~8g/s. Rotary pump machines ~11g/s. You should get stock flow rate from your machine with the FC valve open ~1.25 turns. Yes, dial in using stock flow rate. After that you can work with flow rates to modify the extraction. There are a lot of variables involved, but you may find for example if you use a long low flow pre-infusion you might need to make your grind a little finer. Hope that helps! @Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sunil, My apologies for a delayed response to your question. I've been offline for a few days. Those are high flow rates. I suspect your flow control is not setup properly. Try this: completely close the flow valve and raise the lever to turn on the pump. When closed there should be no water flowing from the group. If water does flow when closed loosen the black knob you turn the flow valve with. This allows the chrome sleeve to move on the post leading to the valve inside the mushroom. With the knob loosened now try closing the valve with the pump running. If you get it to stop flow completely move that chrome sleeve up a millimeter or two and while holding in that position tighten the black knob. I hope that all makes sense! Marc

Hi Marc, thanks so much for your reply - much appreciated. I have done as you suggested (closed the flow valve and raised the lever to turn on) and water does not flow - which is fine. My machine is plumbed in and I have also installed pressure reducer valve at the main water supply but I am still experiencing same high water flow. Without using flow rate, I have 9 bar pressure on manometer but as soon as I start using flow rate regulator/control to make espresso water flow rate falls apart. Really need your expertise here. Thanks Sunil

One more thing I forgot to mentioned earlier, If I have my flow control valve on a one and a quarter turn then raise the lever at first stage (just before you turn on the pump) water start to flow, . is it normal? Thank you Sunil

Hi Marc! Again, what a fantastic video - one man show - perfect ;=) For me there is no other guy i know who goes so deep into all the details-around the espresso-universe with so much engagement. A real athlete doesn't stop until the sweat is on his forehead ;=) Do you think possible chennelling (39:40sec) could be forced, when pulling out the Jack-Leveller to fast out of the portafilter (-> vaccum)? I relay like my R91, good flow-control, and my E37ZHero (has by the way a lower portafilter-holder, so that i can lay down my angled portafilter, no need to hold it, so that i have both hands free). I will try your different profiles - it's really fantastic that you do such reviews, thx again! As you said that you like a clean portafilter - have you heard of/tested the pro-fondi portafilter cleaner? Stay healthy Marc, greetings from germany!

Hi Bob, Thanks for the kind comment. Do try the profiles and let us know what you think. I do not believe pulling the leveler pulls a vacuum causing issues with the puck. Lol, did work up a sweat in the video. Studio lights and a few too many espressos may have had something to do with that. Happy to hear you are loving your setup R Nine One and a Z-Hero that's one nice setup. Do you have a favorite profile/coffee. I'd love to hear more details! You stay healthy as well Bob and thanks again for you comments! Marc

@@Wholelattelovepage Hi Marc, i tried your different profiles and have to agree with you. The "bumpy" one highlights the sweetness a little bit. With my experience, the standard-profile for the best shots is for me is a kind of mixture of them both: 1.) a long preinfusion at low pressure to saturate the puck (~2-3bar for 10sec, until the first drops a visuable but not yet dropping), 2.) then evenly raise the pressure (~5-6bar for around 5 sec., --> extraction begins), 3.) then give it a slight bump ( 5 sec at 8-9 bar), 4.) to finisch the extraction evenly decrease the pressure (starting at ~7bar, ending after ~15 sec with 3-4 bar). Thats for me a quite good procedure. But due to the freshness of the beans, the settings can change slightly by checking the flowrate/ colour of the extraction. By the way a roast me own beans (with Gene cbr 101), which additionally makes a hughe difference as you can control the time / degree of roasting to your preferences. Preferably i use a blend of diffenret beans from Mid-/South-America. When i buy roasted beans (very rare) then i like Cagliari Espresso Superoro for example.

Hi Marc Can you recommend using Ceado E37S as a single dose grinder? Having a little trouble seeing what else you get with the Ceado E37SD which has a somewhat higher price .. As I sometimes have to use it to run multiple shots in succession Thanks for some great and informative videos )) Sincerely, Morten from Denmark.

Hi Morten, Thank you for the kind comment and question. Hope you are well in Denmark! Internally the E37S and E37SD are nearly identical. The exception is a smoothed "mushroom" type top of the nut holding the lower burr. Prior to introduction of the SD I did use the S model for single dosing. It's retention is usually about 0.5g. With the bellows on the SD model retention is as low as 0.1g. I doubt anyone can taste that retention difference. Especially if shots are close to each other. The bigger deal I think is in ease of use. Using the S model you'll need to bump the motor a few time to get the last bits of coffee out. Hope that helps! Marc

Just received a Profitec 600 with Flow Control. I’d like to see an intro video that is far less tedious than this for new users. There is no way that either my wife or I are going to go through a repeat of your exercises to learn how to get some good out of this new Flow Control. We need a quick and easy “getting started” lesson to get some good out of it without committing to an endless fiddling exercise.

Hey Don, Here's a link to a brief article with graphs of some basic profiles for different coffee types and/or brewing situations: www.wholelattelove.com/blogs/articles/intro-to-calculating-flow-rate-on-e61-group-machines At a basic level: Lighter/fresher/specialty coffees: Try 1/4 turn open for ~15 seconds or until first drip then open to a half turn to finish. Darker/older/bean blends: Start with a high flow rate at 1.25 turns open for ~15 seconds then continuously ramp down to zero flow to finish. Marc

@@Wholelattelovepage Thanks for the link. We had our old Profitec 500 in the comfort zone, and the new 600 is proving to be a challenge. We are trying some of the profiles with the Flow Control you have suggested. Turning the morning coffees into a version of high school chem lab probably is just never going to happen here though. I’d rather play guitar. Hopefully it will morph into a good coffee with the consistency we got with the old 500 as we get more comfortable with the 600 and the Flow Control.

PROBLEM: (pet peeves) I've watched all the WLL videos on the this E61 Flow Control device and can''t help but notice in all the videos,.. the color of the chrome finish on the Flow Control valve does NOT match the color of the chrome of the E61 Group head. The valve has a yellow/gold cast to it when compared against the Profitec. Yes the flow control is chrome plated, however, just like the manufacturing process of stainless steel, the color of the chrome finish is determined by the proportion of materials / chemicals used during the plating process. (FYI: For over a decade I was the manager of a chrome plating line in a major US manufacturing plant. We chrome plated everything from automobile parts to home appliances.) Simplified, the more nickel used in the process the whiter or more silver the finish. The more brass or copper used in the process the more yellow or gold the final finish. Like others I don't want the Flow Control to detract from the original appearance of the machine. On closer examination, the other pet peeve is the buffing process used prior to plating these valves which appears to be sub par. Starting around 11:37 - as the camera moves around you can observe the color variation as well as catch glimpses of reflections on the nut of the flow control valve and see it doesn't have the same super smooth highly reflective mirror finish of the Profitec. I should clarify that I'm only referring to the color/finish of the large "tightening" nut only. The chrome finish / color of the valve stem looks great. NET: WLL should meet with the manufacturer of this valve to improve the quality of the finish... or find another manufacturer. Ideally, adding an aftermarket device shouldn't scream "I'm not original to the machine." Does any of this effect the function of this valve? No way! It works exactly as advertised! I only wish the finish looked as beautiful as it works.
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Elton, I will forward your comment to ECM/Profitec who manufactures (or contracts for production of) the FCD. As you mention it does not effect the function and thanks for including "...it works exactly as advertised!" I have always been impressed with the finishing quality of Profitec and ECM machines. IMO it's better than most of their competitors. I personally look for little clues like how welds are finished in the internal seams of drip trays. And thanks for the education in regards to chrome plating! I didn't know much about the chemistry but now I know more. I had not recognized a big difference in the finish quality of the FCD but then again I wasn't looking for it. Marc

@@Wholelattelovepage Hi Marc... I wasn't a bit surprised when I saw how quick you responded to my comment. You and WLL have always been a first class operation when it comes to coffee, customer concerns, support and service. I know this because I've been a WLL customer since late 2001 when I purchased my first "quality" espresso machine. ( a Rancilio Silvia to replace a $99 department store Krups "espresso" machine) Miss Silvia was absolutely awesome... unfortunately my episode of upgrade fever did not subside so just shy of 4 weeks with Silvia I began lusting over the Pasquini Livia 90. WLL allowed me to return the Silvia with no problems in a very smooth and painless return refund process. One year after Miss Livia I wanted more... sold her to a family member and picked up a Reneka Techno. All along the way WWL has always been there to answer questions and assist me with my purchasing decisions. Almost two decades later I still look to WLL for advice and council. Thanks for being there... keep up the good work!
