Nichelle Nichols was a truly trailblazing figure in the advancement for women and people of color. Her appearance as Lt. Uhura on Star Trek in 1966 becomes more groundbreaking and relevant as time goes on.

At a Star Trek convention in Portland, Or in 1989 I got to hang with Ms. NIchols back stage, in her hotel suite and behind her autograph table as a result of being friends with the man who organised Creation Convention at the time. I sort of became her assistant for the day and loved every minute of it as she was truly such a warm, welcoming and captivating speaker and engaging human being. Have just heaps of respect for her and its still to this day my fondest memory from all of the conventions I attended in those days of the late 80's - early 90's.

Still one of the most beautiful women no matter what age she is. She was an idol for me even though I'm white. I only saw the movies of Star Trek movies as a child before the series and only when i was younger understood just how powerful she was.

Another Key Member of the Trek Legacy now gone. May You Continue On and Prosper in the Great Beyond. 🖖🏼💔🥲😔

i had gone to a black church for a while, black people age really well compared to white people lol. its genetics, they have more collagen in their skin so it doesnt wrinkle as bad as they age as well as being melanated, your skin blocks a good deal of the suns rays so you get less skin damage from the sun.

If memory serves(one of my favorite Spock lines), when Star Trek was first airing in black and white, apparently some people thought Lt. Uhura was an Asian women. Always thought Nichelle Nichols was a very beautiful woman, and even on black and white TV, her ethnicity was always clear to me. I don’t see how one could not see it. I guess a prejudice mind sees what it wants to see.

I was reading Whoopi Goldberg’s Wikipedia page that when she was very young she was watching television and saw Nichelle Nichols and said Momma their Black Woman on television and she ain’t no Maid. Because she feel proud to see someone who likes her that could give women a strong voice and message to kids and woman around the world. Also along with Black Panther to see Black People as Heroes. Also along with Asian Americans when they’re watching George Taki as Sulu on Star Trek as well. Instead of seeing Asians in Kung fu movie because we seen Crazy Rich Asians, Shang-Chi and Everything Everywhere all at once.
