ABOUT
It all started with a vision to enhance the lives of the people who live, work, and visit Montgomery, Alabama. Inspired by the natural beauty of its riverside location and its proximity to downtown, the idea to create Montgomery Whitewater was born. Rooted in adventure, outdoor lifestyle, and shared experiences, our premier destination invites people to be outside, challenge themselves, discover new activities, and enjoy their surroundings.
WORLD-CLASS OUTDOOR VENUE
Located steps from downtown Montgomery, Alabama, and adjacent to the I-65 and I-85 corridors, Montgomery Whitewater is an outdoor destination unlike any other. The park boasts an Olympic-standard recirculating whitewater channel, utilizing the world’s most advanced whitewater technology for paddlesports athletes and competitions.
Montgomery Whitewater isn’t just for the professionals; it’s an outdoor adventure center for all ages. People of all skill levels can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, from the adrenaline-pumping Competition Channel to a more approachable Creek Channel for recreational paddling. If you’re not as stoked on the whitewater, the property features tons of beautiful green space, perfect for relaxing and enjoying live music, a yoga class, or a meal and drinks at the full-service restaurant and bar.
Montgomery Whitewater was made possible by the bold and visionary leadership of state, local, and community leaders that formed the Montgomery County Community Cooperative District.
The Montgomery County Commission, the City of Montgomery, and the State of Alabama led this unprecedented partnership. This transformative venue will catalyze to enhance the quality of place for the River Region, drive economic development, boost tourism, support the military, and recruit and retain talent.
What is the MCCCD and its Relationship to Montgomery Whitewater?
The Montgomery County Community Cooperative District (MCCCD) is a board of select community leaders formed to serve as the ownership entity of Montgomery Whitewater and the overlaying district. Montgomery Whitewater is located within the Montgomery County Community Cooperative District (MCCCD).
Southern Whitewater Development Group
MCCCD/SWDG Relationship
The Montgomery County Community Cooperative District has contracted with Southern Whitewater Development Group (SWDG) to develop and operate Montgomery Whitewater. The principles of the SWDG team are credited with designing, developing, and operating the most successful whitewater projects in the world. Southern Whitewater Development Group (SWDG) is the developer and operator of Montgomery Whitewater.
FUTURE PLANS
The next development phase will include rock climbing, mountain biking, ropes courses, access to the Alabama River for flatwater kayaking and standup paddle boarding, an on-site hotel, and retail parcels. The Montgomery County Community Cooperative District and Montgomery Whitewater are excited and proud to welcome all visitors to this amazing property and the experiences which will follow!

I started to say i never knew this was even there, i grew up in Elmore. after looking at the map i see it was just empty land while i was still living there lol Cool to see some life come to the area and not run down vacant lots and fields anymore. Having places like this to spend idle time with friends and fam would have been awesome growing up

This looks shaweet!!! Do you have any connections for someone to talk to about how and what the process was to get the city to put one of these in? If San Diego had one of these I bet it would be a hit. With the outdoor community here having an option to raft or kayak would unreal for everyone.

Idk ab this. Charlottes drops are not as steep. Granted we just ran it. October 5. Holes more retentive. Steeper drops into holes on creek channel than wilderness in Charlotte. I was in a full slice but still. Charlotte has it dialed in. Mont has some adjustments to make I think. Lots of surging

@@justin_other_kayaker When did you run Charlotte? They've had an issue with the pumps this year and have been only able to run 5 most of the time. That 6th pump make a difference.

@@Robert-1969-1 it was in March. My overral opinion of Montgomery is it’s more exciting but also more dynamic. It’s narrower than Charlotte. More drops. And steeper drops.

I prefer a natural river or creek too, but these parks are nice when you can't get a crew together to paddle your local run and especially nice when everything is dry. Also great for instruction and confidence building for beginners. If a whitewater park grows the sport, we should all support them. That is my opinion, or $25.02 plus fuel.
@WadeHarrison
@WadeHarrison 10 ай бұрын
It’s 25$ and 49$ to raft for the entire day actually pretty good I think and look at where this is yeah I’m in western NC with 100 different free flowing options but this is mid to southern Alabama very limited to close whitewater and you can apply that logic to anything why pay to climb inside why pay for bike parks why pay to ski or swimming when it’s all outside list goes on and on I feel these parks definitely have a place

Hyper Chlorinated and and drenching with chemicals: "Water quality looks spectacular!" 😂😂 I'm sure it's better than river going through cities, but a bunch of blue dye doesn't mean it is as good as the water coming off the mtns :P
