During the commercial hip-hop goldrush of the early 2000’s, it’s no exaggeration to say that 50 Cent had captured not just the East Coast’s throne, but was beginning to vie for control over the entire marketplace. Whip smart, confrontational and harbouring a backstory that was the stuff of major motion pictures to come, 50’s rise gave him room to do what any superstar would do - bolster those around you.

Banks was one of my favorites. Super lyrical. Could of been a star been kept that gritty New York punchline vibe which won't really fly with the current sound. Too bad nobody really does punchlines anymore guess its just an eastcoast thing.

50 always says his respect for Eminem comes from em helping him when he couldn’t help himself. 50 got the leg up then did the rest himself. That’s what 50 expected from the gunit members but he doesn’t feel they helped themselves and he wasn’t going to carry them the whole time. That’s why he’s done with them.

I believe after 50 got shot up that changed him as a person. He was the next upcoming hot rapper everyone was talking about was gonna blow, he was on Colombia he was with trackmasters everyone was in his corner and his best friend life was great!! Then when he got shot it all disappeared nobody wanted to deal with him anymore and he couldn't even get anyone on the phone all that industry shit was gone. He had to rehabilitate from the shooting then use all his money to get back on his music grind and climbed his way all the way back up to being that next hot rapper. I think that experience made him cold hearted the dude doesn't get along with ANYONE he cant even love his OWN SON and almost every artist hes ever worked with hes flipped on. 50 is very intelligent and driven but hes emotionally broken he needs some real therapy but hood dudes dont do therapy so it's a wrap.

G-Unit failed for a lot of reasons, the beginning was great. They had a two hit records and they made their own fan base real quick, but imo it all fell apart due to constant beefing and infighting. 50 should have just let Game go if he didn’t want to be there or make him fulfill his Contact and then cut him loose, but it became a huge issue with G-unit putting out songs to beef with The Game and other rappers instead of actually making Hit records and Touring. Another thing was that 50 had beef or started beef with every new NY Rapper, so when the rest of G-unit tried to get features for their songs everyone turned them down. It was a catch 22 imo the rest of G unit can fight 50’s battles and beefs or go in the booth and make actual hit songs, both choices have their consequence.

@Marzipan Hughes no wrong...BEEF WAS GOOD AND 50 KILLED EVERYONE HE HAD BEEF WITH... jayz and diddy had 0 problems with 50 cent... JAY Z DIDDY HAD THE SAME BUSINESS MAN CHRIS LIGHTY... THEY 3 HAD DINNDERS LUCNHES IN NYC DIDDY AND JAYZ WERE COMPETITION ON MONEY..........So the main issue was not beef... in my opinion 50 killed everyone he beefs with from 2003 until 2010... 50 ran hip hop you can hate it or not that is facts.... 50 issues was he did not move on from gangster rap and move to club hits... if 50 did more pop songs he would be able to save gunit... it would be relevant... gunit had 0 gameplan... tony yayo walked into from prison to home 1 million dollars cash duffle bag... don't forget that... these boys were spoiled kids... they partied in nyc like kings on 50 cent bank account.

Game didn't flop. Like him or not he became his own artist. I like 50 but his guys were only good as long as he had his juice flowing. They were branded with the "50 brand" stamp, that's what stopped them. If they wanted to have anything beyond G Unit. When 50 gets thirsty enough for hip hop legitimacy, he'll reunite G-Unit and most likely Game and Buck included. That his Legacy and that's where he left off so that's what's gonna make sense musically. Of course Em will be on it. His relevancy in the tv world will make that possible by carrying that attention over. And yes he does have sociopathic ways to where it would make him look so much better if he wasn't so worried about fame/celebrity and attention from shock value. Letting his art speak the volumes it is right now thru the tv scene is the best thing he can be doing for himself and that's definitely what's up 💯💯

It’s weird to remember how seriously people took 50 cent. Like ever since the blood on the sand game I’ve kinda just seen him as a meme, someone who’s for sure talented but someone who represented taking street machismo and pridefulness the point of parody. It’s weird to remember just how dominant 50 cent was for a time. Before Kenya came out with a more vulnerable and at times light hearted image that tough guy image was what a lot of people wanted.

Yves Charles It’s deeper than rap. Eminem and Dre was 50 blue print. Not having this all of a sudden work ethic. Conflict of interest if Banks blow which he did if only briefly. Notice none of his singles feat Dre production for lead off like a lot. At 10:42 that 50 quote is false. 50 started the beefs and Lloyd ended them. Burning bridges along the way when G-Unit was at the height of their powers they were self contained. Lloyd had to repair a lot of bridges when he left the Unit. Lot of dudes always respected him lyrically and knew he was just a pawn in 50 game.

@@SDSOverfiend when he asked Floyd to be part owner TMT and he turned him down by telling him I don't try to get in your videos or songs stay in your lane and that's where their feud started he couldn't do Floyd like he did them

50 was lyrically never on the level of Game or Banks! bruh game took them on single handedly. Only Banks impresses me. Banks would have been one of the GOATs. He's awesome. Game always kept releasing a high quality of hiphop though.

That's crazy. Young Guru's on Skillshare. Good for Guru. That's wild. Btw shout outs to Guru for really making himself a valuable team member of Team Roc as opposed to just a dude that hangs on. That's how you do it. My man got a whole career.

Those original G-Unit mix cds we used to cop at the ave were the stuff of legend!! Off Mustafa!! Every month a new joint would hit. Those were the days smoking spliffs on the way to the Colesium ... to get the latest

This one hurts me the most. Gunit could've been the greatest hip hop group of all time. As it is they gave us classics in such a short period. 17 year old me would have never believed what was to come. Sad.
