I can imagine a kid curiously watching this seemingly kid-friendly show, and then leaving being introduced to a concept like abstraction that makes death look preferable.

I think Jax even shows slight signs of abstraction by showing boredom. Him not getting entertained enough could drive him to insanity, causing abstraction.

I will say this. I think Ragatha is the next to abstract, she will be a heavy punch for Pomni as the only important character that tries to help here and we get hints of her demise in these 2 episodes if you ask me. In episode 1 she glitches saying in how much pain she is, due to an abtraction (aka Kofmo), she also shows hints of mental instability when she talks about losing hope, despite her happy demeanor she seems to be barely holding on imo. In episode 2 she literally gets impaled by a candy spike which could be foreshadowing her death through a simple gag. I might be overthinking it but I do think that if anyone in the group will become abstracted, Ragatha will be the one.

I think at this point Kinger might not become abstracted in a long while. (He will probably will get abstracted in the show but alot later.) Dude has probably lost his lover and he still is hanging. His mental fortitude even when he's a schizo lunatic is insane.

Abstraction is also the way out. It proves that the player's mental state actually affects the simulation in a way it can't wholly control. Figuring out a way to Abstract correctly and turn those powers on Cane, is probably the only way out

I think of abstraction as a literal interpretation of what you feel mentally when you finally break down and have a mental health crisis. It just feels all too familiar to me as a person who has had plenty of those in the past.

I think it's interesting to try and separate the instabilities that the characters got in the circus from the ones that they already had in their real lives. Pomni already arrives displaying severe symptons of anxiety, and Gangle has an avatar made outta the idea of masking depression. To understand how they arrived into the circus may help us to also understand how the circus will affect them. Kinda like how Kinger's dementia prevents him from totally losing it. Considering characters like Gangle, Ragatha and Zooble, I highly doubt that the avatars are designed upon nothing

Well, since you're immortal in the Digital world, of course it's an eventuality, the same way that if you were immortal in real life, you'd eventually break your spine. Or you'd eventually meet a billion people. Or really anything. Everything that can happen _will_ happen given eternity. And if I was taken to the Circus, that probably would be my biggest fear or at least the most existential thing I'd be thinking about. That I'm here forever and if I can't keep myself healthy and stimulated with Caine's activities literally forever I will experience abstraction.

I think Jax knows that being a dick gives him the best chance to not abstract for a long time. If you ground yourself to a person and they abstract your going down with them. Being a dick to everyone means that new people that new people that come to the circus now prolong the inevitable by giving you new people to be a dick too.

I think extreme apathy and curiosity can probably last you a while, after all, there seems like a lot of stuff to explor in the digital circus.

Ironically, it is Kinger's absent mindedness that prevents him from abstracting. His mind wanders off, he blankly stares at things, he experiences bouts of short and long term memory loss. If he had a breakdown, he'll probably have forgotten he had one 2 minutes later. It's funny, actually. He staves off insanity by being crazy.

The Amazing Digital Circus propose the question: what would happen if your mind died before your body? With immortal bodies, eventually your mind will give in, turning into a hollow/abstraction

Tastes like fanfiction... There seem to be two themes in the show so far. The players are trapped. The GM doesn't know what he's doing, and is lying. This world is presumably a relatively recent creation, since computers have only been around for so long. We don't know how stable this pkace is, or how stable Caine is. Either one collasping would prevent the inevitability of abstraction for everyone.

It’s very sad. These humans lost control of their own minds and became a monstrous glitching beast, and then Caine banishes them to the cellar. We got stop Caine.

Honestly the two I see most likely to abstract next are either Gangle or Zooble. Gangle: Seems to try and hold on by hiding behind a mask of happiness but it’s literally and figuratively a very fragile mask. Not sure how long she can keep that up. Zooble: First of they seem to try their hardest to stay out of all the adventures which means they do not only spend a lot of time alone but also receive very little stimulus which will probably lead to a great deal of hopelessness and stress leading to abstraction. To add salt to the wound they probably got the worst luck when it comes to their new body, their uneven, unbalanced, falls apart easily and can barely walk. Also they seem to suffer from memory loss more than the rest since while the others forgot their names Zooble also forgot their gender, who knows what more they forgot.

tbh Abstraction didnt look bad in episode 1 because they kind of turned it into a joke with how it beat on Ragatha and the Gloiks queen. So either it isn't that bad or the tone was a little off

Hot take, I think Zooble will abstract first. I noticed in the latest episode that everyone seems to have some sort of attitude/coping mechanism towards dealing with their situation. Ragatha choses to be positive and play along with what’s going on to keep up some normalcy. Jax choses to have fun by being mischievous.(Think that one person playing a video game that takes joy in breaking the game and low key harassing the npcs by attacking everything. Something kinda like that) I realize that this isn’t Gangle’s fault, but I think her strategy is expressing emotion. That is a healthy way of dealing with something like this, I think. Pomni doesn’t seem to have a method yet because she is in a constant state of panic and confusion. She may or may not find a strategy in later episodes idk. I wasn’t sure about Kinger’s UNTIL episode 2 when he’s comforting Ragatha, who is worried that Pomni is having a bad time. He basically says not to worry because he remembers when she was the same way when she arrived to the circus. But when Ragatha responds, he is basically like “what?” Totally forgetting what he said. I think his method is disassociation. Zooble’s is the leaat constructive because it involves pessimism and avoidance, something that will not help to find normalcy, and avoiding missions provides a distraction, but Zooble has actively avoided (or tried to avoid) every mission provided up to this point.

I think Jax is going to be the next one to start abstracting. He seems to be clinging to the missions almost desperately during the episodes so far. He follows them to a T and completes them in the most efficient way possible. Hes losing interest. He might have a mental break here soon before Kinger does but i think Pomni or the others are going to notice in time and save him.

I have my own theories in relation to the show. What if there are no actual humans present during the show? What if they're just copy's of the real persons mind and the actual people are still living out in the real world unaware that a virtual copy of themself is getting tortured in a program somewhere. Thing about it logistically. How are these vr headset wearing humans alive after all this time? They would need food and water, and to do their body functions. How exactly are they surviving all this time like vegetables?

It’s even worse if what I think is true which is these are not the original humans who put on the headset but digital copies made by scanning those peoples brains. There is no way out because you were never a Person and the original is still alive in the meat space probably completely unaware a sentient copy of themselves is suffering in a digital purgatory. Even escaping into the net if possible wouldn’t be a solution. As most of the internet is not equipped to handle a digital engram. Frankly they just don’t have vr spaces for them. It’s not like you become an all powerful AI like Caine just because your mind is copied. You still think like a human and in a way are limited by that. Either way all that awaits you is an infinite amount of time and no matter how you try to fill it or where you go eventually it will become meaningless and you will abstract where it take one year or a thousand.
