I've watched a bunch of your videos looking to learn more about how to sound proof and sound treat my studio. You do a great job in explaining what you can't do but you don't really explain the solutions. Take this video, it would be great if you would go into a room and show how you would physically sound treat a room, with materials and placement etc... same with how to sound proof a room, go and actually film the step by step process.

Every noise transmission issues is different. Every noise issue requites different material types and different contsruction methodologies. You can not generalize with noise. You will fail without measurements to guide the design and resulting build.

Guessing with noise is a fool's game. Most guess wrong, waste time and money with their guess and then call me for a fix. Most of the time the only fix is to demo and start over. With noise you do not not want to spend 1 dollar more than you have to since you will never get that cost back. With noise it is measure twice cut once.

You all just want the solutions to your problems and you're not even listening to what he's explaining. There is no single answer, that's why your have to learn the fundamentals! This isn't a contractor and construction channel. There's plenty of those. You're like the teenagers I teach drums to, "Show me how to do that!" and then doesn't want to learn the rudiments that get you there.

100 years ago, it was all but impossible to get a liberal arts degree without taking physics, chemistry, calculus (with prereqs of trig and geometry of course), biology. Now you only get those with a hard science major, unless you like paying for electives that don't count toward your degree. We're really short-changing a lot of people on educating them to understand the physical world around them. I'm not saying fine arts majors should need to take differential equations or physical chemistry or matrix algebra or large system thermodynamics, just a foundational 100 level course in 3 or 4 basic things, if they're in college anyway. It'll enhance the rest of their lives in the way they see the world.

If people were more educated in the hard sciences, they would not be so quick to fall for most of the acoustical nonsense out there.

Its about : pressure / reflections / rate / level of both absorption and diffusion. Music and voice require many variables that need to be satisfied..

@@AcousticFields Well, I have only $3K to treat my 13X20 room as completely as possible. So…I have no idea what to do. Is Primeacoustics any good? All of us don’t have the funds to afford everything you sell. 🤷‍♂️

I find the negative reactions here ridiculous. Obviously acoustics are highly complex. Personally I am going to slap some rock wool on my walls first to see if it helps. But I am not kidding myself- if it helps it will be dumb luck. In the end I may have to pay big bucks to get a room that sounds good to my withered ears. If I had the funds I would get this guy to come over personally :)

People have had acoustical treatment dumbed down be making things too simple to understand for so long, they have such a low bar reference.

If you're going to just stick stuff on the walls, your lungs might prefer foam to rock wool. Seriously.

It is literally impossible to acoustically treat a room on your own without knowing how to operate a scientific calculator or having an acoustics master's degree (M.Eng.). No one has ever done it before. Give these people your money because you're too stupid to do it on your own and it will never work.

There are many variables to consider. Most do not understand the priority for certain steps to be taken first before you move on to the next step. Most put the cart before the horse and end up disppointed with the result.

i love the "soundtreatment has to treat sound not look good" attitude of this dude. does not take any shit, knows about the topics he talks, alone how he allways correct uses terms that get mixed up often.

I took the shit. I bought all of it that was in the marketplace at the time and used it in projects. Only 20% worked as advertised. However, these units did not work well enough for music and voice. The other 80% was shit. Described in half truths, exaggeration, and innuendo, I don't know which was worse the marketing effort or the product names. This 80 % faiture ratio was the impetus behind the design of both our foam and carbon technologies.
