Unlike dynamo brushes , alternator brushes normally last for several years. ... Alternators carry only the field current of 2 or 3 amps. The brushes are in contact with slip rings , which have a smaller, smoother surface than a dynamo commutator. The slip rings are solid rather than segmented, as in a dynamo.

Thank you for the info on gen/alternator. I find the battery is used to start the car, light the lamps, etc., which the alternator will take over these functions during its running. भाइ आपने जनरेटर की जो जानकारी दी अछी लगी ओर अबतो सभी गाडीयोमे एसे ही जन,आते हे क्युके य नयी तकनीक हे नया जमाना हे तो अब सवाल ये है की जो इलेकट्रीक सीटी मे बडे बडे जनरेटर होते हे जो कयी गुना पावर नीकालते हे 230 वोल्टसे लेकर 11000.33000.ओर इससेभी ज्यादा तो क्या वोभी इसी नीयम पर चलतेहे या फीर इसके बारेमे हो सके तो बतायीगा ,धन्यवाद👍👍👍

Brushes are also present in car alternator not only in DC generator.. Which need to be changed after certain kilometers running. Both startor and rotor windings are present in car alternator.
