@TheThundercat718 I had a total of 135 lbs to lose, so I was very out of shape. I still have 95 lbs to reach my goal. I started walking 5 minutes a day, and now I'm up to one hour. I eat fruit and spinach smoothies with a little oatmeal and sometimes peanut butter for breakfast and sometimes lunch, too. I eat a giant salad for dinner. I started incorporating noodles, rice, and bread over the last month. I've only lost 10 lbs since doing that but i was getting bored with my food choices. I'm now starting to go to the gym 30 minutes 3 times a week to get stronger. I'm hoping this all sticks as a new healthy lifestyle.

White rice has a healthy omega 6 to omega 3 ratio while brown rice does not have a healthy ratio. Beans and potatoes have a good ratio but many nuts and seeds other than walnuts and flaxseed have an unhealthy ratio. This is where McDougall shines over Fuhrman. Fuhrman shines over McDougall by stressing the cancer healing advantages of foods such as berries, greens, broccoli, mushrooms, celery, and carrots.

Dr McDoughall brings up a good point. There is a good diet for every animal. Imagine taking a diet that is meant for dolphins and feeding it to insects? We wouldn’t dream of feeding our beloved pets candy bars, caramels, cookies, oil and butter, but many don’t think twice about consuming this for ourselves. I didn’t recognize the connection between food and health for many years. Most people I talk with don’t either and say it’s all genetics. They would rather take medication than change their food intake.

Dr. McDougall don’t ever apologize for offending people with the word fat. Coddling doesn’t ever do anyone any favors. It’s better to know that your doctor is being straightforward and honest with you than sugarcoating information. Could sugarcoating doctors be part of the problem?

What a great discussion! I never get tired of listening to this man. real bread, real potatoes at themselves are not unhealthy... it is what we do with them. go to a whole foods store and get the most "whole grain" version of bread. Eat it with natural foods... plants, not too much fat, but also not too little fat! I think "as low fat as possible" is dangerous... but i am all on board for plant based eating!

AMAZING!! ESTHER, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TESTIMONY, AND YOUR UNLAYERING WAS SUPER MOTIVATIONAL!! Currently just started the Starch Solution, again, my body does not do well with Solanine in regular white potato, and corn and gluten aren't my friends neither.. I've tried two times for full months to wake up feeling more crippled. So sweet potato is my alternative. I'm currently skinny challenged. 5'7.5 @180. Surgical menopause from uterine cancer I had for longer than known. Congenital hypothyroid, hashimotos, Mononucleosis, insomnia, pre- diabetes, autoimmune issues, excema on finger tips. I've tried raw vegan, it helps, except winter is too hard, I love having hot satisfying food when its cold out. Raw only isn't sustainable for me. Evolution...is a theory!!! And only a theory! I was created from creator, I do not come from monkey/ape. Man's theory Science is not my master creator. Yahuah is ONE!!

I had gastroparesis almost all my life. Only times I did not was when I was eating only plants or when I at least as thoroughly as possible separated all animal products from all high starch and/or sweet foods. Fit for Life advice helped me go from taking 16 HCI tablets and barely feeling a burn to not needing any and digesting just fine. It also helped me to realize that it is so much easier to eat just plant-based. When I did that, I had regular bathroom times. I had met people who would say things to me like "I do want to go on a walk with you but let's do it after 9 a.m. because that's when I'll need to use the restroom." and I was so weirded out. Well, just eating plant-based foods or even mostly eating only that, I was one of those people! And, there was no pain or shame in the process!

I didn’t find this convincing. Yes, it seems obvious that humans historically ate starch, and even more obvious we historically ate meat. We were driven by the need to survive, not ideology. Why deny that and pretend that a healthy diet omits the meat? Having said that, congratulations to the people who have lost weight on the starch diet. Excluding the processed foods of the modern world is the single best thing we can do for our health.

That said, the no oil on the skin is the one area where Dr. Esselstyn differs from Dr. McDougall - When asked the same question Dr. Esselstyn said oil topically was ok. Dr McDougall says a couple times in the video that the 12-day online program is free, but when I look on his website, it says it’s $2,995.

No it is not free. He does however, have a multitude of free resources on his website for anyone who wants to follow his plan.

I was thinking the same thing. 25:41 he does say as a free program and that you don’t have to pay for anything

I thought that the paid course was interactive with one to one Zoom sessions, but that there was a non interactive 12 day programme that is free?

Dr McDougal you are amazing! The misinformation in diet culture is terrifying! I have been led my whole life to believe carbs are “bad” and the reason for weight gain. Yet any form of potato is my favorite food! I’ve always used potatoes as my “cheat” meal. Thank you for spreading this information to the world 🌍 you are loved and appreciated more than you know 🤍🤍🤍

I respect most of what he’s saying, but at one point he makes it clear that if you drastically overeat carbohydrates/sugar, your body will burn the extra calories by increasing your basal metabolism (around 34:00) and you will have a really hard time ever gaining weight. Later in the lecture he says that drinking fruit juice or eating dried fruits is bad because “calories count” and it’s one of the things that “fat vegans” fall victim to, as it will make you gain weight (1:14:30). Make it make sense.

Ladies, I reduced my fat to a minimal amount and I started getting premature hot flashes and my period went away. I don't think he realizes that women are different.

On the other hand, I had no hot flashes. Didn't start to turn gray until 60.
